Demi Lovato Reaches Out to Selena Gomez Following Breakdown

Back in July,  Demi Lovato was hospitalized following a heroin overdose that nearly claimed her life. Last week, Selena Gomez checked into rehab in the wake of what’s been described as a “devastating” emotional breakdown. Having found career success at roughly the same time, Demi and Selena are more than just friends — they share a unique understanding of the pressures of fame and the ways in which a fan base of millions can be both a blessing and a burden. In many ways, tens of millions can relate to Selena’s plight, as anxiety, depression, and addiction are astonishingly prevalent afflictions in modern America. But in some respects, Demi is one of only a handful of people who can truly understand what Selena is going through right now. So it’s something of a comfort to know that Demi has reportedly reached out to Selena to offer support during this tremendously “This just breaks Demi’s heart but she definitely understands what Selena is going through more than anyone right now,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online. “She has spoken to her and will continue to be there for her just as Selena was there for Demi following her overdose.” Yes, it seems Selena was an invaluable source of love and support in the early days of Demi’s latest stint in rehab. Of course, this is a trying time not only for Demi and Selena but for their worried loved ones, as well. Thankfully, it seems Selena and Demi’s mothers have found solace in one another as they attempt to guide their children through the rough waters of addiction and mental illness. “Demi’s mom Dianna and Selena’s mom Mandy have been close friends forever too, and Dianna has definitely been a huge source of support and strength for Mandy this week, just as Mandy has always been for her,” says the source. “It’s just been so hard to watch their kids suffer right now, especially after they were so sure that Selena and Demi had overcome their demons.” Sadly, the singers’ current situations serve as painful reminders that recovery is a lifelong process. The majority of the millions of Americans who have struggled with these issues may never have recorded a platinum record, but they can certainly relate to Demi and Selena in that respect. Our thoughts go out to both young women and their families during this painful time. We’ll keep you updated on both situations as more information becomes available. Chris Cornell: Toxicology Report Reveals Singer’s Cause of Death

It’s been two weeks since the music world was stunned by the sudden death of Chris Cornell , the pioneering singer/songwriter whose inimitable vocal stylings helped Soundgarden and Audioslave rise to the top of the charts. Just hours after his body was found, medical examiners in Wayne County, Michigan ruled  Cornell’s death a suicide . Cornell’s widow, Vicky Karayiannis, and others close to the musician expressed doubts about the coroner’s findings. Karayiannis maintained that drugs played a role in Cornell’s death , a theory that shocked fans, as the singer had been sober for nearly 15 years prior to hsi passing. Nevertheless, Karyiannis issued a statement expressing her belief that the results of a pending toxicology report would corroborate her beliefs. Today, TMZ obtained the results of that report , and it seems that Karayiannis was correct in her assertion that Cornell was under the influence at the time of his passing. The coroner who examined Cornell’s body confirmed that the following drugs were found in his system: Naloxone (Narcan), Butalbital (sedative), Lorazepam (Ativan), Pseudoephedrine (decongestant), and unspecified barbiturates. Witnesses claimed to have seen puncture marks on Cornell’s arms, but it appears those were the result of Narcan injections made by paramedics in an effort to save the 52-year-old’s life. Shortly after her husband’s death, Karayiannis stated that she knew Cornell was intoxicated just from speaking with him on the phone. She asked the singer’s bodyguard, who was staying in the same Detroit hotel, to check on Cornell, but tragically, it was too late. An apparently drug-addled Cornell had hung himself in his room with an exercise belt. Karayiannis issued the following statement in response to today’s findings: “Many of us who know Chris well, noticed that he wasn’t himself during his final hours and that something was very off. We have learned from this report that several substances were found in his system.  “After so many years of sobriety, this moment of terrible judgment seems to have completely impaired and altered his state of mind. “Something clearly went terribly wrong and my children and I are heartbroken and are devastated that this moment can never be taken back.” She concluded: “We very much appreciate all of the love we have received during this extremely difficult time and are dedicated to helping others in preventing this type of tragedy.” Our thoughts go out to Cornell’s widow and children during this tremendously difficult time. A Personal Tribute to Sean Hannity

A popular phrase among the political left these days is “I support the troops… but.” But what? You either support the troops or you don’t support the troops. If you really support the troops you want to see them pursue a winning strategy in whatever war they’re fighting and come home to a grateful country. That’s whether you agree with the politics involved or not. The military does not start wars and are rarely left to their own devices when it comes to the fighting of one, but some in the media always want to paint our military with the blackest paint available, magnifying the smallest negative and ignoring the most positive. There are however a few highly influential anomalies in that equation and none more dedicated to the sincere and unconditional support of our men and women in uniform than Sean Hannity. Sean’s support for the military is born from a deep and abiding love for America, he is a straight ahead patriot who chops the logs of contention and lets the chips fly, making no apology for where they land. There is no wavering in approach, no wandering off the path to curry favor from one side or the other, no breath of political correctness here, just a man with a common sense approach to the problems that confront America and a willingness to stand alone for his beliefs if it’s necessary. Each week Sean does five three-hour radio shows and five one-hour television shows, each one requiring research and preparation, not to mention the numerous speeches and other public appearances he makes. Yet with all this hectic schedule, Sean Hannity devotes his summer family vacation time to do the Freedom Concert Tour, a coast-to-coast concert series to support the Freedom Alliance, an organization founded by Ollie North, which insures that the children of those who gave their lives or became 100% disabled in the military service of this nation, will be able to get a college education. In addition to devoting several weeks of his and his family’s lives to raising money for this tremendously worthy cause, he has personally given in excess of a million dollars to it. Our troops and their families love Sean Hannity, and with good reason. He is and always has been in their corner; no matter what the political climate or the mood of the country. He realizes that without our military there would be no America. Politicians and pundits sway with the winds of change, but Sean Hannity stands tall for what he believes in and America is a better place for it. Sean Hannity, I love you. May God bless and keep you.
