View post:

Source: Gil Jones / Radio One Super Bowl weekend in Atlanta brought folks from all over the world together to celebrate the Championship for America’s #1 sport, but who would have thought those reunions would be even deeper than football. Rappers   Young Jeezy & Rick Ross have had their differences over the years. Some of those differences even ended in brawls. RELATED:  T.I, Ludacris and Jeezy Unite on Stage in Atlanta But the two were spotted at The Agency 99 Present’s JEEZY Super Brunch on Sunday at Simon’s Restaurant in Atlanta, hugging it out like brother’s who haven’t seen one another in years. The moment had everyone around stunned in surprise because of their checkered past. It’s amazing to see two of our young leaders in the Hip Hop community come together and show love. Hopefully this is the beginning of a good year in Hip Hop. Stop The Violence: Famed Detroit Bassist Anthony Tolson Killed In Christmas Eve Carjacking

Stop the violence… Anthony Tolson Murdered A famed bassist was tragically killed in Detroit during the Christmas holiday while going to see his family. 33-year-old Anthony Tolson, who toured with the likes of Young Jeezy and Ne-Yo , was murdered on Christmas Eve after assailants fatally shot him and stole his SUV. The Detroit Free Press reports: On Christmas Eve, Anthony Tolson had finished playing bass guitar at a church service and was driving to see his three kids on Detroit’s east side. Yet Tolson never made it. He was shot and killed by multiple assailants who then stole his SUV that contained his bass and gifts for his kids: William, 7; Aaron, 12, and Amber, 13. The tragedy has left his close friends struggling to understand how Tolson, 33, who friends say has toured with artists like Ne-Yo, Young Jeezy, Kelis and J. Moss, became the victim of violence. On Christmas Eve, Tolson finished performing at Central Baptist Church in Detroit. He was headed to his mother’s house on the east side, where his kids were staying and where he planned to open gifts with them in the morning. But at around 9:30 p.m., two assailants ordered Tolson out of his gray Chevrolet Trailblazer near Gratiot and State Fair Avenue before shots were fired, said Sgt. Cassandra Lewis, a Detroit Police spokeswoman. (Police did not identify Tolson by name.) The suspects then drove away in the vehicle, Lewis added. No other details were released. Anyone with information about the shooting can call Detroit Police Homicide Division at 313-596-2260. Ne-yo has since expressed his condolences. This is so incredibly tragic and senseless. A “Lil Positivity”: Young Jeezy Sends Message To Fans And Defends “Trap Music” Against Negative Criticism

Young Jeezy Defends Trap Music’s Negative Connotation Against Critics As Atlanta prepares to “Go Crazy” at Young Jeezy’s TM101 10th anniversary concert, the Snowman took to Instagram to speak to his fans, reflecting on his career, and also play a lil’ defense against his detractors who label his now-ubiquitous “trap music” a glorification of drug dealing and violence. They say you have your whole life to make your first album, and they might be right. Some call it poetry, others call it the ghetto gospel, but the industry calls it “trap music.” Go figure. Either way it’s the voice of the streets, and we all know that when the streets talk, we listen. I find it odd when people use a negative connotation like “trap music,” when the message (lyrics) clearly states: make it out of your surroundings and be the best man and provider you can be. We call that being a boss where I’m from — a self made individual that refuses to let his environment dictate his or her outcome in life. This body of work you see before you is just that. Every experience, every up, down and close call. All the nights that you prayed you could make it to see another day. All the sacrifices you made for friends and loved ones you lost to the street life. I can’t help but to think of all the obstacles I had to dodge and the times I was unsure. But I continued to keep my faith and hustle strong. I kept pushing! When I said that the roaches were in the kitchen, I meant that! So now when I tell you the floors look like bowling balls, I mean that too. You can call it rags to riches, but I like to call it a boy becoming a man and believing in his dreams, goals and expectations. I never thought of “fame” or being accepted in this industry; my only thoughts were to represent and speak for every man, woman and child that was in the struggle and just wanted to make a better way of life, without taking no for an answer. With every song, verse and adlib on this body of work, you can hear that determination, that ambition and that drive in every word. If the album touched you in any way, just know that it was all for you. I’d like to thank my fans and anybody that was a part of my journey. Here I am, 10 years later, doing what I love –motivating the people. Are you motivated by Jeezy’s soliloquy? Do you find the positive and redeeming qualities in his music? If the answer is “no”, you should come to Atlanta for his TM101 show on Saturday night and see the result of his motivational speech in person. Image via Def Jam/Instagram

Snowman For President: Young Jeezy Blasts Donald Trump Over Racist Comments About Mexicans

Young Jeezy Says Donald Trump Is Making A Mockery Of Presidency Looks like Donald Trump has met his match. In a series of tweets Monday, rapper Young Jeezy voiced his disapproval of the wealthy candidate’s recent comments about Mexicans and questioned his motives overall.   We were gonna make a joke about Jeezy defending “the plug” … but decided it might be in poor taste here. We agree with Jeezy, but we noticed there were a few detractors who responded by saying he also made a mockery of the presidential candidacy with some of the lyrics of “My President Is Black.”     Do you think Jeezy’s critics have a point? Or do they need a Ho Sit Down too?   What do you think about Young Jeezy speaking up on politics? Are you surprised, proud or unbothered?   Twitter/WENN
