Casey Anthony Wins Appeal of Two Convictions For Lying to Police

Two of Casey Anthony’s four convictions for lying to authorities during the investigation into her daughter Caylee‘s disappearance have been dismissed, according to reports. Casey’s legal team appeared on her behalf in the 5th District Court of Appeals in Florida to appeal all four convictions and ask that they be thrown out. A panel of judges found that two of the four convictions should be tossed because they constituted double jeopardy – dual convictions of the same crime. The state argued that double jeopardy wasn’t a valid reason to reject any convictions because each false statement to law-enforcement was a separate offense. Ultimately both arguments were rejected, but the appeal court found that Casey Anthony , 26, could only be rightly convicted on two of the counts on merit. Now that the appeals have been settled, Zenaida Gonzalez‘s civil lawsuit against Casey for claiming she was a nanny that kidnapped Caylee can proceed. Casey claimed that “Zanny the Nanny” made off with her toddler; Gonzalez, a woman by that name, is now suing her for defamation as a result of the lie. Anthony was recently spotted at a steak house , one of the few times she has been seen outside of hiding in the 18 months since her murder acquittal.

Casey Anthony: Out of Hiding, Back on the Run!

Casey Anthony had been hiding out in South Florida area, but had to leave at some point last week after being outed and fearing for her safety. As a result, she is once again on the move, according to reports. Anthony has been in hiding in Florida, where she must remain due to her probation, since she was acquitted of murdering her daughter last July. She has recently been more making forays back out in to the public, albeit virtually unrecognizably due to the amount of weight she has gained. Having been served with a subpoena recently in the defamation suit filed by Zenaida Gonzalez, Anthony has been forced to find new digs. Gonzalez is suing after Anthony told the cops that a woman with a similar name to Gonzalez’s – Zanny the Nanny – had kidnapped Caylee. The private investigators were attempting to serve her with a subpoena to appear at the trial, which is expected to begin in January 2013. “Casey had been venturing out at night and the investigators had been tipped off by people that had seen her,” said a source close to her. “Casey is a smart girl and quickly determined that she had been found and refused to leave the house or accept service of the subpoena.” “The P.I.s weren’t stalking her, they just wanted to serve her and move on.” Anthony’s lawyers soon accepted the subpoena on her behalf. “Casey was extremely upset that she had been found because she had settled into a routine and felt safe in South Florida,” the source adds. “Her lawyer advised her that she needed to move for her own safety, though; Casey is hopeful that this will be the final move before her probation ends.” At which point, it’s Costa Rica time … hopefully forever.

Sister Wives Recap: So Much Jealousy!

“Sometimes, I don’t like this.” Pretty much. Being married to one woman is hard enough. Imagine four! Or think about sharing your husband with three other women. Not what we signed up for … Only for Kody Brown and his quartet of spouses, they did sign up for it. This is what they do, and like all of us, their lives feature drama and tension beneath the surface. Unlike all of us, there’s a TLC show devoted to the Browns … So what went down last night? While Kody was excited to announce the sex of Robyn’s baby, he reflected on the problems he faced with his first three marriages. Marriages that are still going on, of course. Christine, with whom he’s currently having serious marital discord, expressed frustration with the family’s new Las Vegas living situation. It’s been an adjustment. She is lonely. She feels Kody coddles Robyn, although she adores Kody and Robyn. It’s just that he leaves for four days at a time, and frankly that blows (our words). The Brown Bomber muses that “jealousy creeps in when one wife says in her mind ‘he loves her more than me.'” Dude, when ya got four of ’em, that’s inevitable. In spite of all that, Kody is quick to note that “I’ve loved [Christine] all my life.” Ditto first wife Meri, whom he calls his “soul mate,” and who’s in it for the long haul. With Janelle, Kody says their strongest bond is their kids. Speaking of, Robyn’s unborn child, the family’s 17th in all, is totes going to be a … boy baby! NICE! When Robyn told the doctor that Kody had four wives and 17 kids , his reaction was just priceless, even though he had to know it was coming, being filmed and all. His take? “That’s, I guess, cool.” I guess . Gotta love Nevada, where people could pretty much not give a bleep as long as you’re otherwise law-abiding. And paying. That brings us to Kody’s other goal, besides marital stability. Dude isn’t made of money, and that is a lot of mouths to feed. So how will he accomplish that task? By going into business with all four of his wives. Somehow. His initial idea is a family food franchise that is health oriented. The wives? Less than enthusiastic. Hey, TLC isn’t gonna front all their living costs for life. Better figure something out, gang. What did you think of this installment of Sister Wives? Sound off below!

Casey Anthony Deposed, Pleads the Fifth in Zanny the Nanny Lawsuit

Disguised and appearing via video link, Casey Anthony was deposed Saturday morning in a defamation suit filed against her by Zenaida Fernandez Gonzalez. Gonzalez claims she is unemployed and ostracized because Anthony originally told police that a woman with the same name kidnapped her daughter, Caylee. Investigators proved that Gonzalez had nothing whatsoever to do with the case and that Casey fabricated Zanny the Nanny , but the damage was done. So claims Gonzalez, who is suing her for defamation. In this weekend’s deposition, Casey Anthony answered few questions and her attorney repeatedly invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. Attorney John Morgan , who represents Gonzalez, said Casey wore a Philadelphia Philllies cap, “gigantic sunglasses” and what appeared to be a long, dark wig. “She clearly did not want to be there,” Morgan said in response to a question about the acquitted murder suspect’s mood, but was “composed” and “courteous.” Casey Anthony’s location was not revealed . Anthony answered general questions, such as whether she was present during her trial and whether she was in court for her attorney’s opening statement. But more specific questions, predictably, were shut down and met with the Fifth Amendment assertion by Casey’s Orlando-based attorney, Charles Greene. “Deep breathing, nostrils flaring,” Morgan said of her demeanor. The questioning lasted about 45 minutes. “We didn’t want to turn this into a 2-hour circus.” “We asked enough questions and got her to invoke the Fifth enough times that we feel we can file a motion to a judge to compel her to answer [more].” “We didn’t want to go bit by bit through [all the Anthony case details such as] the trunk and the chloroform; that would have served no purpose.” Morgan plans to file said motion in the next week. She is in Florida serving probation in a check fraud case. Other than that, little is known about Anthony’s whereabouts, or what she’s been up to lately. We know she’s not working or in school .
