Ralph, a beloved New York Mets broadcast who is also a member of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame, died today at his him in Rancho Mirage. He was 91 years old. Kiner played 10 seasons, mostly with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and hit 369 him runs. He led the National League in round-trippers in each of his first seven years. Following his playing career, Kiner worked with the Mets for over five decades, even calling a few games last season at the age of 90. The Hall of Fame confirmed Kiner’s passing via the following statement: “With the passing of Ralph Kiner, the baseball world has lost one of its greatest ambassadors and the Hall of Fame has lost a wonderful friend. Ralph spent eight decades as a player, executive and broadcaster. He was a man who truly loved our National Pastime and made it better in every way.
