After being convicted of fraud and identity theft back in May, Apollo Nida is serving an eight-year prison sentence at a Georgia correctional facility. In his first prison interview since (reluctantly) turning himself in in September, Nida reports that he’s adjusting well to prison life, and is hoping that his ex-wife Phaedra Parks will wait for him on the outside. Nida and Parks split shortly before he was found guilty, and sources say the divorce is proceeding rapidly (we imagine there’s not much squabbling over kids and property when one half of the couple is behind bars). The breakup seemed to be mutual, and there were accusations of infidelity from both parties. Now, however, Apollo wants to give his marriage a second try, but we imagine his pleas will fall on deaf ears: “I hope we can stick it out,” Apollo told In Touch last week. “Yes, we’ve had our problems – especially over the past year – but we’ve gotten on terms now where I can call her and it’s cordial.” Someone should tell Apollo that “cordial” isn’t enough to sustain a relationship through an eight-year prison sentence. A spokesperson for Phaedra confirms “there have been absolutely no discussions about reconciling” and “the divorce is proceeding as planned.” As for the couple’s two kids, Apollo reports that he has not seen 4-year-old Ayden and 18-month-old Dylan since he began serving his sentence, but he says “there are plans” to have them visit soon.
