We sat down to talk with a real hip hop legend, Ice Cube: Bossip : Cube, we are big fans of your whole persona and how you stayed true throughout the years… How’d you do it? Cube : It’s really about, trying to… reinvent, not yourself. Reinvent your approach to getting people to understand what you’re about. In each stage of my career, I’ve always tried to keep the audience I had from the jump. So, even with trying to reinvent myself like on Are We There Yet, people need to understand it’s a movie and my real fans knew that and understood. What comes up must come down… so I refuse to go up. If I keep my feet on the ground… I don’t have to worry about going up or down.
Remember the days when every auto garage on Earth had a girlie calendar hanging on its filthy, grease-stained walls? Italian tire company Pirelli sure does, though their approach is a bit more, shall we say, “high fashion.” Every year the company rounds up the world’s hottest supermodels to pose for their exclusive nude calendars, which are not sold to the public and only available to a select group of important clients and celebrity VIPs. The one thing these classy dames have in common with the mechanics down at the tire shop? Lots and lots of grease- they’re all lubed up like you wouldn’t believe. This year’s nude celebrity crop includes Kate Moss , Milla Jovovich , and Japanese Babel (2006) star Rinko Kikuchi , all of whom go flawlessly full frontal posing in the great outdoors. You might not be getting a Pirelli calendar from Santa this year, but you can see all 12 of this year’s calendar girls after the jump!
‘I feel like this approach of this year, I wasn’t expecting any of the things that happened,’ Gomez says. By Jocelyn Vena Selena Gomez Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Selena Gomez has had quite a year. Not sure what we’re talking about? Let us refresh your memory. She toured, hosted the VMA pre-show , hosted the EMA show in Belfast, Northern Ireland, released several music videos off her album When the Sun Goes Down, including “Hit the Lights,” starred in the flick “Monte Carlo” and said goodbye to her Disney series, “The Wizards of Waverly Place.” So when Gomez looks back on 2011, what will she remember most? “To be honest, it would probably be when my series ended and not in, like, a happy way, but it was kind of like it was a new chapter in my life,” she told MTV News. “I think it was a really interesting time for me and that time in this year was probably my favorite.” The series wrapped filming earlier this year, but will continue airing into early 2012. While saying goodbye to her show resonated with the star, she could have never foreseen how big her We Own the Night Tour would be. “My music, for sure, [surprised me], like touring. I definitely was excited to get on the road and be able [to have] my first headlining tour,” she said. “I was excited to go everywhere and meet my fans and experience different places. To be honest, I didn’t expect the tour to do as well as it did, and we went to Canada and Canada was amazing and made me feel very humbled.” As 2011 rolls along, Gomez is going into the coming year with the same philosophy she had for the last. “I feel like this approach of this year, I wasn’t expecting any of the things that happened,” she said. “And so I just kind of want to go into the end of this year and the beginning of next year just excited and in a good place and not planning anything.” Before the new year does come along, Gomez has some plans to just spend the holidays with those she loves. “I’m gonna have a week off for Thanksgiving, which will be nice, and then a week and a half or two weeks for Christmas time,” she said. “And then I’m going to just relax and do nothing.” She has a busy year ahead of her that includes hitting the set of her next film, “Spring Breakers,” co-starring James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens and Emma Roberts.

73 percent of black children enter this world at a disadvantage— they are more likely to live in poverty, and more vulnerable to a life in the animal house called prison. Why? We have grown callous to subliminal media influences and fallen victim to false truths and our own naiveté. You see it’s not necessarily the type of man you date that makes you susceptible; it is the defects in your approach to life and romantic relationships. Click Here To Read The Rest At MadameNoire.com
On ‘MTV First: Robert Pattinson,’ he opens up about ‘Twilight’ co-star. By Aly Semigran, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in “Eclipse” Photo: Summit Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart clearly have a connection: From their onscreen chemistry in the “Twilight” saga to their real-life romance, the two stars undoubtedly see eye-to-eye on a lot of things. That is, however, except for how they approach their careers as performers. During his live 30-minute chat with us for “MTV First: Robert Pattinson,” the actor discussed the differences between his outlook on the acting process compared to KStew’s. “We just have different ways of thinking,” Pattinson explained. “I like the kind of cerebral aspect of things, and she has kind of an immediate emotional response to stuff every single time.” In fact, their approach to things in real life often reflects their decision-making as actors. “She can be thrown by something someone says and notices much more about people, whereas I just want to see the meaning of something,” the 24-year-old star of “Water for Elephants” explained. So, how does RPattz’s more-mental approach to acting bode with KStew’s responsiveness? Not too well, actually. While Pattinson admitted he’s someone who can’t take on a project until he entirely gets it , Stewart will be the first to point out what there is to “get” is actually right there in front of him. “She’s like, ‘Why can’t you understand? It’s obvious . You don’t know, you shouldn’t be an actor!’ ” RPattz described with a laugh. But, then again, his approach to his acting career is very much rooted in instinct. “I don’t want to just act for the sake of acting,” he told us. “If I’m not doing kind-of cool stuff, then I don’t want to be in front of people.” The star, who confessed he doesn’t even like having his picture taken, added, “All I want to do is make movies that I want to see. I’ve always tried to go for that and … you’ve got to go through lots of different hurdles to go to that level.” While he will continue to look for projects that challenge and interest him, he fully admitted he’s not the type of actor who has a deep-rooted passion for the craft. “I don’t know what that feeling is,” he said of the desire to act. “It’s like, ‘What do you want to do?’ ‘I want to read someone else’s lines right now! I want someone to film me saying something!’ It’s, like, really weird.” Are you surprised to hear Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart differ so much in their approach to acting? ‘The whole thing is very much from that perspective of respect the canon but don’t be a slave to the movies,’ director tells L.A. Times. By Eric Ditzian Zack Snyder and Superman Photo: AFP/ Alex Ross/ DC Comics “Superman” director Zack Snyder finds himself in much the same position Christopher Nolan did in the run-up to “Batman Begins.” Nolan had to pick up the scraps of a broken franchise — thanks, “Batman & Robin”! — and re-engineer the Caped Crusader for a new century. Snyder, similarly, finds the Man of Steel in poor shape following an attempted 2006 reboot that left audiences underwhelmed. Is it any surprise, then, that Snyder plans to follow the example Nolan set back in 2005? “Literally, the one thing that everyone can start to think about is that we’re making a movie that finally goes with the approach that there’s been no other Superman movies,” Snyder told the Los Angeles Times. “If you look at ‘Batman Begins,’ there’s that structure, there’s the canon that we know about and respect, but on other hand there’s this approach that pre-supposes that there haven’t been any other movies. In every aspect of design and of story, the whole thing is very much from that perspective of respect the canon but don’t be a slave to the movies.” To that end, it helps, no doubt, that Nolan has taken on a sort of godfather role on the project (officially, he’s a producer), not just as a creative guide, but as a concrete example showing that such an approach can actually work. “Chris is awesome. He’s super-respectful but super-helpful, too. You can’t imagine a more generous [collaborator],” Snyder said. “Once he sort of got what I want to do with it, he was like, ‘OK,’ and once he said, ‘You know what, that’s awesome,’ now he’s 100 percent. If I say, ‘What do you think of this?’ he’s like, ‘That’s awesome,’ and then there’s a great give-and-take about it, a great conversation that we can have about it and making it better every day.” There are a lot of days still ahead. The movie — which, Snyder confirmed, has the working title “Man of Steel” — won’t hit theaters until December 2012. Before they even begin shooting, Snyder plans to release a photo of Henry Cavill in costume as Superman , lest an unsanctioned paparazzi photo become the first-ever look at the revamped hero. What we end up seeing in the first official pic, and what ends up onscreen late next year, may not be at all what we’re expecting. “In some ways Superman is the most recognizable superhero on the planet but also the most unknown. Just what he can be?” Snyder said. “People have preconceived ideas about him but probably all of them are wrong.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Man of Steel.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com .
