Samuel L. Jackson Can Now Be The Voice For Your Alexa

The company has announced the veteran actor ‘s voice is a new option for customers of its Alexa device.   Variety reports : Samuel L. Jackson inked a deal with Amazon to provide first celebrity voice option for Alexa, its cloud-based digital assistant. According to the ecommerce giant, it will add more celebrity guest voices for the platform starting in 2020. The Jackson “voice pack” for Alexa will be available later this year for the special intro price of 99 cents — and users can select either clean and explicit modes. Jackson’s baritone is coming to Alexa thanks to a new Neural Text-to-Speech technology developed by Amazon, announced at the company’s Amazon Devices event in Seattle Wednesday. That’s designed to make Alexa’s default female voice more human-sounding, with more emotive and expressive speech. It also lets Alexa replicate speech inflections of real people, too — meaning Jackson’s voice on Alexa will be synthesized, rather than delivered as pre-recorded words or phrases. To get started, after installing the Jackson voice pack, Alexa users just say, “Alexa, introduce me to Samuel L. Jackson,” then choose whether they want him to use explicit language or not. Some example commands Amazon offered: “Alexa, ask Samuel L. Jackson where he is from”; “Alexa, ask Sam to wake me up at 7 a.m.”; and “Alexa, ask Sam Jackson to sing happy birthday.” (The company said the celebrity voice packs will not be able to help with shopping, lists, reminders or skills.) According to league sources, the Oakland Raiders running back isn’t planning to return to the field this coming season. ESPN reports : With the three-day NFL draft kicking off Thursday night in Nashville, Tennessee, the Raiders have one more potential need to address: running back. Minus Lynch, the Raiders’ backfield now will be left with backs such as Isaiah Crowell, Jalen Richard, DeAndre Washington and Chris Warren. Lynch, who turned 33 on Monday, plans to move on to the next phase of his life. Lynch’s stint with the Raiders had highs and lows, but “Beast Mode” continued to be entertaining and productive. Last season, he was tied for fifth in the AFC with 331 rushing yards through Week 5 when he suffered what eventually became a season-ending groin injury against the Seattle Seahawks, his former team, in London. Email Submit According to The Herald Bulletin , Michael Neil, 29, was arrested on Monday for allegedly stabbing a man in his apartment. Neil confessed to police in an interview, saying he was asleep when he woke up to find another man getting it on with his wife. SEE ALSO:  Man Finds His Wife & Her Alleged Lover Dead In Garage From Carbon Monoxide Poisoning “Neil admitted that he grabbed a knife from the bedroom and started stabbing the other male,” a press release states. Police responded to a neighbor’s call at 12:26 a.m. on Monday. They said they could hear several people fighting in an apartment nearby. When Officer Jamie Crawford arrived on the scene, he found an unconscious man inside a parked vehicle on North 20th Street. The man showed to have multiple stab wounds. Officer Matthew Walker entered the apartment building and discovered Michael Neil drenched in “a significant amount of blood,” says the press release. Neil told the cops he had been the one attacked in his apartment. Both men were rushed to the hospital to get treatment for their injuries. Elwood Police Chief Jason Brizendine withheld the name of the guy found unconscious in his vehicle. He did say the man was alive, however. He didn’t give details on the extent of his injuries. According to the press release, a search warrant was granted for the victim’s vehicle and the apartment. Various weapons and DNA were obtained by officers along with other evidence. Neil was booked on Monday for charges of Level 3 felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Elwood police mentioned that the case is still open and considered an ongoing investigation. This isn’t Neil’s first run-in with the law either. According to The Herald Bulletin, Neil is expected to appear in Madison Circuit Court 1 for a dispositional hearing on February 25 for a plea agreement in a January 2, 2018 case. He was charged with “Level 3 felony robbery resulting in bodily injury, robbery where someone other than a defendant, dealing in a schedule IV controlled substance and battery resulting in bodily injury.” With this additional case, it seems the odds are already against him. Future just dropped his “The WIZRD” album and as part of the rollout, he stopped by  Beats 1 on Apple Music . While there for FreeBandz Radio he spoke to Big Bank Black about a number of traptastic things; his new project, his rise to stardom and even that time he gave rapper YC the track “Racks” purposely, to jumpstart his own career. Things got especially interesting however when Future was asked to speak on his ex and her Seattle Seahawks husband.  According to the Astronaut rapper, he has “no feelings” for Russell because he’s “controlled by Ciara.” According to Future, Russell should step up and be a “man” and tell Ciara to stop mentioning his name in public. “He do exactly what she tell him to do! II feel like he not being a man in that position,” said Future. “He not tellin’ her, ‘Chill out with that on the internet. Don’t even talk to him. I’m your husband! You better not even bring Future’s name up!’ If that was me, she couldn’t even bring his name up,” he added. “She know that. She couldn’t even bring her exes’ names up. I don’t care what they gave you […] Don’t bring their names up in an interview, no! Don’t give that s**t no energy. It’s about me! I’m taking care of everything!”   Future also added that he thinks Russell should’ve stopped Ciara from taking him to court and revealed that he declined Ciara’s invitation to meet him.  “He think ‘oh you should go to court’—no! You better not show up for court. ‘I’ll take care of him before you sue him.’ […] “You’d already started going around my kid when y’all started going together and you haven’t even talked to me,” said Future. “And y’all got married and she said ‘Oh I want you to meet Russell.’ Why would I want to meet him now?! Y’all already did the damage!” “I’m not trying to be around your kids and I don’t know their baby daddy,” he aded. […] “Because he have a daddy, not only do he have a daddy, his daddy is in the public.” Well, well, well. Someone’s still clearly a little salty… He did say however that he thinks it’s a positive thing for little Future to be around a top NFL player because his son is being coached by one of the best in the business. “I played football, basketball, and baseball,” said Future. They say that love happens when you least expect it, and that was definitely the case for Jessica Share who recently met her daughter’s biological father and ended up falling in love with him. Share and Aaron Long have been dating for a little over a year now, but their genetics were introduced nearly 13 years ago when Jessica chose him as her sperm donor back in 2005. GMA reports, Long was a sperm donor in the mid-90s, and in 2005, Share selected his sperm to have her daughter with her female partner in Ohio, saying she was initially attracted to his sperm donor profile. Share and her wife split up a couple of years ago, and at around the same time she says her daughter started poking around on the DNA testing site 23 and Me. There, Alice connected with her biological father, who soon began talking to her mother. After Share and Long met, the rest was communal home history. Jessica, Aaron and their daughter Alice all live together in Seattle along with Jessica’s other children. No word on how many of the kids Aaron may be the papi of.

Legendary Guitarist Jimi Hendrix To Have Post Office Renamed In His Honor

T he late legendary music artist Jimi Hendrix recently received a major honor from his hometown of Seattle. According to the Seattle Times , legislation was signed to name the Renton Highlands Post Office after Hendrix. Last week a bill was signed into law re-christening the Renton Highlands Post Office the James Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix Post Office in the legendary guitarist’s honor. https://t.co/uviFZ5LKyb — The Seattle Times (@seattletimes) December 28, 2018 Under the bill—which was supported by Rep. Adam Smith and other senators—the post office’s new name will be the James Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix Post Office, the news outlet writes. Local officials believed that he should be recognized not only for his contributions to music, but the influence and impact that he had on Seattle as well. “I am honored to join in paying tribute to rock and roll icon and Seattle native Jimi Hendrix with the renaming of the Renton Highlands Post Office as the James Marshall ‘Jimi’ Hendrix Post Office Building,” Rep. Smith told the news outlet. “This designation will further celebrate Hendrix’s deep connection to the Puget Sound region and help ensure that his creative legacy will be remembered by our community and inspire future generations.” The city has made an ongoing effort to highlight the guitarist’s legacy. In Seattle, he has a park named in his honor, a bronze statue in the city that depicts him kneeling and playing a guitar, and most recently there was an exhibit dubbed Bold As Love: Jimi Hendrix at Home that opened which delves into his early beginnings and the evolution of his musical journey at the Northwest African American Museum. They just cashed in more than $250 million from their latest tour. via: BillBoard They say it’s a marathon, not a sprint. But for Beyoncé and JAY-Z, it was both. Their sprawling On the Run II Tour finished with $253.5 million in the bank, according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. The trek wrapped Oct. 4 at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field, the last of the 48 stadium dates they played, after beginning June 6 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. From there, the dynamic duo played 18 shows throughout Europe, peaking at London Stadium’s two-night engagement with $11 million grossed and more than 125,000 tickets sold. After a few final shows in France, including their debut performance of “APESHIT” in Paris, they crossed the pond for 30 North American shows, with doubles in Landover, Md.; East Rutherford, N.J.; Chicago; Atlanta; Houston; and Pasadena, Calif. The biggest earner of the tour was the Aug. 25-26 engagement at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, grossing $14.1 million.

Paul Allen Dies; Microsoft Co-Founder Was 65

Paul Allen, the multi-billionaire who co-founded Microsoft alongside Bill Gates in 1975, died on Monday afternoon at his home in Seattle. He was 65 years old. Allen, who was worth around $20 billion around the time of his passing, lost his battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a disease he announced had returned two weeks ago. “Some personal news: Recently, I learned the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma I battled in 2009 has returned,” Allen Tweeted on October 1, addingat the time: “I’ve begun treatment & my doctors are optimistic that I will see a good result. Appreciate the support I’ve received & count on it as I fight this challenge.” The wildly successful businessman’s Vulcan Inc. confirmed the sad news today, writing on Twitter: It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of @PaulGAllen, our founder and noted technologist, philanthropist, community builder, conservationist, musician and supporter of the arts. All of us who worked with Paul feel an inexpressible loss today. Allen’s sister, Jody, also released a statement. She said Paul was “a remarkable individual on every level,” adding in full: While most knew Paul Allen as a technologist and philanthropist, for us he was a much-loved brother and uncle, and an exceptional friend. Paul’s family and friends were blessed to experience his wit, warmth, his generosity and deep concern. For all the demands on his schedule, there was always time for family and friends. At this time of loss and grief for us – and so many others – we are profoundly grateful for the care and concern he demonstrated every day. Allen and Gates were both college dropouts. They came up with the idea for Microsoft in Albuquerque, designing software together for the nascient personal computer revolution. Microsoft moved to Bellevue, Washington in 1979. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 1983 and resigned shortly thereafter, but still was an active member of the board until the year 2000. Allen was also a prominent figure in the professional sports world. He had owned the Seattle Seahawks since 1997 and the Portland Trail Blazers since 1988. He was also the co-owner of the MLS’ Seattle Sounders FC. Over the years, Allen donated over $2 billion to charity. He was never married and left behind no children. Said Vulcan CEO, Bill Hilf, of Allen: “All of us who had the honor of working with Paul feel inexpressible loss today. “He possessed a remarkable intellect and a passion to solve some of the world’s most difficult problems, with the conviction that creative thinking and new approaches could make profound and lasting impact. “Today we mourn our boss, mentor and friend whose 65 years were too short – and acknowledge the honor it has been to work alongside someone whose life transformed the world.” May Paul Allen rest in peace.
