Bill Cosby, Enraged, Fires Yet Another Attorney from Appeals Team

Bill Cosby is in prison at last. But he doesn’t intend to stay that way. While Cosby furious compares #MeToo literal terrorists , he has saved some of that anger for his attorneys. He’s reportedly fired one of his lawyers RadarOnline reports that Bill Cosby has fired attorney Joseph Green from his legal team. Green was the lawyer who represented him during the sentencing process. Cosby is said to have made this decision while “in a fit of rage.” “He’s had it,” an insider tells the tabloid about why Cosby chose dismissal. The disgraced former comedian apparently believes that he can find other, more capable attorneys end his incarceration. Court documents suggest that Cosby has hired two new lawyers out of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to assist with his appeals. Cosby is said to have referred to his own legally blind status when using a common turn of phrase. “Mr. Cosby said he can’t have the ‘blind leading the blind,’” the source reports. “And” as a result, the source says, he “told Mr. Green to take a hike over the phone.” So what brought on this termination? Apparently, Cosby wasn’t satisfied with Green’s work ethic. The source explains that Cosby gave Green the boot “when he found out he wasn’t working around the clock to get him out.” “Mr. Cosby told his legal team that the Pennsylvania groundhog could’ve done a better job,” the insider says. Cosby, whose net worth has been estimated to be in the hundreds of millions, is hoping that his fortune can provide an incentive for other attorneys. “He’s offering $250,000.00, cash,” the source claims. This alleged offer is available “to anyone who guarantees his freedom and follows through.” To be clear, we don’t think that Cosby means a literal jailbreak. He wants to walk out a free man, not a fugitive. In April, Cosby was found guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent. This was in the case of the drugging and sexual assault of Andrea Constand. In September, he was sentenced to 3-to-10 years in prison. It seems unfortunately likely that Constand is the only one of Cosby’s accusers who will get justice in court. Some may find a measure of consolation in the knowledge that Cosby may live the rest of his life behind bars. Cosby has apparently been complaining that this is all a miscarriage of justice. In fact, he is reportedly pushing to have his conviction and sentence thrown out . And he wants the judge out, too. This sounds like a standard appeal to our admittedly not-legal-expert ears. Camille Cosby, who has stood by him through all of this, is said to be approaching things from a different angle. She apparently wants the judge investigated for “misconduct.” Which is very vague and unlikely to go the way that she wants. Even if Bill Cosby finds the most shrewd up-and-coming attorney who manages to find loopholes within loopholes and get him out … it’ll take a while. The wheels of justice are slow . Andrea Constand waited 14 years for this conviction. Appeals can take years. Just look at Cosby’s fellow disgraced public figure, Jared Fogle. That guy is still filing appeals from behind bars. For now, Cosby might want to get comfortable in prison and just do his best to avoid getting slapped by airborne chicken patties . View Slideshow: Bill Cosby: A Look at His Life Behind Bars

Jenelle Evans Attempts to Get David Eason Re-Hired Amidst Abuse Allegations

It's been almost a year since David Eason was fired from Teen Mom 2 , and saying he hasn't been missed by viewers would be a massive understatement. Judging from reactions on social media, most TM2 fans are glad to be rid of David, and they wish Jenelle would follow him out the door. Evans, however, remains committed to her goal of forcing MTV to rehire her husband. Needless to say, that campaign is going very poorly so far — especially since Jenelle couldn't have picked a worse time to try and rebuild David's public image. 1. A One-Income Household Jenelle’s motives for trying to strongarm her MTV bosses into rehiring David are quite simple. After all, it’s not like she’s the type to selflessly accept the role of sole breadwinner. 2. Doubling Down Jenelle earns upwards of $300,000 for each season of Teen Mom 2. David was never paid nearly that much, but no doubt his income served as a nice supplement to Jenelle’s. 3. Even Angrier Than Usual Jenelle is currently filming the upcoming season of TM2, and she’s made no secret of the fact that she’s very pissed off by her husband’s continued unemployment. 4. One of Her Famous Rants Jenelle recently bit the hand that feeds her in a major way, unleashing a full-blown social media rant against Teen Mom 2 producers. 5. Boring, Boring, Boring Jenelle informed fans that the show’s new season will be painfully boring, largely due to the absence of Eason. 6. Really Going In It seems Jenelle’s bosses aren’t crazy about her attempts to torpedo ratings, but she’s showing no signs of holding back … View Slideshow

Paul Allen Dies; Microsoft Co-Founder Was 65

Paul Allen, the multi-billionaire who co-founded Microsoft alongside Bill Gates in 1975, died on Monday afternoon at his home in Seattle. He was 65 years old. Allen, who was worth around $20 billion around the time of his passing, lost his battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a disease he announced had returned two weeks ago. “Some personal news: Recently, I learned the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma I battled in 2009 has returned,” Allen Tweeted on October 1, addingat the time: “I’ve begun treatment & my doctors are optimistic that I will see a good result. Appreciate the support I’ve received & count on it as I fight this challenge.” The wildly successful businessman’s Vulcan Inc. confirmed the sad news today, writing on Twitter: It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of @PaulGAllen, our founder and noted technologist, philanthropist, community builder, conservationist, musician and supporter of the arts. All of us who worked with Paul feel an inexpressible loss today. Allen’s sister, Jody, also released a statement. She said Paul was “a remarkable individual on every level,” adding in full: While most knew Paul Allen as a technologist and philanthropist, for us he was a much-loved brother and uncle, and an exceptional friend. Paul’s family and friends were blessed to experience his wit, warmth, his generosity and deep concern. For all the demands on his schedule, there was always time for family and friends. At this time of loss and grief for us – and so many others – we are profoundly grateful for the care and concern he demonstrated every day. Allen and Gates were both college dropouts. They came up with the idea for Microsoft in Albuquerque, designing software together for the nascient personal computer revolution. Microsoft moved to Bellevue, Washington in 1979. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 1983 and resigned shortly thereafter, but still was an active member of the board until the year 2000. Allen was also a prominent figure in the professional sports world. He had owned the Seattle Seahawks since 1997 and the Portland Trail Blazers since 1988. He was also the co-owner of the MLS’ Seattle Sounders FC. Over the years, Allen donated over $2 billion to charity. He was never married and left behind no children. Said Vulcan CEO, Bill Hilf, of Allen: “All of us who had the honor of working with Paul feel inexpressible loss today. “He possessed a remarkable intellect and a passion to solve some of the world’s most difficult problems, with the conviction that creative thinking and new approaches could make profound and lasting impact. “Today we mourn our boss, mentor and friend whose 65 years were too short – and acknowledge the honor it has been to work alongside someone whose life transformed the world.” May Paul Allen rest in peace. Bill Cosby: Pushing to Throw Out Conviction, Prison Sentence, and Judge

Bill Cosby has been sentenced to prison and will spend 3 to 10 years behind bars for the drugging and sexual assault of Andrea Constand. … Or will he ? His attorneys are already appealing, and moving to throw out the sentence, the conviction, and even the judge. Deadline reports that Bill Cosby’s attorneys are asking to reconsider his sentence and even his conviction with a brand new trial. “The defendant, William H. Cosby, Jr., moves this Court for a new trial in the interest of justice,” the motion begins. “Or at least,” the motion asks, “For reconsideration and modification of the sentence imposed on September 25, 2018.” His attorneys are zeroing in on one particular ruling that the judge made when he denied bail. The judge made this ruling to “protect the community.” Cosby’s attorneys believe that this ruling was incorrect. “For the reasons detailed in Mr. Cosby’s previously-filed motions for recusal,” his attorneys write. The motion adds: “(which are incorporated here by reference, without being repeated and set forth at length).” “And,” court documents continue. “For all the foregoing reasons, a reasonable observer could question the impartiality of the judge who imposed the September 25, 2018, sentence.” In other words, because Cosby is 81 and “legally blind,” his attorneys believe that he is not a danger to anyone, despite his considerable resources. “Accordingly,” the motion claims. “Judge O’Neill should have recused himself from imposing sentence.” Camille Cosby is also taking aim at the judge who presided over her husband’s trial. She is standing by him — even though Cosby’s accusers now outnumber their more than 50 years of marriage. The real bad guy, she says, is the judge. Camille is pushing to have the judge investigated for “misconduct” that she believes took place during the trial. That’s a very vague and extremely bold claim. Many have hailed Cosby’s conviction and sentence as a sign that things are changing for survivors of sexual violence. However, it is important to maintain perspective. This trial was for the assault of one woman. In order to get this conviction, they had to hold two trials — as a jury had deadlocked in 2017. It took a second trial, following the great social awakening of the #MeToo movement, to get one conviction for Cosby. Constand had reported her assault at the time, putting her in the minority of sexual assault survivors. There was documentation from it. It seems unlikely that Cosby will ever see convictions or even trials for the dozens and dozens of other allegations. Some have suggested that Cosby’s conviction should not be celebrated while so many other alleged predators roam free. In part, because there is more work to do. But there is another side to this argument. Some suggest that juries were more willing to see the once-beloved Cosby as a predator because he is black. They wonder if Matt Lauer, who enjoyed a similar public perception before his downfall and disgrace, would have been convicted on similar evidence. So far, that is speculation. We certainly hope that no sex monsters escape justice because of the privilege attached to the color of their skin. In Cosby’s case, he had been accused of drugging and assaulting women for decades. It was only a few years ago that more women came forward — all because the allegations were brought up after Cosby criticized young black men for having sagging pants. Before that, many had not been aware of the accusations, or had not given them much thought. But when more and more women came forward to share their horror stories — and others shared what they described as near misses — public opinion turned against Cosby. His downfall was years in the making. It is difficult to imagine that his judge was the lynchpin behind his conviction. This sounds like a standard appeal that attorneys file when their client has no shortage of money with which to pay them. That doesn’t mean that it will work. Rick Ross Reaches Plea Deal In Kidnapping Case, Charges To Be Completely Erased From His Record

Rick Ross Gets Charges Erased In Kidnapping Plea Deal Rick Ross finally had his day in court on Tuesday over the kidnapping, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery among other charges in association with that incident where he allegedly held his groundskeeper captive on his property just outside Atlanta back in 2015. If you’ll recall, the man accused Rick of forcing him into a guesthouse at gunpoint and pistol-whipping him. But it looks like Ricky dodged a bullet in this trial. According to TMZ , Ross pled no contest to one count of felony aggravated assault, while all other felony charges were dropped. As such, the judge sentenced Ricky to time already served in jail — he spent a week behind bars after his initial arrest — and a $10,000 fine. But after that, he’s wiped clean. The judge sentenced him as a first-time felony offender, so after he drops that cash off at the courthouse later on tonight, the conviction is totally erased from his record. Welp. We wonder how the gardener feels about this outcome… Fayette County/Splash

New MTV Show “Unlocking The Truth” Tackles Wrongful Convictions

Show Host Served Nearly 10 Years For A Murder He Didn’t Commit A new reality show on MTV is tackling the shocking epidemic of wrongful convictions – and its disproportionate impact on the black community. “Unlocking The Truth” follows Ryan Ferguson, who spent a decade in prison for a murder he did not do, and investigator Eva Nagao as they uncover new evidence in crimes where the defendants were convicted under questionable circumstances. “This is something that is very real,” Ferguson told BOSSIP. “It could happen to anyone at any time.” There are about 2.3 million people in prison, and a little less than half are black men, according to the Bureau of Prisons. Of the number of incarcerated, the show estimates there are as many as 60,000 innocent people who are currently locked up. Ferguson himself was convicted of murder and spent his 20s behind bars, until witnesses in his case recanted. He filed an appeal, and a judge ordered him released. He now has a lawsuit pending against the prosecutors and law enforcement who pushed for his conviction. “Somebody right now is going through what I went through,” he said. “This happens to poor people, and there are racial issues as well.” Ferguson’s co-star, Nagao agreed, and said the public is interested in police accountability, especially after several recent incidents of police shooting unarmed black men. “I think it speaks to broader issues that people are interested in,” she said, “and highlights the systemic failures that there are.” The first episode sees Ferguson return to the same Kansas City, Mo. prison he’d been locked up in to visit Michael Politte, a man who said he was wrongly convicted of bludgeoning his mother and setting her on fire when he was just 14 years old. Ferguson said he planned to continue his work around wrongful convictions as long as he could because in helping others, he was helping himself. The show’s goal is to use individual cases to expose the system-wide failures within the criminal justice system – and its unequal burden on the black community, said Andrew Jenks, the show’s executive producer. “The judicial system is f**ked, needs major overhaul,” Jenks said, “and if we can play a small part in making a difference, that’s awesome.” “Unlocking The Truth” premieres Aug. 17 at 11 p.m. on MTV.

Rapist Cop Daniel Holtzclaw Found Guilty On 18 Of 36 Charges

Daniel Holtzclaw Found Guilty Serial rapist Daniel Holtzclaw has been found guilty. The jury deliberated for two days on the fate of the former Ohio officer, who used his position of power to victimize Black women. NBCnews reports that Holtzclaw actually hung his head and cried as the jury announced that he had been found guilty on 18 of 36 charges of raping 12 African American women and one young girl. Via NBC Connecticut : A former Oklahoma City police officer was convicted Thursday of rape related to accusations that he victimized 13 women on his police beat in a minority, low-income neighborhood. Daniel Holtzclaw, 29, faces a possible sentence of life in prison because of the conviction. He also faced more than 30 counts, including sexual battery and forcible oral sodomy. The allegations against Holtzclaw brought new attention to the problem of sexual misconduct committed by law enforcement officers, something police chiefs have studied for years. During a monthlong trial, jurors heard from 13 women who said Holtzclaw sexually victimized them. Most of them said Holtzclaw stopped them while out on patrol, searched them for outstanding warrants or checked to see if they were carrying drug paraphernalia, then forced himself on them. Prosecutors said in their closing arguments that many of the accusers have had troubled lives but that the law protects them as much as anyone else. Holtzclaw’s attorney described him as a model police officer whose attempts to help the drug addicts and prostitutes he came in contact with were distorted. Holtzclaw did not take the stand. All of the women are black. Holtzclaw is half-white, half-Japanese. The jury appeared to all be white, though Oklahoma court officials said they did not have race information for jurors. Some supporters of the women questioned whether the jury would fairly judge their allegations. GOOD. Great to see that despite some of our fears, this jury did the right thing. Hopefully they bury this monster beneath the prison, where someone will show treat him the exact same way he treated those 13 women
