Norman of Baltimore County has decided to overturn the decision of a jury that awarded more than $38 million to the family of Korryn Gaines. Gaines, a 23-year-old Randallstown woman who was shot and killed by county police in 2016. J. Wyndal Gordon, an attorney for Gaines’ family, told the Baltimore Sun they plan to appeal. “It’s devastating to a certain extent, but they’re a very faithful family,” he said. “It’s not over.” Judge Norman presided over the civil case in Baltimore County Circuit Court last year. His new decision comes almost exactly a year after jurors found that the first shot fired by Officer Royce Ruby at Gaines, killing her and injuring her then-5-year-old son, Kodi, was not reasonable and therefore violated their civil rights under state and federal statutes. Source: Alexander Tamargo / Getty Via | HipHopDX After fans were blitzed with the revelation that the NICKIHNDRXX Tour North American leg was canceled, a reason has surfaced and it appears general engagement is to blame. According to PageSix , ticket sales are “in the toilet” and the tour is in danger of being canceled by its promoter Live Nation. “Nicki’s tour could be the most disappointing ticket sales of the year for any artist,” a Live Nation source said. “These are big arenas with up to 20,000 capacities. Source: RJ Capak / Getty Isaac Wright Jr. wasn’t blessed with Johnnie Cochran -bread when he was wrongfully accused, charged and convicted of being a drug kingpin. Still, Wright found a way to level up and learn the law, eventually getting an appeal and exoneration. But the most gangsta part came after he got out: Wright went to law school, passed the bar and came back to try and convict the crooked officers and judge who locked him up. Put some respect on his name and hit the jump to learn more about his story, which 50 Cent will be telling in an upcoming project. In 1991 Isaac Wright was wrongfully convicted of being a drug kingpin in New Jersey and got life in prison. During the appeal process he educated himself on the law, was exonerated of all charges, went to law school, came back and got the cops and judge locked up. Baltimore On An 11-Day “Murder-Free” Streak The city of Baltimore hasn’t had a murder on record in just over 11 days — a winning streak for the town, unseen since three years ago. According to NYDN , the notoriously violent city went for a record 17 days without a homicide in 2014. But the city hit a low point last year, going on record for the most annual homicide rate last year, with 343 murders. This is actually a far cry from how the city kicked off 2018 , with a steady streak of 11 murders in the first 12 days of the year. However, it isn’t all peace in the streets quite yet. Though no one has been killed since February 2, there have still been five shootings — three of which occurred on the same day. Hopefully, the people of Baltimore will keep this momentum and keep the violence to a minimum! Getty Continue reading →
