According to NBC 4: A former teacher’s aide at a special needs school in San Dimas was sentenced to jail time Monday after pleading guilty to having sex and a baby with a teenage student, according to court officials. Mandy Morales, who worked at Canyon View School, was given a year in jail and three years’ probation, and ordered to attend sex offender counseling and parenting classes, a clerk at the Pomona Courthouse told NBC4. A felony complaint for an arrest warrant had accused Morales, now 31, of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under age 16 between Oct. 1, 2011, and July 5, 2012. Authorities became aware of the relationship in December 2012 but waited to take legal action until DNA tests confirmed the baby girl’s father, Sgt. Peter Hahn of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told NBC4 when Morales was arrested last summer. Canyon View School — a private K-12 school in San Dimas, about 30 miles east of LA — provides education to students aged 6 to 22 with special needs, according to its website.
