Texas Cop Assaults Hispanic 8th Grade Girl A Texas officer was caught on tape striking a 14-year-old girl in the face multiple times before putting her in cuffs outside a San Antonio Quinceanera party. The girl on the video was taken into juvenile detention on a criminal charge of assaulting a public servant and was released back to her parents on Monday. According to My San Antonio , the girl’s lawyer explained that the girl is an honor-roll student at her middle school with no history of violence on her record, and it’s plain as day that she did NOT assault the officer. House said one officer can be seen in the video “clear as day” striking the girl. The cop in question arrested the girl for assaulting an officer, but the video does not appear to depict the young girl raising her hands to him at all before catching two or three fists from the grown man to her face. SMH!!! Texas is really becoming a hotbed for this shady cop activity . Sadly, incidents like this one aren’t even shocking anymore. Let’s see if this cop faces any real disciplinary action… YouTube/Splash

It’s hard to think of two more contrasting crooners than the pair who took to the American Idol stage last night. We had Nicki Minaj, who gyrated about and delivered an energetic performance of ” Starships ,” scantily-clad outfit and all. And then we had the season 10 champion Scotty McCreery, a laid back country boy who lets his deep, mature voice do all the work, in this case standing behind a mic and belting out a version of his new single, “Water Tower Town.” McCreery was also presented, as seen here, with a framed, enlarged version of his platinum debut album, “Clear as Day.” Which season 11 contestant might duplicate this success? Scotty McCreery Debut Album Goes Gold

Scotty McCreery is having a good week. The most recent American Idol winner was named Best New Artist at last night’s American Country Awards , accepting the trophy via a live performance, as seen here: Scotty McCreery Wins, Performs! The young crooner also watched his debut album, “Clear as Day,” surpass 500,000 sold copies, a feat that took only two months to accomplish. It currently sits atop the Billboard Country Albums chart. “It’s huge,” Scotty said in a statement. “Every artist dreams of a gold album and works hard for it, so it’s a major accomplishment to have your debut album go gold. This is just incredible.” Way to go, Scotty M! We’re very happy to see you overcome this Thanksgiving incident .

Scotty McCreery to Tour with Brad Paisley

It’s a great time to be Scotty McCreery. The American Idol champion releases his debut album (“Clear as Day”) in a week and has also just announced that he’ll tour with country superstar Brad Paisley in 2012! Scotty McCreery in Concert Cities, dates and other details will soon be released, but Scotty has Tweeted how “it’s really humbling that somebody like him would invite me to tour w/ him,” adding: “I just hope i’m ready for any pranks he throws my way.” Since he was crowned the season 10 winner in May, McCreery’s exclusive Wal-Mart CD has sold 185,000 copies, and his first single, “ I Love You This Big ,” reached number 15 on Billboard‘s Country Songs chart. Far from shabby for the young artist.
