Here’s an America’s Funniest video that never actually went viral – at least not that I know of – of what looks like a drunk girl at the cottage doing a little Ma Carina on the couch with her friends for her dad…you know it’s what dad’s make all their 18 year old daughters do for them after getting them drunk… But then again, there is no dad in the sidelines of the video, so maybe my story is entirely fabricated…who can tell…but someone had to hold the video camera…of girl right when the ROOFIES kicked in…so that she doesn’t remember what happens next…. Hey Ma Carina…. But I got to see it again at the Cottage Life Show in Toronto and it is actually very interesting; instead of the usual design where the blades turn a shaft which is connected to a generator, here the whole thing is a generator, with magnets at the tips of the blade whizzing past stator coils in the ring on the perimeter. … Read the full story on TreeHugger

Weekday Vegetarian: A Little Advance Planning to Make an Eggplant Torta

Photo: Kelly Rossiter I arrived home from my cottage last week to find a rather large number of eggplant ready for harvest.I was quite happy with the harvest we had throughout August, and I thought we were more or less done with them. I was a bit surprised to find 5 or 6 ready to eat with another 4 or 5 at a smaller stage and a number of flowers. I imagine that the frost will hit before those flowers come to fruition, but maybe I’ll be lucky and get some more eggplant in October.
