Lamar Odom: A Timeline of Tragedy

With  Lamar Odom fighting for his life in a Las Vegas hospital, it's worth sadly remembering all the former basketball star has been through. 1. Left All Alone Lamar’s mother died of cancer when he as 12 years old. His father, Joe Odom, was addicted to heroine and scarcely in the picture when Odom was a child. 2. Off-Court Troubles Odom was a high school phenom on the basketball court. However, academic troubles (along with a citation for soliciting prostitution) plagued Odom prior to him transferring from UNLV to the University of Rhode Island. 3. On to the NBA Odom was selected fourth overall in the 1999 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers. A couple years later, he was suspended twice in an eight-month span for marijuana use. 4. Goodbye to Grandma In 2003, Odom’s maternal grandmother Mildred, who helped raise him, passed away. 5. An Unspeakable Loss Three years later, Odom’s 6-month-old son, Jayden, died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome while sleeping in his crib. 6. Another Death in the Family In 2011, a 24-year-old cousin to whom Lamar was close was murdered while Odom was in New York to shoot a Nike commercial. View Slideshow

Ex Files: Liza Morales Says “I Don’t Know If Khloe’s Good Maternally” And Says She Doesn’t Look Like Khloe, “I Was Here First So She Has A Resemblance To Me!”

SMH @ Liza talking about she don’t look like Khloe, Khloe looks like her! Anyway, apparently Liza isn’t impressed with Khloe as a stepmom either. Via RadarOnline reports : Lamar Odom’s ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Liza Morales doesn’t exactly give his wife Khloe Kardashian a ringing endorsement when it comes to the reality star’s skills as a step-parent. “I don’t know if she’s good maternally, I don’t know,” said Morales, whose two kids with the L.A. Clippers forward have spent lots of time with their step-mom, who has desperately been trying to get pregnant since her wedding three years ago. “As long as my kids are good, I’m good,” Morales told Starter Wives Confidential. “As long as my kids are taken care of and I haven’t heard anything negative, then I’m good.” Asked about her striking resemblance to the youngest of the three Kardashian sisters, Liza said, “I’m 100 percent Puerto Rican, and I was here first. “I was here first, so she has a resemblance to me. I don’t see it. We both have dark hair. We both have a cherub face. I don’t think we look alike, but I have heard it. Imitation is a form of flattery!” Also in the chat, Liza shared that her relationship with the hoops star crumbled after their third child, son Jayden, tragically died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in 2006 at just 6 months old. She went on to claim that Odom refused to open up about their heartbreaking loss, they grew distant and he eventually upped and left. “Who abandons their lady?” she asked. Liza can be seen on Starter Wives Confidential, which airs Tuesdays on TLC at 9/8c. We like Liza, but we like Khloe too. And they do look alike — regardless of who was first. This interview comes off a little bit catty but it could have been much worse, riiiiiight?

ChitChatter: Lamar Odom’s Baby Mama Liza Morales Talks Relationship With Khloe, The Loss Of Their Son Jayden, And Her New Book!

This is one “basketball wife” that has avoided all the drama and fawkery. Liza Morales Chats About Her New Book, Her Kids, Lamar & Khloe You may remember Liza’s interview with our homies over at The Breakfast Club a few months back. This time, Lammy’s baby mama digs a bit deeper into her new life without the struggling NBA baller. According to MommysDirtyLittleSecret: On the loss of their son Jayden to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome): Liza: Jayden was born Dec. 15th 2005 and died of SIDS at 6 months. My mother and I found him in the crib. SIDS was just something you hear about. I knew no one who had been affected by it. I would say that I had never lost anyone in my life until Jayden. For Lamar — he had experienced loss, loosing his Mom. The loss was traumatic for both of us. We just dealt with it in different ways. I had to depend on my spirituality. Things happen for a reason and I went through it alone for a reason. Its not the type of loss to share with just anybody. Most people can’t relate and thank God most can’t. Lamar turned to work. He had his music he was working on, clothing company and an artist he was working with — thats how he dealt. I was alone during that time, but at least I had my family and friends. The lost never leaves you, but it does get better. We have pictures of Jayden around the house and the kids and I talk about him all the time. We are in a place of peace and acceptance. On dating and what kind of man she wants: Liza: I do date, but there’s no one special right now. It’s my fault I’m picky! I like a smart guy. Anderson Cooper and JT Holmes are my CNN secret crush. I enjoy getting my world news from a smart man, TJ Holmes has a smart man swag (LOL). A guy has to be willing to take a back seat to my kids and have a life of his own. I definitely am open to love and I want more kids. I really love children. I think that’s why having my own children’s clothing line was so natural for me. Hit the flipper to read more about Liza’s clothing line, her relationship with Lamar, and his relationship with their children.

Breast-Feeding Would Save Lives, Money As Per Study

CHICAGO (AP) — Lives of nearly 900 babies would be saved each year, along with billions of dollars, if 90% of U.S. women breast-fed their babies for the first six months of life, a cost analysis says. The findings suggest that there are hundreds of deaths and many more costly illnesses each year from health problems that breast-feeding may help prevent. These include stomach viruses, ear infections, asthma, juvenile diabetes, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and even childhood leukemia. > > Read More Breast-Feeding Would Save Lives, Money As Per Study is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading
