Mother Murders Her Children After Losing Custody To Their Father A California mother who recently lost custody of her 2 children has been charged with doing the unthinkable and taking their lives before trying to take her own. via ABC News A mother involved in a contentious custody case has been charged with killing her 13-year-old autistic son and 9-year-old daughter in California after a judge ordered them returned to their father in Georgia. Authorities weren’t releasing many details, but one of the special circumstances filed by prosecutors against 42-year-old Marilyn Edge alleges the children were poisoned. Edge, of Scottsdale, Ariz., is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday. She was charged Monday with two counts of murder with special circumstances in the deaths of her daughter Faith and son Jaelen. Edge lost custody of them on Wednesday in a Georgia case then texted her ex-husband, Mark Edge, two days later that she would bring the children back on Sunday, his attorney Marian Weeks said. The children were found Saturday in a Santa Ana hotel room. Mark Edge was informed about the death of the children early Sunday by Atlanta police and was taken to a hospital for duress. Marilyn Edge could be eligible for the death penalty if convicted. She was driving a car that crashed Saturday into an electrical box outside a shopping complex in Costa Mesa. She refused to get out of the car and tried to choke herself with an electrical cord as rescuers attempted to free her, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. Woman Arrested After Posting Photo Of Herself Dangling Baby Over Balcony On Instagram Via Tampa Bay News 9 reports: A 25-year-old woman faces child neglect charges after posting a photo on social media that showed her dangling her baby over an apartment balcony, 12 feet off the ground. Friends of Aisha Jean Clark called Tampa police on Tuesday after spotting the photo on Instagram. Police said when they arrived at her apartment on Nuccio Parkway, they asked Clark if she knew why they were there. They said she laughed and went inside the apartment to get her iPad, pulled up her Instagram account, and showed them the picture. Police then arrested Clark and she allegedly told them, “I was mad and I was making a point. I can do what I want with my baby. Nobody can stop me.” In the criminal report, an officer concluded, “This single act would reasonably be expected to have resulted in serious physical injury or substantial risk of death to the infant.” Clark and her baby were wearing the same clothes as they were in the photo. When asked outside the jail if she dangled her child, she responded by saying, “If you all don’t get out of my face…You need to get out of my face.” When asked about being charged with child neglect of her own child, she said, “I don’t care, you get out of my face.” When asked why she would take the picture, she repeated the same answer. San Diego Parents Arrested When 4-Month-Old Dies After Being Left In Car Overnight Via FoxSanDiego The parents of a 4-month-old baby, who died after allegedly being left inside a parked car at an El Cajon apartment complex overnight, were arrested, authorities announced Sunday. The child did not respond to paramedics’ rescue efforts and was taken to a hospital, where the baby died, police said. Its gender and name were not released, and police would not confirm a newspaper report that the infant was a boy. According to police, the parents left the baby in their car overnight after returning from shopping on Friday. The infant was discovered in the vehicle by family members shortly before calling the police at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both parents were arrested and later booked into the county jail. The father, 30-year-old Israel Soto, was charged with willful cruelty to a child with injury or death. The 23-year-old mother, Jessica Quezada, was charged with willful cruelty to a child with injury or death and charged with possession of a control substance. Child protective services took the couple’s three other children, ages 1 to 3-years-old, into custody. San Diego County Medical Examiner Office has yet to determine the exact cause of death of the infant at this time. The incident remains under investigation. Mother Arrested For Forcing Child To Take Lewd Pictures According to Mail Online A mother has been arrested after she allegedly forced her young daughter to take freaky photographs of her to send to her inmate fiancé. Jodi Roberts, from Wabash Valley, Indiana, is facing a federal charge of conducting a performance harmful to minors after making her nine-year-old child take naked pictures of her in sexually graphic poses, authorities said. Roberts’ actions were discovered when prison guards opened a letter containing the lewd pictures that was addressed to her fiancé Jeremiah LaMaster last week. Roberts, a gas station cashier, is due to appear in court over the charge but a date has not yet been set. It is not known who is taking care of the nine-year-old girl. Roberts also appears to have a young son. Her 24-year-old fiancé was arrested in May and charged with felony aggravated battery. He was involved in a 45-minute stand-off with police in Terre Haute as they tried to arrest him in May. Lamaster was previously convicted of reckless homicide and is known to police as a repeat offender. He is being held on $100,000 bail at Vigo County Jail and is due in court on July 23. Infant Dies In Minivan After Being Left In Minivan For Four Hours Via NYDailyNews A tiny baby baked to death after being left alone in a minivan for four hours. Christiana Nathany Sandstrom, who was just 5 months old, was found dead in the vehicle parked outside her home in Moorhead, Minn., on Tuesday night. Cops say her dad, Andrew Sandstrom, 24, had earlier taken his six children along for the ride when dropping off wife Shayna Sandstrom, 27, at work. Returning home, he allegedly forgot about his youngest daughter. It was only four hours later — at 8:20 p.m. — that he remembered she was still inside the vehicle. Rushing outside, he found her passed out in her car seat. Police and EMS workers were called, but they declared the infant dead at the scene. Lt. Chris Carey said the death appeared to be accidental and that no charges had yet been filed. It has not been revealed whether the minivan’s windows were open at the time. Temperatures peaked at 82 degrees at 6 p.m. The baby’s body will be sent to Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, reports the Star Tribune. Valley News Live reports that the couple’s other children were subsequently discovered to be living in “filthy” conditions. They have since been placed in foster care, as cops investigate their parents on possible allegations of child neglect. Just because you can use your d*** doesn’t mean that you should be a parent. Mother Charged After 4 Children Die In Mobile Home Fire A 21-year-old woman whose four young children died from inhaling smoke during a mobile home fire that occurred while they were left alone has now been charged with homicide and neglect in connection with their deaths. via USA Today A 21-year-old mother of four whose children died in a mobile home fire was charged Friday in connection with their deaths. Darlington County sheriff’s deputies arrested Hope Hawkins of Hartsville, S.C., on Thursday, a day after her children ages 10 months to 4 years old were found dead from smoke inhalation in a closet in a bedroom after her kitchen caught fire. She did not arrive at home until firefighters arrived at the scene and put out the fire, investigators said. It took firefighters less than 10 minutes to put out the fire. Hawkins was first charged with one count of unlawful neglect of a child Thursday. Hours later, Sheriff Wayne Byrd added three more counts totaling four counts of homicide by child abuse. Sisters Myasia and Kynasia Hawkins, 10 months; and their brothers, Camaron Mason, 2, and Delonta Dixon, 4, died Wednesday. This is so heartbreaking….these poor children. It’s finally time for Shaniya Davis’ accused killer to face a judge and jury! Via The Fayetteville Observer : The father of Shaniya Davis says he has forgiven her mother. But Bradley Lockhart said he often finds himself reflecting on what might have been, four years after Shaniya was sexually assaulted and killed in a case that has attracted national attention. Shaniya would have turned 9 on Valentine’s Day. “We were extremely close,” Lockhart said. “Shaniya spent the majority of time with me and her siblings. You miss those days. The first day she got on a bicycle. Her brother pushing her around with training wheels on it. You miss her scratching your car with a scooter. You miss birthdays. You wonder who she would be today. “It’s extremely hard when you see other kids in the neighborhood and watch them grow up. That’s one of my frequent thoughts when I sit on my porch.” The case first captured national attention in November 2009, when the child’s mother, Antoniette Nicole Davis, reported Shaniya missing from a mobile home where they were staying off Murchison Road. The report kicked off a nationwide search involving the FBI and the U.S. Marshal’s Service. Pictures of Shaniya aired on national television shows, and Fayetteville police said they received hundreds of tips. Shaniya’s body was found six days later. Police say Davis fabricated the story about her missing child after selling Shaniya to McNeill, who allegedly assaulted her in a Sanford hotel before killing her and dumping her body along N.C. 87 in Harnett County. Davis, 28, will be tried after McNeill. She faces charges that include first-degree murder, child abuse, sexual servitude, human trafficking and child sex assault. Her trial is expected to last about a month. If convicted, Davis is looking at life in prison without parole. She is accused of handing over the child to McNeill to settle a drug debt. “I don’t know what was going through her mind at that time. I can’t give you an honest answer on that,” Lockhart said. “Would I ever have expected Antoniette to make a decision like this or did she make a decision like this? I would not have expected any mother to make a decision like this with their child. “If I had known she would have made a decision like this, Shaniya would never have been there.” Lockhart said he has not spoken to Davis since her confinement. “Me, personally, I’ve forgiven her,” he said. “I think blame is too direct, as far as personally. What are you blaming? The death of Shaniya or (Davis’) actions? It’s too broad. Too opinioned.” Lockhart spoke by phone late last month from his home in Alabama, where he says he had planned to move for a job before his daughter’s death. He works as a regional environmental safety manager for a construction company. Through the years, he has returned to Fayetteville on occasion. He said he plans to be in the courtroom for most of the trials. As far as he knows, Lockhart said, he will not be called as a witness. Following Shaniya’s murder, Lockhart received criticism for allowing his daughter to stay with Davis in Sleepy Hollow Mobile Home Park. Last month, Lockhart said he had no idea that Shaniya and her mother were living at that location with Davis’ sister. “I had given her a deposit to live in her own place. It was downtown,” he said. “I had no knowledge of that. I still don’t know why she was at the other place. Was she evicted? I don’t know.” Damn… We truly feel for this man. The capital murder trial for Mario Andrette McNeill, the man accused of killing Shaniya started today in Cumberland County Superior Court. Sadly it seems that much of mainstream national media has stopped checking for Shaniya’s story… The Observer says the court didn’t receive any requests from national cable media to cover the trial. McNeill’s charges include first-degree murder, child sex assault, kidnapping, child abuse, human trafficking and sexual exploitation of a child and he is facing the death penalty. The trial is expected to last six to eight weeks. In February, McNeill proclaimed his innocence in two handwritten letters he mailed to The Fayetteville Observer from the Cumberland County Detention Center. In one letter, he wrote: “I did not take or kidnap Shaniya Davis. I did not purchase, buy, trade, sell or exchange Shaniya Davis. I did not molest, sexually assault, rape or ravish Shaniya Davis. I did not kill, murder, or take Shaniya Davis’s life, nor did I have any prior or beforehand knowledge as to what was to and/or did occur.” Do you believe he should be put to death?
Another day another epitome of a bad mother . Via NYDailyNews reports : A Florida mom shot her baby daughter dead near a public golf course before turning the handgun on herself, police reported. Jenna Porter, 22, gunned down three-year-old Scarlett and then committed suicide at Hilaman Golf Course, near Tallahassee, Tuesday evening. Their bodies were discovered by golfers who heard the gunfire. They called 911 and waited until deputies arrived. Leon County Sheriff’s Office said the mom and daughter lived in the nearby Whispering Woods Apartment Complex. The tragic news has left the usually quiet neighborhood in shock. Ray Parsons told CBS News, “It made me feel sad because she is lying on the ground and there’s nothing she could do for herself … and that’s kind of shocking.” Randria Walker, who also lives close by added, “I was in shock because it’s so quiet out here.” Preliminary autopsy results indicate the pair each died from a single gunshot wound to the head. So sad… R.I.P. to that poor baby girl. We wish her mom would have sought help before going to such extreme lengths.
