An attorney for the 49-year-old “Wedding Crashers” star entered a no contest plea to the misdemeanor count Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Vaughn was arrested on June 10 at a sobriety checkpoint in the upscale community of Manhattan Beach. According to police, the Wedding Crashers actor repeatedly refused to get out of his car and then failed a field sobriety test and a blood alcohol test. Vaughn ended up being sentenced to three years of unsupervised probation and ordered to complete a three-month alcohol program. According to Page Six , he has also reportedly been advised that if he drives drunk again and kills someone he could be charged with murder.

According to Shadow and Act , 19-year-old Phillip Youmans became the youngest director ever to win the Tribeca Film Festival’s Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature. His movie, Burning Cane , took home the award, which was shot when he was only a 17-year-old in high school! Not only is he the youngest filmmaker to win the Founders Award, but he’s also made history by becoming the first Black director to win the award. His movie, which he wrote, directed and shot, also took home an award for Best Cinematography and Best Actor for Wendell Pierce , who stars in the film. The movie takes place in rural Louisiana and it tells the story of a deeply religious mother who struggles to reconcile her convictions of faith with the love she has for her troubled son. In an interview with Shadow And Act , Youmans — a New Orleans native — said, “I feel fortunate to be in Tribeca. It’s crazy, thinking about that, I’m living it. I’m happy that Burning Cane is going to be seen.” He continued: “I’m happy that it resonated with people, and that it’s from my voice. I didn’t have to compromise anything. I’d say that’s the most validating aspect of it. This is a film that I wanted to make. People who believed in me were willing to work well below industry rates to help me do it, and my creative voice, my creative instincts were good enough.” Filmmaker extraordinaire, Ava DuVernay , congratulated Youmans in a tweet, writing, “The brother is just 19 years old. T he racial health disparity surrounding diabetes is on the rise. According to a study conducted by the National Institutes of Health , in the U.S. Black adults are almost twice as likely to develop type 2 diabetes in comparison to white adults. Actress Viola Davis is utilizing her platform as an avenue to spread awareness about this matter in hopes of reversing this alarming trend. She recently joined forces with the pharmaceutical company Merck to narrate a documentary that captures how the disease is impacting communities across the country, PR Newswire reported. She herself has prediabetes, two of her sisters were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and one of her family members died after battling with the disease. “I’m one of the 84 million American adults living with prediabetes and I’m sharing my story for the first time in an effort to inspire others to take action against the type 2 diabetes epidemic,” she said in a statement. “My sisters are both struggling with type 2 diabetes and my aunt also died from complications of the disease. Growing up, we just said they had ‘the sugar,’ which didn’t sound that concerning. But, when you look at the facts, there’s nothing harmless about diabetes – it’s a chronic disease that needs to be taken seriously if we’re going to get it under control.” The film explores how culture and socio-economic issues are intertwined with the epidemic. Conrod Kelly who serves as the Executive Director of the Diabetes Franchise at Merck says the film was created to put “a much-needed spotlight on the real people affected by it firsthand,” and hopes that it inspires people to take action. Films like A Touch of Sugar are needed to spread awareness about the ever-growing epidemic. According to the news outlet, 30 million adults in the U.S. are living with diabetes. So when it was announced that Kanye would be taking his choir with him to Coachella to give the crowd a spiritual experience, we didn’t know what to expect but it has happened and of course, it was something to behold. Taking to a hilltop stage at a camping area of the festival, Kanye’s set began at nine in the morning, but Yeezus himself didn’t take to the mic until two hours later where he set things off with his ’04 classic cut “All Falls Down” before eventually debuting his new spiritually moving track “Water.” Rocking a new Easter-egg lavender colored wig piece and purple church getup, Ye rocked the crowd as only he can and gave attendees a show they’ll soon not forget.
