Presenting the best-worst Bill Murray rumor of the week: The National Enquirer (I know, I know) reports that the actor has finally gotten around to that Ghostbusters threequel script he had been avoiding for months — by shredding it and sending the carnage to Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis along with a note that read, “No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts!” Fictional tabloid Bill Murray kind of has a point. 5 Predictions for Nostalgia Cash-in Sequels Besides Bill and Ted

First we get an unnecessary Indiana Jones sequel, then we hear rumors of a potential Ghostbusters 3 , and now Keanu Reeves says he’s up for another sequel to Bill and Ted’s Excellent adventure . Yes, Hollywood has the perfect antidote for these dark times: a slew of late sequels to films from those brighter days of wealth, peace and ignorance of global warming. Still No Ghostbusters Sequel, But How About a No-Budget Remake?

The egos, age, money and cynicism thwarting any reasonable hope for Ghostbusters 3 clearly have a lot of people down. Just look at the sullen group of New York Public Library visitors in the video after the jump. What they need — what we all need, really — is a little reassurance that our appreciation isn’t misplaced. And as if on cue, it seemed to walk right through the front door.

Bill Murray Craps on Ghostbusters 3 Once Again

Bill Murray has been so publicly dismissive about the mere possibility of Ghostbusters 3 — remember when he called it his ” nightmare ?” — that it’s hard to believe he hasn’t just burned his old costume in effigy at this point. In fact, based on his latest round of “let me cut this project off at the knees” quotes, it feels like the best way for Murray to get whatever revenge he’s looking for would be to simply appear in the sequel, cash his big check and put in as much effort as he did on Charlie’s Angels .
