Three More Women Reveal Rape Allegations Against Bill Cosby If you’re keeping score at home, mark down three more against America’s favorite “alleged” rapist, Bill Cosby . Three more women, Sharon Van Ert, Pamela Abeyta and Lisa Christie held a news conference to reveal that they too were sexually assaulted by the embattled actor/comedian… Via NBCNews Van Ert said she met Cosby when she was a waitress at a Southern California beachside jazz club in 1976. She said Cosby offered to walk her to her car one night and got in with her. She said she blacked out, woke up later alone and suspected Cosby of drugging and assaulting her. Abeyta said that in 1975, when she was 25 and aspiring to appear in Playboy magazine, she arranged to meet Cosby and was taken to a Las Vegas hotel and given her own bedroom in his penthouse suite. She said she believes her drink was drugged when she attended a show with Cosby and his friends. She awoke later in the comedian’s bed. Christie said she met Cosby when she was a model and aspiring actress aged 18, and he cast her as an extra on “The Cosby Show.” She said she viewed him as a father figure and maintained a platonic relationship with him for two years, but then he attempted to coerce her into sleeping with him. Norman Lear And Vernon Jordan Among Honorees; Event Raised $1.2 Million For Schomburg Center In Harlem It was where the lawyers in the Brown vs Board of Education case sourced evidence, where actors like Harry Belafonte and Ruby Dee got their start, and it’s home to one of the most extensive collection of artifacts from the African Diaspora. It’s Harlem’s Schomburg Center For Research in Black Culture, which celebrated 90 years of illuminating black history and culture with a glittering gala. Prof. Henry Louis Gates Jr., Al Roker, Deborah Roberts and former NYC Mayor David Dinkins were among the guests at the gala, held Sept. 28 at the Steven A. Schwarzman library building in Manhattan. The event honored Norman Lear, the TV producer behind Sanford and Son and The Jeffersons, political advisor Vernon Jordan, Xerox CEO Ursula Burns, poet Elizabeth Alexander and the Ford Foundation. The gala raised $1.2 million to support the cultural institution’s programs and services. As part of the evening, library officials opened up the collection to display some of the Schomburg’s treasures: Malcolm X’s journals from his travels to the Middle East, a telegram from Langston Hughes congratulating Lorraine Hansberry on opening night of her play “A Raisin In The Sun,” and a draft of Richard Wright’s “Native Son.” Founder Arturo Schomburg began collecting artifacts from around the African Diaspora to dispel the idea that blacks hadn’t contributed to civilization. The New York Public Library acquired the collection, and used it as the foundation of its division of Negro Literature, History and Prints, what later became the Schomburg Center. A Jay-Z look-alike in a photo dated 1939 has surfaced, breathing new life into conspiracy theories about the rapper and his alleged ties to the Illuminati. The photograph of a Harlem man was dredged up by a New York Public Library digital curator and quickly went viral due to his similarities to the rapper: The image, titled “Harlem Loiterers,” shows the Jay-Z look-alike in a pea coat and newsboy cap, slouched against the front railing of a building. The New York Public Library confirmed the photo’s authenticity and said that it was taken by an American photographer named Sid Grossman in 1939. In a post on the library’s Tumblr, Sylviane A. Diouf, curator of the organization’s digital archives, said the Jay-Z likeness was the first thing she noticed: “I was immediately struck by the similarity to Jay-Z and actually laughed out loud … I still hope somebody will tell us who that young man really was.” The New York Times attributed the viral photo to the human brain’s tendency to search out facial similarities as a common occurrence in our daily lives. Not surprisingly, this explanation has not satisfied the Internet. While most Reddit commenters were good with a laugh or a Jay-Z pun, the conspiracy theorists suggested that the photo was evidence of … something. The photo has reignited the longtime debate over whether or not Jay-Z is a member of the Illuminati, the mysterious secret society that runs us all. At least one website has noted Jay-Z’s ring, which looks suspiciously like an Illuminati ring, an ancient emblem of the long-rumored, elite group. Illuminati theorists believe that the ultra-secret occult society rules the world using sophisticated mind control techniques, and that Jay-Z is a member. How a 1939 doppelganger fits into that, we have no idea. Details … Certain subreddits have espoused even crazier ideas than that. One conspiracy theory is that the rapper and business mogul traveled back in time to 1939 to conduct some informal research for The Great Gatsby . Seriously. Never mind that Gatsby takes place more than a decade earlier … or that time machines do not exist. Again, just a few minor details. Another fun one? Jay-Z is a vampire. Via NYPost: An Upper West Sider with heinous body odor claims the New York Public Library has unfairly washed its hands of him — booting him from one of the branches because of his olfactory offensiveness. The situation smells of discrimination, claims 80-year-old George Stillman, who has filed a $5.5 million lawsuit against the library in Manhattan Supreme Court. The loyal library user says he has gone to the St. Agnes branch on Amsterdam Avenue for 20 years without incident and was humiliated more than three years ago by a manager’s request that he leave. He insists the problem stemmed from the library’s restrooms, not him. Stillman claims in court papers that he “found the branch manager to be giving off an odor but never objected, understanding that such a challenge to the senses was just a fact of life in the city.” In fact, Stillman thinks the library was just being snooty, since New York City was recently declared the “smelliest city in the country,” according to his court papers, which note that “individuals with different diets from different culture often emit an odor that is alien to others outside the group.” The longtime Manhattan resident and dedicated long-distance runner says the lawsuit goes beyond B.O. Stillman, who is representing himself in the case, denies anyone has ever told him he stinks. “The only time I had an odor was when I was doing long-distance running and I was sweating,” Stillman declared. “I’ve got no body odor.” When a reporter visited Stillman, she also noticed a strong odor. Fifty Shades of Grey, the popular trilogy by EL James , may be topping bestseller lists, but you won’t necessarily be able to find it at your local library. Libraries in a few states are choosing not to stock the books or pulling them from shelves, with many citing what they say is inappropriate content. The libraries that have decided against stocking the books due to their explicit sexual content so far are located in Georgia, Florida, and Wisconsin. Some libraries that are not stocking the book cite financial reasons or bad reviews for the trilogy. Yeah right. A Random House spokesperson said: “Random House fervently opposes literary censorship and supports the First Amendment rights of readers to make their own reading choices.” The book, in case you don’t know, is about a hot, rich guy and beautiful, young sex plaything/slave and their various, detailed physical exploits. Its movie rights were recently optioned, with fan speculation already reaching a fever pitch over who should play Christian and Anastasia . Def Jam Records launched 25 years ago, and Jay-Z and Young Jeezy came by the Spotted Pig in New York City to celebrate. The private dinner took place on Friday (October 14th), after Def Jam founders Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons spoke at the New York Public Library about the label’s early years chronicled in the book Def Jam Recordings: The First 25 Years of the Last Great Record Label . Former Def Jam executives like Lyor Cohen, Kevin Liles, Julie Greenwald and Michael Kyser were also in attendance at the power dinner, and here’s a look at some of the photos from the night.
