Ben Affleck: Blasting Harvey Weinstein, Staying Sober (Report)

Over the past two weeks, there’s been a good deal of speculation about Ben Affleck’s sobriety . To bring you up to speed, Affleck checked into rehab back in March to seek treatment for an alcohol addiction he’d been battling on and off for over a decade. Over the summer, however, Ben appeared to relapse and was spotted drinking with girlfriend Lindsay Shookus on multiple occasions. Now, sources say Affleck is in outpatient therapy for further treatment, and is once again intent on staying sober. Shookus is a producer for Saturday Night Live, and sources close to the couple tell People magazine that Ben was on hand at 30 Rockefeller Center to support Lindsay over the weekend. Witnesses note, however, that the Oscar winner was not on hand for the weekly after-party, likely as a result of his efforts to abstain from drinking. So our congratulations go out to Ben for two reasons today: Not only does he appear to be recommitted to his own sobriety, he also his position of power to condemn the repugnant actions of disgraced mogul Harvey Weinstein. As you’ve no doubt heard, Weinstein stands accused of sexually assaulting numerous women over the course of the past thirty years. Weinstein was instrumental in the production and distribution of Good Will Hunting , the film that made household names of Affleck and friend Matt Damon. But despite his longstanding ties to Weinstein, Affleck castigated the disgraced 64-year-old in a scathing social media post: “I am saddened and angry that a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over decades,” Affleck wrote. “The additional allegations of assault that I read this morning made me sick. This is completely unacceptable, and I find myself asking what I can do to make sure this doesn’t happen to others,” the actor continued. It’s been rumored that Affleck’s statement was a response to a tweet from one of Weinstein’s alleged victims, actress Rose McGowan, who urged Ben and his brother Casey to speak out against their friend and former mentor. We may never know for certain if McGowan played a role in convincing Ben to speak out, but the important thing is that Affleck took a stand against Weinstein’s vile behavior. It’s been a rough year for Ben, what with a high-profile divorce, public struggle with addiction, and rumors of career difficulties. But he certainly seems focused on ending 2017 on a high note, and for that, we applaud him. View Slideshow: 25 Celebrities Who Have Been to Rehab

Terry Crews: I Was Sexually Assaulted, Too

Over the past several days, Hollywood has been rocked by an ever-growing scandal centered around Harvey Weinstein . The long-time movie producer was revealed by The New York Times last week to be a serial sexual harasser, as the newspaper revealed eight past instances in which Weinstein paid off alleged victims in exchange for the silence. Since then, Weinstein has basically admitted to many of the charges… issued a bizarre apology … been fired by the company he helped build… … and been accused of rape by seven different women . It’s an ugly, ugly, UGLY situation. However, if any silver lining can come out of this controversy, it’s the exposure of sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry and how so many women have disgusting stories to tell. Numerous actresses have been coming forward of late with statements about their own sordid past with Weinstein and/or with some other high-powered male who put them in an awkward (at best) circumstance. Enough of this behavior is enough – and perhaps this bombshell of a report will help curb such gross behavior. But Terry Crews wants the public to know that women aren’t the only victims. He was once groped by a Hollywood executive. “This whole thing with Harvey Weinstein is giving me PTSD. Why? Because this kind of thing happened to ME,” the Brooklyn 99 star wrote as the first of many Tweets outlining what happened to him. We’ll just let the actor take it from here. We’ll let Crews tell his own awful story… My wife n I were at a Hollywood function last year n a high level Hollywood executive came over 2 me and groped my privates. (2/cont.) Jumping back I said What are you doing?! My wife saw everything n we looked at him like he was crazy. He just grinned like a jerk. (3/cont.)  I was going to kick his ass right then— but I thought twice about how the whole thing would appear. (4/cont.) “240 lbs. Black Man stomps out Hollywood Honcho” would be the headline the next day. (5/cont.) Only I probably wouldn’t have been able to read it because I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN JAIL. So we left. (6/cont.) That night and the next day I love what I do. But it’s a shame and the height of disappointment when someone tries to takes advantage of that. (12/cont.)I talked to everyone I knew that worked with him about what happened. (7/cont.) He called me the next day with an apology but never really explained why he did what he did. (8/cont.) I decided not 2 take it further becuz I didn’t want 2b ostracized— par 4 the course when the predator has power n influence. (9/cont.) I let it go. And I understand why many women who this happens to let it go. (10/cont.) Who’s going 2 believe you? ( few) What r the repercussions?(many) Do u want 2 work again? (Yes) R you prepared 2b ostracized?(No)(11/cont.) I love what I do. But it’s a shame and the height of disappointment when someone tries to takes advantage of that. (12/cont.) He knows who he is. But sumtimes Uhav2 wait & compare notes w/ others who’ve been victimized in order 2gain a position of strength. (13cont) I understand and empathize with those who have remained silent. But Harvey Weinstein is not the only perpetrator. (14/cont.) Hollywood is not the only business we’re this happens, and to the casualties of this behavior— you are not alone. (15/cont.) Hopefully, me coming forward with my story will deter a predator and encourage someone who feels hopeless. (16/end) Wow. We admire Terry Crews for coming out with this story. Bravo, sir.

American Horror Story Season 7 Episode 6 Recap: Mid-Western Assassin

Well, Ally should have trusted her gut and remained a lone wolf.  On American Horror Story Season 7 Episode 6 , Ally joined forces with Meadow, but there was a little too much crazy from each of them for them to function as part of a team.  Watch American Horror Story Season 7 Episode 6 Online Ally felt vindicated because she now knew she was not this crazy person everyone was painting her as, so she rushed over to find Meadow in the garage all tied up.  It was not long before Harrison, and his beau noticed what was going on, but Ally and Meadow were on their way to safety, apparently. All roads lead to the Butcher on Main.  What went through Ally’s mind for her to think that going there would solve any of the issues? Would that not be the first place for the cult to look if they wanted to dole out some horror? Anyway.  Meadow spilled the beans about everything, even going as far as saying that Ally was just one piece of the puzzle and that multiple different plans were going on across the city.  The end result? To scare everyone into thinking Kai was the man who was going to lead them through the fear. That’s not entirely a bad plan when you think about it, but it would take a master manipulator to carry it out.  With Evan Peters’ Kai in the mix, what could possibly go wrong? He has all the traits of Charles Manson and has already proven he’s willing to cut his team members out of the equation.  Meadow revealed that she loved Kai, but she quickly realized that was what he did to reel people into his cause before he ditched them and moved on to the next one.  “There’s only way to stop him,” Meadow concluded. “We have to kill him.” While all of that was playing out, Sally Keffler was trying her best to cause an uprising and take Kai down once and for all. After ridiculing him at a town meeting and gaining some support in the process, Kai knew he had to take her out.  While Meadow was left with the crazy therapist aka Kai’s brother, Ally went to visit Sally, and they bonded over their mutual love for imported coffee from Italy.  Sally agreed to help Ally prove what was going on in town, but they were interrupted by the cult. Sally was killed, and it was made to look like a suicide thanks to Facebook and Ivy gave Ally a last-minute reprieve.  “No one’s going to believe that,” Sally tried to tell Kai, but his response was epic: “Of course they will — it’s on Facebook.” This all came after Kai told Ivy he would help her get revenge on Ally for calling Ozzy “my son” after giving birth to him. So, are we to assume that Ivy still has some feelings for Ally? You bet.  We then picked up at the mass shooting and Meadow was the one firing the gun. As expected, it was all part of a ruse on Kai’s part, so Ally sounded crazier.  So, Meadow signed over her life in the hope of meeting with Kai in the afterlife because of course, she did.  Sigh. We thought Meadow was silly, but not this silly.  What did you think of all the drama? Hit the comments below! View Slideshow: TV Star Salaries: Who Makes The Most In Drama?

Rose McGowan Blasts Ben Affleck: You LIE About Harvey Weinstein!

Following a few days of silence, Ben Affleck spoke out on Tuesday about Harvey Weinstein. The actor, who has worked many times in the past with the disgraced film producer, took to Facebook and wrote the following: I am saddened and angry that a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over decades. The additional allegations of assault that I read this morning made me sick. This is completely unacceptable, and I find myself asking what I can do to make sure this doesn’t happen to others. We need to do better at protecting our sisters, friends, co-workers and daughters. We must support those who come forward, condemn this type of behavior when we see it and help ensure there are more women in positions of power. Many had been waiting to hear from Affleck (and Matt Damon) after Weinstein played a major role in their careers by producing Good Will Hunting. Late last week, however, a bombshell report revealed that Weinstein has paid off eight women over the years in exchange for their silence regarding his alleged sexual misconduct. Then, a follow-up report claimed Weinstein has actually raped multiple young actresses and associates. He’s been fired from his company and his wife just announced she’s leaving him. The reverberations extend far beyond just Weinstein, however, as his behavior with women has been an open secret in Hollywood for decades. Who’s been helping him keep his horrible actions quiet? How deep does the cover-up go? We may find out more each day, but Rose McGowan has been one of the few people leading the charge against Weinstein from the beginning. She’s been outspoken on social media about his reputation and his inexcusable treatment of women… and now she’s here to call out Affleck. Shortly after Affleck issued the statement above, McGowan responded on Twitter. She flat out called Affleck a liar because she said she had a conversation with him many years ago in which she explained how Weinstein had sexually harassed her. Affleck’s supposed response? “Goddamnit! I told him to stop doing that.” The actress says this interaction took place while she and Affleck were at a press conference in promotion of a movie they did together, one she was “made” to attend even after an “assault” at the hands of Weinstein. McGowan concluded her Tweet in simple, straightforward fashion, by addressing Affleck with two damning words: You lie. Previously, McGowan called for all members of The Weinstein Company board to resign due to their silence over Weinstein’s treatment of women over the years. She’s doing all she can to lead this fight and to expose the rampant sexism in Hollywood. This is also known as doing the opposite of what Donna Karan is doing , as the fashion designer stepped into scalding hot water this week for suggesting Weinstein’s victims were to blame due to how they acted and dressed. Will Affleck response to McGowan’s harsh assertion? Will he have anything else to say on this controversial topic? And what disturbing piece of information will we learn next about Harvey Weinstein and/or those who know him well?
