Nicki Minaj Angers People By Saying, “It’s A Great Time To Be A White Rapper,” Under Photo Of The iTunes Top 10 Chart

Taylor Hill/Getty Images for The Meadows Music & Arts Festival) Nicki Minaj Gets Hated On For Stating A Truth About The Rap Game Nicki Minaj  posted a screenshot last night that had everybody talking, but mostly because of her caption for the photo. The Queens native posted a photo of the iTunes top 10 charting Hip Hop/Rap songs in a now-deleted Instagram post.  It wasn’t the chart itself that got people talking,  but Nicki’s commentary on how the artists on the chart were predominantly white. Nicki Minaj speaks on white rappers dominating the charts pic.twitter.com/zb8lUX13il — DJ Akademiks (@IamAkademiks) December 17, 2017 Her caption for the photo began, “It’s a great time to be a white rapper in America huh?” which is what sparked all of the internet trolls stomping through her comments  and telling her to delete the post. The songs listed consist of majorly caucasian artists including Eminem, two songs by Post Malone, G Eazy, Macklemore, and Machine Gun Kelly.   She also insisted that she didn’t say anything wrong with all of the haters coming into her comments–she doubled down saying,  “It IS a great time to be a white rapper in America. I wanna sign one for my new label.” Though she shouldn’t have to clarify her statements (since they’re absolutely true), she didn’t say anything negative about the chart domination by white rappers, she simply stated what the chart itself already showed. It’s hard for people to argue anything Minaj said, when the top 10 charts show only 2 songs by black artists assisting Nicki’s caption. Before she deleted the photo, she also responded to a lot of comments under the post defending her caption and saying that she wants to sign a white rapper.  Keep on fighting the good fight, sis.

Zayn Malik Cancels Peformance Due to Severe Anxiety

It’s been a little more than a year since Zayn Malik quit One Direction to pursue a solo career, and by all accounts, it seemed to be a solid decision. In January, he released his debut solo track “Pillowtalk,” which quickly shot to the number one spot on the iTunes charts. The song was a tremendous radio hit, even though Harry Styles may not have loved it . His success earned him a headlining spot at the Capital Summertime Ball music festival in the UK on June 11, which also featured artists like Ariana Grande, Nick Jonas and Lukas Graham. But at the last minute, Zayn pulled out, citing crippling anxiety as the cause. Just one and a half hours before his scheduled performance, the singer shared this message to Instagram: “To all those people who have been waiting to see me perform at the Capital Summertime Ball today.. “I flew into the U.K. last night to appear in my home country in front of my family, friends, and most importantly, my U.K. fans. “Unfortunately my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has gotten the better of me…” “With the magnitude of the event I have suffered the worst anxiety of my career.” “I cannot apologise enough but I want to be honest with everyone who has patiently waited to see me, I promise I will do my best to make this up to everybody I’ve let down today. “I know those who suffer anxiety will understand and I hope those who don’t can empathises with my situation.” Fans might be initially confused. After all, Zayn has experience performing in front of many thousands of people during his time with One Direction. But this sounds like more than a simple case of nerves. For those who suffer on a deep level, anxiety can indeed be debilitating. Earlier this month, Zayn and his girlfriend Gigi Hadid reportedly broke up , which may have imposed added stress on the singer. Some reports have claimed the two have gotten back together already, but whatever the case, we hope Zayn finds the peace he needs. View Slideshow: 25 Celebrities Who Suffer From Mental Illness

Harry Styles: Zayn Malik’s New Song SUCKS!

Earlier today, Zayn Malik dropped his debut solo single “Pillowtalk,” the first song off his upcoming album, “Mind of Mine.” Just hours after it was released, the track shot to the number one spot on the iTunes charts, thanks in no small part to an accompanying steamy music video featuring Zayn and his girlfriend Gigi Hadid . But there is one individual who is decidedly NOT a fan: Harry Styles. Zayn’s former One Direction band mate dissed the song big time, according to HollywoodLife . “Harry thinks it’s called ‘Pillowtalk’ because the song puts you to sleep,” an insider told the site . “He really doesn’t think that it is as good as anything that 1D has done with or without Zayn.” Well, the man has a right to his opinion, but it kinda sounds like sour grapes to me. Perhaps Harry is peeved that Zayn has been trash talking the band of late. Earlier in the week, Zayn confessed that he never really wanted to be a part of 1D and just sort of did it because it was “there at the time.” He went on to state that 1D’s music just wasn’t his “cup of tea,” and he thought the rest of the boys knew it at the time. Maybe someone needs to tell Harry that just because Zayn’s doing well doesn’t mean 1D can’t, too.  If, of course, they are actually still together. The band is currently on hiatus for an indefinite amount of time, and many fans are speculating that the band has in fact called it quits for good. Looks like Zayn’s jumping ship might’ve been one of the best decisions he’s ever made.

BOSSIP Exclusive: Meet 2 Milly – The Man Behind The “Milly Rock”

Brooklyn Rapper Talks Milly Rock’s Origins And Reveals The Major Advice Travis Scott Gave Him Move over Bobby Shmurda, there’s a new dance craze borne out of Brooklyn that’s sweeping social media. Thousands of people – including Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa and Rihanna – have uploaded videos of themselves doing the “Milly Rock,” and 2 Milly, the rapper behind the dance craze, said the song is all about his life and style. He said he’d been performing the dance for years at shows but only recently decided to name it the Milly Rock. “Milly Rock is a 100 percent me track,” 2 Milly told BOSSIP. “That was all me. I really didn’t look elsewhere.” 2 Milly released the single on iTunes last week, and it made the iTunes top 200 song chart. And with “Milly Rock” being the most added single on urban radio last week, the tune is poised to go mainstream. In the song, the 25-year-old raps about repping his block, Gates Avenue in Bed-Stuy, rocking Polo gear, Milly Rocking atop cars, and in one instance dancing for four days straight. “That was all real life,” he said, and part of a strategy his rap mentors Maino and Travis $cott advised him to do. “Be yourself, just be yourself,” 2 Milly said they told him. “They said the game will try to change you, people will try to change you, try to make you into what they want you to be.” 2 Milly hopes to use the song’s success to introduce his rap collective, the Stack Paper crew, to the world with a mixtape around Christmastime. “I’m not the only one in my camp,” he said. “It’s not just 2 Milly, Milly Rock. It’s a group of us.” Jennifer H. Cunningham

Bye Tidal? Drake Helps Announce Apple Music Streaming Service

Apple Announces New Music Streaming Service Is Apple’s music streaming service about to blow Jay Z’s highly criticized Tidal out of the water? Apple announced their (rather late) entry into the streaming/radio game at WWDC 2015, with help from Drake and The Weeknd . Via SPIN : Apple’s Worldwide Developers’ Conference began today in San Francisco, and as expected the keynote speech involved the big unveiling of their new music streaming service, Apple Music. Much like TIDAL’s recent launch, the speech emphasized the benefits of the service for artists trumpeting how it will “provides all artists, even the kids in their bedrooms, a way to engage with their audience.”According to reports from Gizmodo, Apple Music will feature all of the iTunes, available to buy or stream, as well as a new 24-hour radio station called Beats 1, which will count ex-BBC icon Zane Lowe and Hot 97’s Ebro Darden, among others. Fresh off his Governors Ball appearance, Drake stopped by to introduce another feature of the service called “Connect,” which allows artists to upload songs, videos, and photos to their own page on the site. “The dream of being a new artist like myself five years ago and connecting directly with the audience has never been more real,” he said. Drake didn’t offer a performance of any sort, but his old pal the Weeknd stopped by at the end of his keynote to debut “I Can’t Feel My Face.” The service will reportedly cost $9.99 a month, after three free months, and family plans for up to six users will be available for $14.99. But even if you don’t pay for the service, you’ll still be able to use it to “follow your favorite artists” and listen to Beats 1. More details will undoubtedly surface soon, as Apple Music is set for release by the end of this month. It’ll hit Apple devices as soon as June 30 and then will be available on Windows and Android devices at some point in the fall. Do you think that the Apple’s onto something here? TheVerge.com
