Ozzy wants Jack to get a second opinion on diagnosis. By Gil Kaufman Jack Osbourne Photo: Just days after Jack Osbourne revealed that he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis earlier this year, rocker dad Ozzy Osbourne has come out encouraging his son to get a second opinion. Ozzy, 63, told Britain’s Hello! magazine that he was, “misdiagnosed with MS a few years ago. It took them six months to work out I have a rare hereditary tremor called Parkin Syndrome.” Given his experience, Ozzy has told Jack that he should undergo further testing to make certain that he has MS and not some other illness that may be curable. Jack underwent tests in April following the birth of his daughter, Pearl Clementine, when he noticed he’d lost vision in one eye and was experiencing headaches. He told the magazine that MS is not unknown in his family. “Mum took it really quite hard,” Jack said. “My uncle on her side has MS and, the way my mum is, she thinks that somehow it’s her fault. Both my parents were handling it way worse than I was. They were pretty shaken up about the whole thing.” Mother Sharon Osbourne burst into tears on Monday while discussing the diagnosis on her show, “The Talk.” “He’s great, he’s doing really really good,” she said. “I want to thank everyone for your goodwill and messages … It’s been amazing for Jack, because I really believe that vibes and prayer help. And what I’m doing right now is not helping, because I’m just feeling sorry for myself, and that is no good. So we have to think positively and get on with this show that we love.” By the time she sat down with Conan O’Brien on Tuesday night, though, she had composed herself and was feeling more upbeat about Jack’s prognosis. “It’s actually been a month and we kept it to ourselves for a month,” she said. “He is actually doing amazing, he is so strong and positive … my son will conquer!” In the cover story of the new issue of People magazine, Jack reveals that realized something was wrong with him when he “couldn’t see anything in front of me.” At this point, he’s experiencing an 80 percent vision loss in his right eye, but hoping that medication and a healthier diet might help reduce the symptoms of the disease, which attacks the brain and spinal cord. “It’s just one of those things you take as it comes,” said Jack, whose vision has improved. “It’s all about your outlook.” Promising his life is “far from over,” Jack is keeping a positive attitude, something Ozzy praised. “He’s handled it much better than I would have,” the hard rock icon told the magazine. “He’s a very strong kid.” Besides, added “America’s Got Talent” judge and cancer survivor Sharon, 59, “Osbournes survive everything. We really do.”
Singer’s seventh album give him his fourth #1 debut in a row. By Gil Kaufman Usher Photo: Usher is setting a fine example for his protégé, Justin Bieber . A week before the Biebs plans to storm the charts with his eagerly-anticipated Believe , Ush will debut in the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart with his seventh album, Looking 4 Myself . According to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, he sold 128,000 copies of the disc. The debut was the fourth number one bow in a row for Usher, though it was significantly down from the 329,000 copies sold by his previous album, 2010’s Raymond V. Raymond . The figures were not nearly what Bieber’s expected to pull next week, but they were enough to hold back prog rock icons Rush , whose Clockwork Angels clocked in at #2 on sales of 103,000. The other debuts in the top 10 came from country singer Josh Turner , who hit #4 with Punching Bag (45,000), British singer/songwriter sensation Ed Sheeran ‘s + (42,000) and hyped rapper Waka Flocka Flame ‘s Triple F Life: Friends, Fans & Family (33,000). The rest of the top 10: Adele , 21 (#3, 63,000), One Direction , Up All Night (#6, 39,000), Neil Young & Crazy Horse , Americana (#7, 37,000), Alan Jackson , Thirty Miles West (#8, 37,000) and the “Rock of Ages” soundtrack (#9, 36,000). Metric debuted at #12 with Synthetica (27,000), while festival faves Grace Potter & The Nocturnals jammed into the #17 slot with their latest, The Lion The Beast The Beat (24,000) and TV funnyman Jimmy Fallon hit #25 with his all-star comedy effort Blow Your Pants Off (15,000). Usher topped the iTunes album chart as well, followed by Sheeran, Rush, “Rock of Ages,” rapper Kid Ink ‘s “Up & Away,” One Direction, Waka, Adele, John Mayer ‘s Born and Raised” and Fun. ‘s Some Nights . On the iTunes single chart, Carly Rae Jepsen continued to top the list with “Call Me Maybe,” with Maroon 5 just behind with “Payphone,” then Katy Perry ‘s “Wide Awake,” Bieber’s “As Long As You Love Me,” Gotye ‘s “Somebody That I Used to Know” and Pitbull ‘s “Back in Time.” Rounding out the list at #7 was Usher’s “Scream,” Rihanna ‘s “Where Have You Been,” One Direction ‘s “What Makes You Beautiful” and Bieber’s “Boyfriend.” Bieber is expected to blow everyone out of the box next week with Believe , which could score the biggest first frame of the year. ‘We have some surprises,’ manager Scooter Braun teases about ‘Bieber Live’ airing tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: Peter Wafzig/ Getty Images If you’re wondering what to expect from Tuesday night’s (June 19) MTV special, “Bieber Live,” you need only think back to the days of “Total Request Live.” Justin Bieber ‘s manager, Scooter Braun, has fond memories of the biggest stars visiting “TRL” to promote their latest record or movie back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and he wanted to capture some of that flavor tonight’s show, airing at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Bieber is set to sit down with host Sway Calloway and some of his most devoted Beliebers as they celebrate the release of his brand-new album, Believe. And if Bieber talking about his latest LP isn’t enough, know that he’ll also be performing! Braun is keeping the details about the special top secret, but did have a little tease for fans. “So, he’s gonna come in, he’s gonna do ‘Boyfriend’ and he’s probably gonna do something broken-down acoustic — a new version of one of the songs — and we have some surprises,” Scooter told us. “And we’re gonna have some fun. We want to bring it back to the old ‘TRL’ [days]. When we caught up with him last Friday, Braun also opened up about the conversations he had with Bieber as the teen star began recording tracks for his highly anticipated release. He noted that the album’s sound reflects more than just a transition: It shows the 18-year-old’s evolution. “I think a lot of times with big superstars they don’t always deliver on that big album,” he said. “They don’t meet the expectation … sometimes it’s because they’re [already] superstars. Maybe they think they know it all and they don’t want to listen to anyone else’s input, and sometimes that works and sometimes that doesn’t. “He’s growing and so is his music,” Braun later added . “And I don’t think he’s transitioning and losing any fans. I think he’s just growing. We always study Michael Jackson, and the thing I loved about his career is he never lost that 2-year-old that bounced to his music. But at the same time, you’d go to a club and there were adults bouncing also. And I think that’s what we want to do with Justin.” Don’t miss “Bieber Live” tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV! Poor Marilyn Monroe. The troubled former actress suffered a great deal in life, and now continues to be tortured in death via supposed tributes by such luminaries as Lindsay Lohan … Paris Hilton … and, in the latest example, Courtney Stodden. The plastic 17-year has released a new video in which she simply poses like the big screen icon. Fortunately, there’s no singing or sexy vegetable talk involved, but it’s disturbing and insulting nonetheless. See for yourself: Courtney Stodden Marilyn Monroe Impression
