What Will Britney Spears’ ‘Hold It Against Me’ Video Look Like?

‘Fans are really, really looking forward to her busting out moves,’ one Spears expert tells MTV News. By Nuzhat Naoreen, with additional reporting by Kimberly Reynolds Britney Spears Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage The first time Kayla Brackson got a glimpse of Britney Spears’ “I’m a Slave 4 U” video, she knew she had to learn the dance. So Kayla, who was only in middle school at the time and not allowed to watch anything Britney-related, grabbed her Walkman, snuck out to the tree house in her backyard and secretly practiced the steps over and over again. “It just made me want to move. It was exciting,” said Brackson, who is now 21. “It felt rebellious to do the dance because it was Britney.” “I’m a Slave 4 U” was just one of Spears’ many iconic videos that resonated with fans and dance enthusiasts alike. Now, in anticipation of the upcoming video for her chart-topping single “Hold It Against Me,” experts and fans are looking back at the dance videos that impacted them most and what they’re expecting from her latest clip. “She’s such a phenomenal performer,” said Robert Baker, owner and director of Millennium Dance Complex in North Hollywood, California, where Britney learned much of the choreography for many of her early videos. “She kind of draws you into her world, and that’s what a great dancer does. They have a unique ability to speak through movement.” Baker listed “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “Circus” and “Toxic” as some of Britney’s most powerful dance videos, but said it was ” … Baby One More Time” that really set off a phenomenon. “I think across the country and across the world, the same thing happened — this huge run to ‘let’s go learn that dance,’ ” he said, adding that his academy received a flood of requests after the premiere of the video from people wanting to pick up the routine. Baker said Britney has been able to adapt to the times, and he has high expectations for the “Hold It Against Me” video, which is being choreographed by Brian Friedman . “What I’m hearing, one of the early things is that this new video is going to be phenomenal.” Aaron Mix, who runs the @britneysarmy Twitter account, got hooked on Britney after watching her ” … Baby One More Time” clip when he was 5 years old, and he’s already planning to learn the dance moves for “Hold It Against Me.” “I think this one’s going to be her biggest video yet,” he predicted. Jordan Miller, who runs the Britney fan site BreatheHeavy.com , said he hopes the upcoming video will go back to Britney’s dance-heavy roots. “Fans are really, really looking forward to her busting out moves,” Miller said, naming “Overprotected (The Darkchild Remix)” as one of his favorite Britney dance videos. Miller, who started his site six years ago, said Britney’s choreography is what sets her apart from other pop stars. “People aren’t looking at what she’s wearing or the aesthetics of it; they’re looking at her moves,” he said. “She’s so solid that anything she does is going to be imitated or mimicked.” JaQuel Knight, one of the choreographers for Britney’s 2009 Circus Tour, as well as Beyonc

How Does the Scream 4 Trailer Stack Up to Its Predecessors on the Hip-O-Meter?

I’m kind of in awe of the marketing team behind Scream 4 . Years after Scream 3 opened to little fanfare and vanished into the Wal-Mart dollar bin, here they are trying to position Scream 4 as one of the must-see franchise movies of the year. And they’re doing a decent job! Let’s hear it for hype and the fickle pop-cultural collective consciousness! In any case, now that we’ve got an official, HD version of the trailer that leaked last weekend (and quickly disappeared ), let’s journey down trailer-memory lane to chart how the rules of the series (and its marketing) changed, how it lost its audience and how well the latest trailer does at rectifying that failure. I’ll be awarding each trailer a score between 1 (Lame!) to 5 (Hip!) on the Hip-O-Meter (patent pending).

Colin Farrell Talks Doing ‘Tricky’ Russian Accent For ‘Way Back’

Irish A-lister tells MTV News he tried to capture the ‘beautiful’ and ‘hard’ language for upcoming World War II prison drama. By Kara Warner Colin Farrell Photo: MTV News Colin Farrell plays an intimidating Russian prisoner in the World War II drama “The Way Back,” about a group of inmates who escape the Siberian Gulag and must walk more than 4,000 miles to freedom. We caught up with the Irish actor recently and we talked about how he tackles foreign accents and other languages for roles like his “Way Back” character, Valka. “Accents are tricky sometimes, all the time, potentially,” Farrell admitted to MTV News. “They either keep you away or they bring you in. They’re either a conduit into a character or they’re a fence that keeps you at a distance that you don’t want to be,” he said. Farrell explained that he worked with a dialect coach and read Russian poetry to get a feel for the language, which eventually began to flow rather naturally for him. “It really just initially and unconsciously started affecting the way I moved or sat or [my] facial expressions and just feeling those sounds in my mouth,” he said. “Russian to me, to my ignorant ears is an incredibly evocative language and accent, even. If a Russian is speaking English, it’s an incredibly evocative sound that’s committed each time a Russian opens their mouth.” The “Way Back” actor said he essentially fell in love with the language. “It’s beautiful and it’s hard. There’s a sense of hardship, and I say that with absolute humility and lack of judgment,” he said. “It’s a beautiful language and it gave me my version of it in the film, wherever I got to in the journey of getting there, brought me as close to the character as any other bit of research or any other contemplation of his background.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

Sundance 2011 Preview: Tobey Maguire, Paul Rudd, Demi Moore And More!

MTV Movies team will be on the ground in Park City, Utah, to bring you the latest from the snowy film fest! By Eric Ditzian Tobey Maguire and Elizabeth Banks in “The Details” Photo: Ergo Films By the time you read this, the MTV Movies team will be hurtling about 550 miles per hour through the sky on our way to the 2011 Sundance Film Festival . We can’t get there soon enough. It’s been 12 months since we last trekked up and down Main Street in Park City, Utah, bringing you interviews with top talent like Kristen Stewart and Ryan Reynolds, reviews of the most anticipated premieres, and the inside scoop on parties, swag suites and more. And now, it’s about to happen all over again. Starting Thursday evening (January 20) and continuing well into next week, MTV News will be your go-to spot for the latest news coming out of Sundance. Keep checking back for everything there is to know about the festival — and, man, is there a lot to know. Paul Rudd will be sweeping into town to premiere “My Idiot Brother,” his upcoming comedy co-starring Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel and Emily Mortimer. Ed Helms has a comedy too; he stars in “Cedar Rapids” opposite John C. Reilly and Anne Heche. And, well, what are we to make of “The Details,” which stars Tobey Maguire, Banks and Laura Linney? Check out its plot description: “When hungry raccoons discover worms living under the sod in a young couple’s backyard, the pest problem sets off a wild and absurd chain reaction of domestic tension, infidelity, organ donation and murder by way of bow and arrow.” Yep, that one is most definitely high on our list of must-sees. Also exciting is “Margin Call,” a drama set during the 2008 financial crisis starring a killer collection of Hollywood talent: Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons, Demi Moore and Stanley Tucci. Two music-focused premieres have also caught our eye. Adam Yauch has directed “Fight for Your Right Revisited,” a short film that takes place after the events of that classic 1987 Beastie Boys video and which stars Seth Rogen, Danny McBride and Elijah Wood. Additionally, Michael Rapaport is presenting “Beats, Rhymes and Life,” a documentary about the “rise and influence” of A Tribe Called Quest. It’s going to be another great year. By festival’s end, we’ll be exhausted from lack of sleep, weary-eyed from far too many screenings, and sore from hiking up and down Main Street in the freezing cold. But you know what? We’ll be psyched to do it all over again in 2012. For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Khloe Kardashian Makes Like Rihanna, Hannibal Lecter

Khloe Kardashian is featured in the latest issue of YRB . At least we think this is Khloe Kardashian . There’s a good chance it’s Rihanna, or possibly Hannibal Lecter. Click on the following photos from the magazine and try to decipher for yourself: “It’s so different from anything I’ve ever done, which was what made the shoot so fun for me,” Khloe blogged. ” YRB is known for being very wild and crazy with the content they publish, so I jumped at the chance to work with them! I love experimenting with different looks and this was the perfect opportunity for me to do that.” We’d have to assume Khloe snacked on fava beans and a nice chianti during the shoot.
