With Lazaro Arbos mercifully put out to pasture last week, a strong case could be made for any of the remaining women to advance, following their covers of songs sang by iconic divas . Okay, now the competition can begin! With Lazaro Arbos finally voted off American Idol last night, Season 12 is down to a fitting final five: they are all female and they can all seriously sing. But who has the best shot at winning it all? We reveal our latest Power Rankings below and then ask readers to vote for their favorite… 5. Janelle Arthur – She’s got a great country sound and a sweet personality, but she’s short on pizazz. If she wants to stick around, she needs to step it up. 4. Amber Holcomb – While her performance of “Say A Little Prayer For You” was great, “Love On Top” was, well, not the top of Amber’s game. 3. Angie Miller – This girl has musicianship, an excellent voice, and great hair. She’s marketable like WHOA. If, that is, she can figure out what genre she wants to pursue. 2. Kree Harrison – A total professional, Keith was right when he said her compassion for others comes through in her performances. She’s genuine and sings effortlessly. 1. Candice Glover – Her performances of ” Don’t Make Me Over ” and ” Love Song ” were, just as Randy proclaimed, some of the best in Idol history. This girl could sing the phone book and we would still buy the album.
American Idol rocked out on Wednesday, as the Top 7 covered such classic groups as Bon Jovi and The Rolling Stones and the women once again separated themselves from the pack. Candice Glover ? Outstanding. Angie Miller? Terrific. Amber Holcomb ? Wonderful. No surprises there, but was there a major surprise on tonight’s results show? Did any of these women get the boot? The American Idol results are in after nine Beatles Week performances. As always, the singers were all over the place, and tough to handicap. Candice Glover and Amber Holcomb were among the more solid vocalists Wednesday, while Lazaro Arbos came up short and broke down afterward. Did America send him home? So far, so not very good. Through the opening rounds of American Idol Season 12 , we haven’t exactly been impressed by any of the male contestants. Three prison inmates were assigned to clean up a park near the Yacolt, Wash., minimum security correctional facility where they’re incarcerated last week. They ended up saving three young lives. During their work-release community service, Nelson Pettis, 37, Larry Bohn, 29, and Jon Fowler, 29, heard children’s screams coming from a nearby creek. Rushing to the water’s edge, the prisoners saw three young boys struggling to keep their heads above water. The children’s small canoe had capsized. The boys struggled to stay above water in the cold, 25-mph current rushing towards the Washington River, and the inmates knew they were in trouble. “It was raging pretty fast,” Pettis told KPTV news. “They were really scared.” He and Bohn didn’t think twice, leaping into the water to grab the boys, later identified as brothers ages 8, 10 and 16, and carrying them to a small island. There, they awaited emergency rescue. “They kept telling us, ‘Thank you, thank you,'” Bohn told reporters, adding that the three kids were “really scared” but very grateful and will be alright. “I think we did something that any good person would do. You see three helpless kids in a river, you help. That’s what you do,” said Fowler. “Just cause we’re incarcerated, doesn’t mean we’re bad people. We made some bad choices in our lives, but we’re still, we’re just like everybody else.” “We’re just paying our debt for what we did wrong.”
