Shannen Doherty to Guest-Star on Riverdale in Beautiful, Impactful Luke Perry Tribute

Ever since Luke Perry’s tragic death from a stoke earlier this year, he’s received a massive outpouring of loving tributes from fans, friends, and family.  Luke’s longtime friend Shannen Doherty was one of the many stars who spoke out to honor him . Now Shannen has revealed she’ll make an appearance on  Riverdale in an upcoming epsisode that will pay tribute to Luke’s memory. Shannen returned to Instagram on Sunday to share some cute throwback photos from when Shannen and Luke were costars on  Beverly Hills 90210 . The caption included with the post revealed that  Riverdale would be doing a tribute for Luke in the upcoming season. Shannen also shared that she had been cast in the episode, which she felt did a beautiful job of remembering her late costar. “I am deeply honored to pay tribute to Luke on Riverdale,” Shannen writes. She continues, “The care in which this show takes in honoring his memory is beautiful.” “He is missed,” she added in conclusion, “Today. Tomorrow. Forever.” As Fred Andrews, father of main charater Archie Adrews, Luke played a major role on  Riverdale . He appeared in nearly every episode of the hit CW series until his death at age 52. The show will definitely not be the same without Fred’s calm, authoritative presence constantly calling on Archie to make the honest, upright choice. Riverdale  will have to make quite an adjustment to make room for Fred’s death in the midst of its over-the-top, fast-moving storyline. After Luke’s death, Fred was missing from the last few episodes of season three, but the show has yet to adress his absence in any way. We don’t yet know what role Shannen Doherty will play on the show, but it’s a safe bet her character will be connected to Luke’s somehow. According to report from  Variety , Shannen’s casting was announced at Comic-Con on the same day of her post. During a Comic-Con panel,  Riverdale creator Robert Aguirre-Sacasa told fans a bit more about the upcoming tribute. The episode will “reflect Perry’s enduring legacy and the indelible imprint his character” left on the show. He shared that Shannen’s cameo would be a “very emotional” one. It was “something that Luke wanted to happen since season one,” he added. “They were such good friends,” Aguirre-Sacasa said of Shannen and Luke. “When we were putting together this tribute episode,” he explained, “we wanted to make it as special as possible.” “And so,” he went on, “we asked Shannen to do a pivotal, super-emotional role.” “She read the script,” he recounted, “and immediately said ‘Yes.’ It’s very impactful.” Aguirre-Sacasa also took to his Twitter account on Friday to reveal that the episode would be the season four premier. “Probably the most important episode of #Riverdale we’ll do this year,” he tweeted, “if not ever.” He went on to say he was “Thankful for this opportunity to honor Luke & Fred.” The tweet included a photo of the script for the episode, revealing its touching title: “In Memoriam.” We’re absolutely going to miss Luke Perry on Riverdale , but we’re  so excited to see him honored on-screen. And we can’t wait to see how the show handles Fred’s passing, or if Shannen’s role kicks the story off in some crazy new direction. Catch the  Riverdale  season four premier Wednesday, October 9 on The CW. View Slideshow: Luke Perry: Mourned, Remembered by Co-Stars and Friends

Sophie Perry Shares Heartbreaking Throwback, Misses Her Dad "Extra"

Earlier this month, beloved actor Luke Perry died after suffering a massive stroke. He was only 52, and is survived by his two young adult children. His daughter, Sophie, admits that she unprepared for his death and is still figuring out how to balance grieving publicly and privately. But over the weekend, she shared a beautiful throwback pic of her dad and admits that mourning hits harder some days than others. Sophie Perry shared this photo of her with her dad. She captioned the image: “miss him a little extra today.” This is not the first time that the grieving 18-year-old has been upfront about how complicated the mourning process is. She misses her father. He died so very suddenly. It is very natural that, on some days, the profound loss hits her even harder than on others. Previously, Sophie opened up after her father’s heartbreaking passing. “A lot has happened in this past week for me,” Sophie began. “Everything is happening so fast.” “I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family,” she acknowledged. “And in the past 24 hours,” she noted. “I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support.” “I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages,” Sophie admitted. “But I see them.” “And,” Sophie emphasized. “Appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I.” “I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation,” she confessed. Sophie pointed out: “it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle.” “Especially,” she added. “When it’s all happening in the public eye.” “So bear with me,” Sophie implored her followers. “And know that I am grateful for all the love.” “Just, being grateful quietly,” she concluded. Unfortunately, not everyone gave her the space that she needed, which caused Sophie to have to put grief-shaming trolls in their place . “Since my dad died I have received a lot of attention online,” Sophie began. “And most of it has been positive,” she affirmed. “But of course, some people just can’t be nice.” “And I’m here to say that I did not ask for this attention,” she reminded them. “I did not ask to be thrown into some virtual spotlight,” “And while I don’t mean to offend anybody,” Sophie clarified. “I’m also not going to cater to any one else’s needs and beliefs.” Good for her. “I’m 18. I swear like a sailor and sometimes I dress like a hooker,” Sophie reminded everyone. “And I support causes and you may not.” “And most importantly,” Sophie said. “I am going to laugh and smile and live my normal life.” Contrary to what you may see on poorly written dramas, it is healthy for grieving people to live their lives. “YES I am hurt and sad and crying and beside myself with what happened to my dad,” Sophie admitted. She affirmed: “It’s the worst thing to ever happen in my life.” “And I am torn the f–k up over it,” she confessed. “But I’m not going to sit in my room and cry day in and day out until the internet has deemed it appropriate for me to do otherwise,” Sophie emphasized. Good! “And if you knew my dad,” she told her followers. “You would know he wouldnt want me to.” “So you shouldn’t either,” she suggested. “So to those of you shaming me for my language and my wardrobe and most disgustingly, my grieving process,” Sophie wrote. She continued: “do us both the favor and just unfollow.” “It’s a waste of both of our time,” she concluded. View Slideshow: Luke Perry: Mourned, Remembered by Co-Stars and Friends

Shannen Doherty Honors Luke Perry: His Kids Were His Heart

Late last week, legendary actor Luke Perry suffered a massive stroke and was hospitalized. He never recovered. On Monday, Perry died . He is being mourned by friends, fans, and castmates — both past and present. Shannen Doherty is honoring his memory — and says that Luke’s greatest accomplishment was his children. After Luke Perry’s massive stroke , Shannen was one of so many who expressed her affection and support while he was hospitalized. “My friend,” Shannen wrote on Instagram. “Holding you tight,” she wrote. “And giving you my strength.” She emphasized her support: “You got this.” Unfortunately, the beloved actor who entertained generations of viewers passed away at 52. Shannen co-starred with Luke Perry for years on 90210 during the ’90s. “Yesterday morning,” Shannen writes. “I got a phone call that devastated me.” She is referring to the notification that Luke had passed. “I’m struggling with this loss,” she admits. “And,” Shannen continues. “Am having a hard time with my thoughts.” That is extremely understandable. “But,” she writes. “My heart goes out to his family and friends” Shannen describes these lucky individuals as people “who were blessed by his light in their (and mine) lives.” “Processing this is impossible right now,” she admits. That is extremely normal for grief. Shannen and Luke fell out of touch after they were no longer co-stars, but then he reached out to her a few years ago. Their friendship endured throughout her cancer battle and continued after she went into remission last year. “Luke was a smart, quiet, humble and complex man,” Shannen says to People . She continues: “with a heart of gold and never-ending well of integrity and love.” “Luke reached out to me during my cancer journey,” she notes. “And we picked right back up” on their friendship, she says. “Albeit older and wiser.” “But that connection remained intact,” she affirms. “There is a special kind of love one has for each other,” Shannen reflects. She says that this is true “when you are experiencing the journey we did on 90210 and of course life in general.” “Luke and I were working on show ideas for us,” she reveals. “We wanted to work with each other again,” Shannen says. “And create something special and meaningful for our fans at this stage in our lives.” She mourns: “I will miss him every day. Every minute. Every second.” “Luke loved his family,” Shannen affirms. She continues: “He raved about his kids and how proud he was of them.” “He showed me videos of the often,” she notes. “They were his heart and for him,” she concludes. “His biggest accomplishment.” “A couple of weeks ago in February,” Shannen says. “Luke and I met up for lunch. He chose the restaurant based on who would allow his dog.” “I walked in and there he was, smiling, with his dog Penny and her bed under the booth, happy as can be,” she recalls. Shannen expresses: “I will never forget — and will miss — Luke looking at me with that smile of his saying … Shan.” That is so sweet and so heartbreaking. Our hearts go out to his family and his loved ones in the wake of this tragedy. View Slideshow: Luke Perry: Mourned, Remembered by Co-Stars and Friends

I remember the time I shook his hand. I had, like, [those feelings]. He teased me, he would tease me a lot. “He would pull on my peach fuzz and he’d be like, ‘Oh my gosh. You’re like a little lamb chop. You’re like my Chewbacca.’ I would be like, ‘Ugh, great. With all the hot extras around and these hot girls and I’m hoping he likes me.’” Uh…what Tori calls flirtatious teasing some might call cruel mockery, but hey, whatever she’s into. Of course, Green is currently getting divorced from Megan Fox , and Tori will probably be get divorced from Dean McDermott as soon as networks stop giving the couple reality shows, so maybe these two can reconnect! Sadly, Tori refused to reveal the identity of the second dude she slept with, but obviously it was either Jason Priestley or Luke Perry. Otherwise, why would she bother keeping it a secret? For future reference, Tori: those are the ones you should tell the world about, BAG is the one you should keep a secret. View Slideshow: Beverly Hills, 90210 Cast: Where Are They Now?
