In a stunning upset, Holly Holm knocked out reigning UFC champ Ronda Rousey in the second round of a heavily-hyped fight in Melbourne last night. Holm became the new bantamweight champion, while Rousey was rushed to a nearby hospital after enduring a vicious pummeling that ended with a kick to the neck. The extent of Rousey’s injuries remains unknown, but several sources have reported that there is some good news, as the 28-year-old did not suffer a concussion, as previously thought. Unfortunately, it’s also being reported that Rousey may require plastic surgery due to a shattered nose and badly split lip. The news has not been confirmed by Rousey’s reps, but was verified by several mainstream media outlets such as ESPN. Almost as well-known for her likeable, outspoken demeanor as for her dominance in the ring, Rousey remains the UFC’s most recognized figure. Her film roles and feuds with celebrities like Justin Bieber and Floyd Mayweather have helped to make Rousey a household name, even to those who have no interest in mixed martial arts. While the loss to Holm was obviously a serious blow to the previously-undefeated Rousey, she’s expected to make a full recovery and challenge Holm to a rematch. We’ll have further updates on Rousey’s condition as more information becomes available. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Have Admitted to Plastic Surgery
The first trailer for the next installment of the Divergent series has arrived. And, SPOILER ALERT, it features both Shailene Woodley and Theo James acting as pretty awesomely hardcore badasses. As fans of the book on which it is based know very well, the upcoming sequel finds Woodley's Trist and James' Four leaving Chicago – the only city they have ever called home – in order to and venture into a world far more dangerous than anything they've come across before. And that's saying a lot, for those who saw Divergent. Due to incomparable technology “centuries ahead” of their time, a war has broken out, forcing this tandem to figure out their surroundings… the folks around them who can and cannot be trusted… and whether or not they have the capability to go into battle to save the future of humanity. So, you know, very little is at stake. No pressure or anything here. Ansel Elgort, Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer, Jeff Daniels, Zoë Kravitz and Miles Teller will also play roles in Allegiant, but Woodley and James take center stage in this trailer. But via action sequences and a few more tender moments between Tris and Four. This franchise was originally comprised of two final films titled Divergent Series: Allegiant – Part 1 and The Divergent Series: Allegiant – Part 2. However, as of this fall, the concluding pair of moves will be named The Divergent Series: Allegiant and The Divergent Series: Ascendant. Both will still be based on Allegiant, the final novel in Veronica Roth's best-selling Divergent. Check out fresh new footage now and prepare for the sequel to be released on March 18, 2016.
Since one of my favorite things about this job is finding new hotties for us all to drool over, I want you to meet a model named Keleigh Sperry . Now according to my sources, Keleigh’s currently dating Miles Teller, but don’t worry, I’m sure she’ll come to her senses soon and ditch him for someone who can actually help her career. New stars name Ariel’s red boots, Ren’s VW Beetle and Willard’s dance montage as their favorite call-outs to 1984 original. By Kara Warner Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough in “Footloose” Photo: Paramount Pictures For the “Footloose” purists out there who are worried about how the Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough-starring remake pays homage to the Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer-led original, fear not: There are more than enough nods to the 1984 dance classic in director Craig Brewer’s 2011 version. When MTV News caught up with the cast and Brewer, who have also assured us that their film stands on its own , we asked them to reveal their favorite scenes that were directly inspired by the original film. “My red boots,” Hough said, speaking to the fancy footwear that both she and Singer’s versions of the character Ariel wear. “The Bug,” Wormald said of his and Bacon’s characters owning a beat-up Volkswagen Beetle. “And the ‘angry dance.’ Yeah, and everything. All the nods I think were appropriate.” “I love the flick of the drivers’ license from the police,” Hough added about the moment when Ren is harassed by local law enforcement that was lifted from the first film and repurposed in the second. “And Willard [Miles Teller] doing the kick-step right through the lockers,” Wormald said of the boys’ “Let’s Hear It for the Boy”-backed dance montage. “That was shot-for-shot, so that’s incredible.” Brewer explained why those moments were “must-haves” for him. “We had to have the ‘angry dance.’ We had to have the ‘teaching Willard how to dance’ montage,” he said. “And I’m very proud to say it’s set to Deniece Williams’ original ‘Let’s Hear It for the Boy.’ There’s this moment where, like, all these guys are sitting around trying to teach him the gangster walk bounce, and it’s set to Deniece Williams’ ‘Let’s Hear It for the Boy.’ Where else are you going to see that but in my version of ‘Footloose’?” He said with a smile. “Then, of course, the VW Bug. If you see ‘Hustle & Flow,’ you’ll see I have a love for junky cars. I think they’re the most beautiful American statement of ‘I don’t have a lot, but we’re going to do a lot with it,’ and the VW Bug, I think, was one of the first of those badass junky cars.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Footloose.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Julianne Hough says she has ‘make-out sessions’ with her dogs. By Kara Warner Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough at the premiere of “Footloose” Photo: Getty Images At Monday night’s Hollywood premiere of the buzz-worthy “Footloose” remake, MTV News had to ask the stars about the film’s catchy and intriguing tagline: “Cut Loose.” Naturally, we also talked about how the new “Footloose” compares to the old, along with how many nods there are to the 1984 Kevin Bacon career-launching classic, which will be rolled out in the next few days leading up to the film’s release. But, first and foremost, we wanted to know what the actors do to cut loose during their downtime. Check out photos of the stars at the red carpet premiere “I cut loose by playing with my dogs,” said Julianne Hough, who plays rebellious preacher’s daughter Ariel Moore. “They give me make-out sessions every morning in bed, and I love that; that’s the best.” Kenny Wormald, who plays newcomer Ren McCormack, joked, “Aside from when I dance and break things in a warehouse?” — alluding to the film’s iconic “angry dance” sequences. “I like to play golf. It kind of zens me out a little bit,” he revealed. “There’s a lot of cement in L.A., so I get off to a golf course, a beautiful green area, I love it.” Miles Teller, whose learning-to-dance montage set to “Let’s Hear it for the Boy” is one of the film’s best, admitted: “I’m not afraid to say it: I dance by myself in my room sometimes, and I have a disco ball that’s in my bedroom that I plug in.” Of her passion for horseback riding, Andie MacDowell (who plays Ariel’s mother Vi) said, “I ride bareback. I’ve been riding like that since I was 11, 10, so I have some experience.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Footloose.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . As promised , the conspicuously titled Project X — the Todd Phillips/Joel Silver co-produced guerrilla comedy — had found its no-name cast: Miles Teller, Oliver Cooper, Jonathan Daniel Brown, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Dax Flame, Nichole O’C onnor, Thomas Mann and Alexis Knapp will all hope to become the next McLovin’ — or Zack Galifianakis — when they take part in the Nima Nourizadeh-directed comedy. Precious few details about Project X are available, but it reportedly “revolves around a group of kids documenting a house party that suddenly goes awry,” and that “like Cloverfield , the movie would unfold from the point of view of the person videotaping the party.” So this is the Cloverfield sequel you’ve been waiting for! It’s gonna be the best night ever, etc. [ Variety ]
