Kids Jeopardy Contestant: Robbed By Producers Over Spelling Error!

Kids Jeopardy contestant Thomas Hurley III was robbed last week by a barely-noticeable spelling error on Final Jeopardy – and he’s not happy about it. The 12-year-old misspelled the correct “Emancipation Proclamation” during the episode-ending round, and it did not count, outraging many viewers. Jeopardy Contestant: Cheated Over Misspelling? NOTE: Winner Skyler Hornback bet big and got the answer right, so even with the right spelling, Hurley wouldn’t have walked away with the first prize. Still he tells the Danbury (Conn.) News-Times , “I was pretty upset that I was cheated out of the final ‘Jeopardy!’ question. It was just a spelling error.” The Final Jeopardy question, phrased in the form of an answer: “Abraham Lincoln called this document, which took effect in 1863, ‘a fit and necessary war measure.'” Hurley included an extra “t” and his response was deemed invalid. “It generated a little bit of controversy,” Hurley’s mom Suzanne admitted. “He was a little stunned by it. He felt embarrassed. It was hard to watch.” The paper said the show lost Hurley as a fan, though he was proud to get a chance to go to California and play, winning a $2,000 consolation prize. His family and friends are “proud of me,” he said, but added, “It’s just upsetting to have lost that way. I don’t know why it would have counted as the wrong answer.” Producers told THR via email: “If ‘Jeopardy!’ were to give credit for an incorrect response (however minor), the show would effectively penalize the other players.” The show added, “We love presenting young people as contestants on our show and make every effort to be fair and consistent in their treatment.”

Robert Pattinson: Spotted Outside Kristen Stewart’s Home?!?

Hold your horses and untie those nooses, Robsten lovers. There may be hope for this couple after all! X17 cameras apparently captured Robert Pattinson’s Durango outside Kristen Stewart’s Los Feliz home last week, with one photographer on the scene confirming that Pattinson entered his ex’s abode and stayed for two hours. “Rob looked nervous on his way to visit Kristen,” says this source. “He was trying to be discreet so no one would see him.” This sighting marks the first time Pattinson has been seen anywhere near Stewart since their split in April. And it comes on the heels of a report that claims Rob really is hooking up with Riley Keough . So where does the truth lie? No named source is on record as confirming Pattinson is dating Keough, while someone once said a picture is worth 1,000 words. That would seem to back up the possibility that Robert and Kristen are at least still talking. We’d go right up to Stewart and ask her to make certain… but we fear her reaction .

Paula Deen Extortion Plot Ends in Plea Deal For Thomas George Paculis

A New York man accused of trying to extort money from embattled celebrity chef Paula Deen has agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors, records show. Records filed in U.S. District Court in Savannah, Ga., indicate Thomas George Paculis, 62, signed a plea agreement with prosecutors last week. He is scheduled to appear before a judge Friday for a change-of-plea hearing . Paculis of Newfield, N.Y., pleaded not guilty to the accusations last month. He is accused of reaching out to Deen’s attorney with plans to reveal damaging statements made by the former Food Network star unless she paid $200,000. That happened after Paula Deen’s admission that she had used the n-word in the past leaked, leading to a deluge of bad publicity for the 66-year-old. Deen was axed by Food Network and a number of endorsement partners. Her ongoing legal drama with the woman accusing her of harassment and discrimination, Lisa Jackson , is not related to this case and is still pending. The extortion came to light last month following an FBI investigation. Score one for her in this case, though it remains to be seen if we’ll be seeing Paula Deen recipes back on TV or associated with any products anytime soon.
