Dr. Dre Beating Victim Dee Barnes Says His Violent History With Women Should Have Been Included In “Straight Outta Compton”

Dee Barnes Speaks On “Straight Outta Compton” Another woman famously beaten by Dr. Dre has addressed the absence of his violent past in box office smash “Straight Outta Compton.” The backstory: in 1991, Dre, apparently displeased with the outcome of a report on NWA that Dee anchored, confronted the journalist at a showcase and ultimately slammed her head into a concrete wall, tried to throw her down a flight of stairs, kicked her, and stomped her fingers while she was on the floor. Dee says that while she doesn’t think her beating (or the multiple others he handed out to women) needed to be dramatized in the film, they should have been addressed somehow. Via Gawker : That event isn’t depicted in Straight Outta Compton, but I don’t think it should have been, either. The truth is too ugly for a general audience. I didn’t want to see a depiction of me getting beat up, just like I didn’t want to see a depiction of Dre beating up Michel’le, his one-time girlfriend who recently summed up their relationship this way: “I was just a quiet girlfriend who got beat on and told to sit down and shut up.” But what should have been addressed is that it occurred. When I was sitting there in the theater, and the movie’s timeline skipped by my attack without a glance, I was like, “Uhhh, what happened?” Like many of the women that knew and worked with N.W.A., I found myself a casualty of Straight Outta Compton’s revisionist history. Dre, who executive produced the movie along with his former groupmate Ice Cube, should have owned up to the time he punched his labelmate Tairrie B twice at a Grammys party in 1990. He should have owned up to the black eyes and scars he gave to his collaborator Michel’le. And he should have owned up to what he did to me. That’s reality. That’s reality rap. In his lyrics, Dre made hyperbolic claims about all these heinous things he did to women. But then he went out and actually violated women. Straight Outta Compton would have you believe that he didn’t really do that. It doesn’t add up. Not only does Barnes say she still suffers migraines from the brutal incident, but her career was never the same after that night. She’s been unable to work full-time as a journalist, for every outlet’s fear of ruining their relationship with the billionaire music mogul in the present day: People ask me, “How come you’re not on TV anymore?” and “How come you’re not back on television?” It’s not like I haven’t tried. I was blacklisted. Nobody wants to work with me. They don’t want to affect their relationship with Dre. I’ve been told directly and indirectly, “I can’t work with you.” I auditioned for the part that eventually went to Kimberly Elise in Set It Off. Gary was the director. This was long after Pump it Up!, and I nailed the audition. Gary came out and said, “I can’t give you the part.” I asked him why, and he said, “‘Cause I’m casting Dre as Black Sam.” My heart didn’t sink, I didn’t get emotional; I was just numb. Most recently, I tried to get a job at Revolt. I’ve known Sean (Combs) for years and have the utmost respect for him. Still nothing. Instead of doing journalism, I’ve had a series of 9-5 jobs over the years to make ends meet. WOW. Who had any idea that this one incident was still affecting her this much? Do you think F. Gary Gray and the producers/writers should have found a way to at least touch on this dark point of NWA’s rise to fame??

Ho Sit Down: Rachel Dolezal Kicked Out Of Local Cop Commission Over Misconduct

Rachel Dolezal Removed From Police Ombudsman Commission For Misconduct Too-da-loo ! Via NYPost The Spokane City Council has voted to remove Rachel Dolezal, the former Spokane NAACP president, from the city’s volunteer police ombudsman commission. The 6-0 vote came Thursday afternoon, KREM-TV reported. On Wednesday, Mayor David Condon and Spokane Council President Ben Stuckart called for Dolezal and two others to step down from the five-member commission after an independent investigation found the three commissioners acted improperly and violated government rules. The evidence and interviews confirmed workplace harassment allegations and “a pattern of misconduct” by Dolezal, the chairwoman, and two other commissioners, the report said. The council accepted the resignation of one of those commissioners and voted to give the other more time to respond. Dolezal, 37, resigned as head of the NAACP’s Spokane chapter this week after her parents said she was a white woman pretending to be black. In May, the city hired lawyers to investigate whistleblower complaints filed by an unidentified city employee who staffed the police commission. The report said Dolezal abused her authority by trying to supervise the Office of Police Ombudsman personnel and she exhibited bias against law enforcement, despite rules requiring fairness and impartiality. Dolezal’s duties as commissioner and as NAACP president were in conflict because she actively engaged in protests of officer-involved shootings, the report also said. Bye, bye, beyotch! *waves*

Love and Hip Hop Atlanta Season 4 Episode 7 Recap: Just Like a Circus

As expected, Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta Season 4 Episode 7 left us shaking our heads and trying to remember where all of this drama even originated. Seriously. It can be hard to keep track with these lunatics. Watch Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta Season 4 Episode 7 Online Those of us who watch Love and Hip Hop Atlanta online regularly know all too well that the Mimi Faust sex tape continues to be a focal point. Why? Because what else is there to talk about, really? Their alleged music careers? Stevie J and Joseline’s utterly f–ked up relationship? Okay, the latter is still good TV. But you get the point. There’s little doubt the Mimi Faust sex tape is fueling the beef between Margeaux, Nikko’s wife, and Mimi, his … sex tape plaything. Naturally, Nikko felt the two should get together. To hash it out? To mentally and physically attack each other so one would ditch him forever and make his decision easier? Who can say. They didn’t come to physical blows, however, most likely because of beefed up security and fear of getting kicked off the show for fighting. Okay … it was ONLY for those reasons. The main takeaway, if there’s one we can point to, is that Mimi, not Nikko, was the mastermind of the sex tape … according to Margeaux. But will we ever know the truth?! Elsewhere, Mimi took Deb Antney’s advice about having Eva illustrate three books for Nikko, who she revealed some other details about. Apparently, Nikko told her that he had been taping their phone calls. About what? Why? We have no idea, but expect VH1 to drag this out. View Slideshow: Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta Cast Photos When she met up to give him the Eva-illustrated books, Nikko implied he is quite sure he owns 25 percent of her career as per their “deal.” The fabricated plot thickens. Whilst this was going on, Yung Joc told Kirk about Rasheeda auctioning off his s–t, so he cut his business trip (har har) with Ashley short. In a hilarious, not-at-all-scripted scene, he showed up to put the kibosh on the event, but Rasheeda made the auctioneer just keep going. Soon enough, though, it fizzled out as Rasheeda, Shirlene and Ashley Nicole got into it and everyone else made their way to the exits. Ashley brought up Kirk cheating on Rasheeda to get under her skin, while Rasheeda responded that she can nix her record deal at will. Not really, but it sounded good. Later, Kirk and Rasheeda discussed what went down, pretending that they both felt victimized and violated by this choreographed storyline. Finally, Joseline was hella pissed to find out about Stevie and Mimi’s management company working with Jessica Dime and Tiffany Fox. She told Stevie she was the only artist he needed to manage, which did not go over well, and boy did things just go haywire from there. Call us crazy, but when someone is screaming “f–k you, you piece of trash” and other such comments, it may be time for more counseling. Just an idea. View Slideshow: 31 Craziest Celebrity Fights

Where Is Mimi?!? Nikko And His Secret Wife Slapped With $1.1 Million Lawsuit After Screwing Over Music Company

Nikko has never even seen $1 million in his life! Nikko And His Wife Margo Sued By Music Company For A Million LHHATL stars Nikko and former girlfriend Mimi Faust may have brought in a whopping $100k for their shower-rod freaky flick but according to new reports, the reality star will need a little more to pay off a new lawsuit he’s facing… The Jasmine Brand reports: theJasmineBRAND.com has exclusively learned, Nikko has been slapped with a 1.1 million dollar lien, after losing a lawsuit which accused him and his wife of screwing over their music business partners. A music company named Supafly Entertainment sued Nikko and his wife Margo Simms back in 2008. Supafly explained in their lawsuit that they were working with a new band named Test Drive with Nikko and Margo . However, the company says they fronted all the cash for the band to be paid to record an album — including promotions, studio time, song writers, production, website etc. The company said that they then got an offer from Universal Music to sign the band, but Nikko and Margo started making questionable business moves behind the scenes to cut Supafly out of the picture and make a deal without them. However, the plan backfired and no deal was ever made. Sounds like Nikko and his wife have been running game on people for a minute. Mimi better thank Black Jesus that she figured out his scheming azz before she was helping him pay off this $1.1 lawsuit.
