WWE star John Cena hosted Saturday Night Live last night (December 10), only the fourth pro wrestler to host SNL after Hulk Hogan and Mr. T and four-time host Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Cena was pretty great, even when the episode wasn’t, full of energy and charisma and several steps above the dead-eyed athletes that… Read more »
Snooki is loving life – and her newly-expanded family – in the 36 hours since she gave birth to a baby boy named Lorenzo Dominic LaValle in Livingston, N.J. The Jersey Shore star has taken to Twitter to gush about … everything. “Being a mom is an amazing feeling!!!” she tweeted saying little Enzo is “My World”. And “I love my little man to death! Jionni is such a cute dad.” “Post birth isn’t so comfy and glamorous. But my son is FABULOUS.” Later, Snooki expressed her appreciation to the many peeps who have sent congratulatory messages, including but not limited to the Jersey Shore cast . “Thank you all for your love and support!! Lorenzo loves all you guys already!” she wrote … while struggling to get any decent shut-eye. “Hardly any sleep but SO worth it!” she noted. Not that pregnancy ending isn’t without perks. “I’m finally able to eat eggs again!” Snooki wrote. “While I was pregnant I couldn’t even smell them! Now I’m killing it with egg whites!!!” Good to know, Snooks. Good to know. Congrats again to the reality star and fiance Jionni LaValle , who proposed to her earlier this year. Will Nicole be a good mom?
Besse Cooper didn’t merely celebrate a happy birthday yesterday in her adopted down of Monroe, Georgia. She celebrated an historic occasion: The former school teacher turned 116 years old, becoming certified by the Guinness World Records as the oldest woman alive. She’s only the fourth America ever, in fact, to reach that age. What’s Cooper’s secret? “I mind my own business,” said the Sullivan, Tennessee native. “And I don’t eat junk food.” Cooper is a widow (her husband passed away in 1963) with four children, 12 grandchildren and many more great-grandchildren. She also now has a bridge named after her in Between, GA. “The older she has gotten the more wittier she has gotten,” her son, Sidney Cooper, told the local paper, The Walton Tribune . Let’s everyone get together and wish Besse a very happy birthday. Just make sure to do it rather loudly.

Saturday Night Live ‘s 36th season commenced last night with alumna Amy Poehler as host — Poehler’s first time in that role, making her only the fourth former female cast member to handle hosting duties. A lot of changes were made in the offseason: Abby Elliott and Bobby Moynihan joined the main cast; Will Forte moved on and Jenny Slate wasn’t invited back; Vanessa Bayer, Paul Brittain, Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah were all added as feature players. How did the new blood fare in their first episode? Not surprisingly, they weren’t seen much (though they did get a chance to briefly wave to the camera during the opening monologue… so that’s nice). Even more importantly, was SNL any good ? Movieline busted out its fresh new SNL Scorecard (along with the patented Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time-Player Relevancy Poll) to make sense of it all.
