Gloria Steinem is the latest big name to stick up for a pregnant Kim Kardashian . With Helena Christensen having already slammed critics who have called Kim out for her weight gain, the iconic feminist how now come out and done the same. Speaking to Us Weekly at last week’s Diane Von Furstenberg Awards in New York City, Steinem took issue overall with the media’s take on pregnant women. “Our bodies are never public property under any circumstance,” the 79-year-olds said. “It’s wrong, and people in the street who feel the right to touch a pregnant woman’s belly ought to be arrested for harassment. Our bodies belong to us, and if we don’t invite touching, we shouldn’t tolerate it.” The latest tabloid report claims Kardashian is purposely getting fat in order to land a lucrative diet deal down the line. Kim hasn’t spoken much on the topic or allegation, which Steinem says is the proper course of action: “If our bodies are treated as ornaments instead of instruments… it’s an effort to distract us. So don’t be distracted. Why bother getting caught up in that?”
