New Prometheus Clips: Get a Head Start on June 8

I’m not watching these four new clips (and a bonus featurette) from Prometheus , which I can watch in its entirety when it opens in nine days. You are on your own. But while I presume we can probably piece together roughly 64 percent of the film from these and other previously released clips , commercials , teasers and trailers , can anyone really blame Fox for emulating Marvel’s Avengers strategy of keeping the glimpses coming all the way to opening day — especially as positive but not gushing reviews trickle out for their R-rated tentpole ? If the buzz fits, wear it. Except for that whole Coors Light thing . That was just… no . [via ENTV ]

Iron Man 3 Casts James Badge Dale as Eric Savin/Coldblood

The Shane Black -helmed Iron Man 3 begins filming this month, but Marvel fans are still trying to piece together clues as to who, exactly, Iron Man is going up against in his post- Avengers threequel. The latest casting news doesn’t make it any clearer: James Badge Dale , most recently seen in The Grey and Shame , will play Eric Savin, a soldier known from Marvel lore. But will Dale also portray the character as the superpowered mercenary he transforms into in the comics? Said character is Coldblood, an enhanced robo-soldier who’s reconstructed after a land mine injury. But Variety ‘s report is careful to avoid confirmation that Dale will play Savin as Coldblood in the nanotech-themed sequel, which already has Ben Kingsley in place as its villain. Thoughts on how it’ll all come together? [ Variety ]

Sony Pictures Classics will Ignite U.S. with TIFF’s Incendies

Sony Pictures Classics has acquired domestic distribution rights to Denis Villeneuve’s Incendies at the Toronto Film Festival. The film, which already screened well at Venice and Telluride, follows twins who travel to the Middle East after their mother dies in order to piece together her past. Shocking revelations ensue. It’s not as high profile as the last two Toronto deals, but SPC has proven skillful at releasing foreign dramatic thrillers like A Prophet and The Secret in Their Eyes , so expect to hear more about this one down the line. For a nation still struggling to piece together whether Sideways Jack is maybe married to Sideways Juliet, and what happened to Sideways Sayid’s accent, and what did Sideways Ilana do to get her hair so shiny and lustrous, the new Pixar viral campaign for Toy Story 3 may be too much to handle.
