Andy Cohen may be best known for breaking news as the host of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live. But the mega producer and popular televison personality made some news of his own on Monday night. Some really adorable news, that is: Cohen welcomed his very first child! Via surrogate, the 50-year old became a dad at 6:35 p.m. on February 4, multiple outlets have now confirmed. His newborn is named Benjamin Allen and the tyke weighed in yesterday at 9 lbs., 2 ounces, while measuring measures 20 inches in length. To celebrate the amazing news, Cohen posted a black and white photo of himself holding his son to Instagram, writing as a caption to the special snapshot: I’m in love. And speechless. And eternally grateful to an incredible surrogate. And I’m a dad. Wow. Here is that special snapshot: Benjamin Allen, as a name holds a unique place for Cohen; it stems from from his grandfather, Ben Allen, on his mother’s side. Cohen, who produces all the Real Housewives franchises and often talks to their cast members on his program, confirmed he was expecting his first child via surrogate on the December 20 episode of Watch What Happens Live. He did so while surrounded by reality stars Vicki Gunvalson, Ramona Singer, NeNe Leakes, Kyle Richards and Teresa Giudice . “Tonight, I want you to be the first to know that after many years of careful deliberation, a fair amount of prayers and the benefit of science – if all goes according to plan, in about six weeks time I’m going to become a father,” he told viewers in the clip below. Added Cohen in this footage: “Family means everything to me and having one of my own is something that I have wanted in my heart for my entire life. “And though it’s taken me longer than most to get there, I cannot wait for what I envision will be the most rewarding chapter yet.” Andy Cohen: I’m Expecting a Baby! Cohen then went ahead and revealed the impending child’s gender on New Year’s Eve. From there, he was at the center of a January baby shower featured the many stars of The Real Housewives series, singer John Mayer and political commentator Charlie Sykes. “You guys were right, my baby shower actually WAS the Super Bowl!” Cohen tweeted after the shindig. He also shared his surprise and enthusiasm with Andersoon Cooper while on air on December 31. “When I was growing up and when we were growing up … I just never thought it would be possible, as a gay man, to grow up and have a family,” he told Cooper during their New Year’s broadcast. Thankfully, a lot has changed since then. “Here we are in 2018, almost [2019], and anything’s possible,” he continued at the time. “And I’m so grateful to a wonderful surrogate that I’m working with.” We are so very happy for Cohen. And his son is perfect! Please join us in sending along your very best wishes to the beloved host.
