Misty Beethoven Opens Wide for 2-Disc Special Edition [PICS]

When we talked to Process Blue archivist Joe Rubin recently on the Mr. Skin blog, he mentioned that his company was partnering with classic adult distributor DistribPix on some exciting projects. Well, we’ve got an update for you, and it’s certainly an exciting one: DistribPix and Process Blue are wrapping up their restoration of Radley Metzger ‘s The Opening of Misty Beethoven (1976), the classic “Pygmalion porn” starring Constance Money (above) as a streetwalker who’s transformed into a sex goddess by the very hands-on Dr. Seymour Love ( Jamie Gillis ). Misty is one of the best (and biggest budget) adult features ever, and DistribPix is giving it an appropriately deluxe 2-disc special edition that includes not only the beautiful HD restoration, but tons of special features, too. Now DIstribPix is polling (no pun intended) fans to gauge interest in a potential Blu-ray release , so if you want to see Misty in full HD, let them know on their blog ! Find out more about DistribPix’s Misty Beethoven re-release, including the exclusive artwork , after the jump!

Never Before Seen Nudes: New Pics from the "Lost Films" of Exploitation Great H.G. Lewis [PICS]

This is SKINema history in the making! We interviewed Process Blue producer Joe Rubin yesterday here at the Mr. Skin blog, and he told us about their kickstarter campaign to restore three films by Herschell Gordon Lewis : the “violent lesbian Western” Linda and Abilene (1969), the erotic Blaxploitation flick Black Love (1971), and the go-go sexploitation romp The Ecstasies of Women (1969). All three of these movies are considered “Lost” and have never been released in any format on home video or seen theatrically in nearly 40 years ! Process Blue got their hands on the original negatives for these three lost classics (you can read more about it in our interview with Joe- SC) and are now carefully restoring them to their original glory. This is major news for fans of HGL and exploitation cinema generally, and Process Blue has given Mr. Skin a sneak peek at nude stills from all three films. We can guarantee you’ve never seen these pics before anywhere, so check out our EXCLUSIVE nude stills from Linda and Abilene, Black Love and The Ecstasies of Women after the jump!

Joe Rubin: The Mr. Skin Skinterview [PICS]

We interview a lot of interesting people here on the Mr. Skin blog, but few of them can say their work is as important as Joe Rubin ‘s. Joe basically came out of the womb an exploitation fanatic and has been amassing an impressive private collection of vintage exploitation and erotic cinema since he was a teenager. Now he’s also launched a digital restoration company, Process Blue , that specializes in rescuing exploitation and X-rated films from obscurity and giving these long-neglected artifacts the respect that they deserve. Joe says that often when he contacts directors about restoring their films, they are shocked and touched to realize (often for the first time) that their work is remembered and appreciated as art. That’s something that Process Blue is trying to change. Process Blue is getting off to an auspicious start by participating in the excellent restorations of Radley Metzger’ s “Henry Paris” films in partnership with DistribPix and with the very, very exciting project they’re working on now: a Kickstarter campaign to restore three previously “lost” films by exploitation legend Herschell Gordon Lewis . We talked to Joe at his home base just around the corner from the Mr. Skin offices, where he told us about his massive collection, his work with Process Blue, and the unmatchable elegance of Kelly Nichols. More after the jump!
