Pupil Prejudice: Ohio Student Banned From Prom Over Racist A$$ Promposal Sign

Source: Hill Street Studios / Getty Student Banned From Prom Over Racist Sign Promposals have become the most anticipated part of prom season, aside from the outfits — but some people just take things too far. An Ohio student has been banned from attending prom after his school district claimed his promposal sign used racist language. The sign read, “If I Was Black, I’d Be Picking Cotton. But I’m White, So I’m Picking You For Prom.” Janice Wyckoff, the superintendent at Clear Fork Valley Local Schools, told reporters: “To be frank with you I thought, ‘Oh my goodness; this is awful. Kids need to understand, when you’re celebrating things it doesn’t give you a pass on using inappropriate racial slurs. I don’t believe that this is any group think on the part of the student body. This is one person making a bad decision that’s going to reflect on everybody. This is actually a terrible day in the Clear Fork Valley.” The student has not been identified, and Wyckoff doesn’t know if the student is a junior or senior. She added that the student is remorseful, has deleted the social media post and learned the power of his words. Mmmhmm.

Kylie Jenner: I’m SUCH an Outcast!

Kylie Jenner, like it or not, is one of the most popular celebrities right now. It's a tough pill to swallow for sure, but it's true. The youth of our poor, confused country tend to idolize her, the rest of us tend to see her as a prime example of what's wrong with our society. Either way, people are always talking about her , and it doesn't seem like it's going to stop anytime soon. Especially not since she's got a brand new reality show of her very own that's all set to premiere this weekend. But now, in a brand new sneak peek for the premiere episode of Life of Kylie, we're learning that although Kylie's super, super popular, she still doesn't feel the love. “I was the outcast, I guess, in a lot of ways, growing up,” she explains. “And I still feel like an outcast in different ways now.” The issue now, she says, is that she “can't relate to a lot of people, so it's like this little world. I do feel like an outcast.”   And so because of these feelings she has, she speaks with the mother of teenage boy named Albert. Albert's mom cries to Kylie during a FaceTime conversation about how Albert can't find a date to his prom — she said that he keeps asking her what's wrong with him that makes the girls uninterested. “It's not cool,” Kylie explains to us all. “Kids are mean these days and it's not right to treat people like that.” And so since she was never able to go to the prom herself , she tells Albert's sweet mother that she'll be his date … but we'll have to watch the show to see how it all turns out. So this is nice, isn't it? Getting to see a different side of this girl? Sure, her lips are still about to pop off her face and fly away, but it seems like she's finally able to show a little bit of heart instead of a little bit of body . And it really is just lovely to see. Check out Kylie opening up in the video below:

A Lil Positivity: 40 Homeless Chicago Students Thrown Their First-Ever ‘Dream’ Prom

A lil positivity… Homeless Chicago Students Given A Prom Two Illinois non-profits are making national headlines for a recent selfless act. Teen Living Programs Chicago and Sisterhood of the Traveling Heart recently held a “dream prom” for 40 homeless Chicago students that included donated dresses and tuxedos. ABC News reports: About 40 homeless students in Chicago got something Saturday many of them thought would never come — a chance to attend prom. Jalisa Thurston was one of those students. “This prom is amazing because I didn’t ever go to prom,” she told ABC News. Thurston, 23, who is set to return to school later this year, said she never attended her high school prom after being kicked out of school for “some bad choices” and a subsequent pregnancy. On Saturday, she got a chance to wear a donated off-white two-piece evening gown thanks to a prom, held by two local non-profits Teen Living Programs Chicago, which serves homeless youth ages 14-24, and Sisterhood of the Traveling Heart, which centers on girls and teens around the world. It was the first time the prom was held for the organizations. “I feel like I’m getting married,” Thurston said. “I’m glad I met [TLP Chicago] because they’re wonderful.” The room where the prom was held on the lower level of Life Center Church of God in Christ in Chicago was decorated in navy blue and white. Along with a candy table, there was also a cake and cupcake stand. A prom queen and king were crowned — after getting recommendations from the students’ social workers — and some students even performed. Several local and national organizations provided donations, allowing the men to be outfitted with tuxedos and the women received complimentary hair styling and make-up application. “They all looked so nice,” Kamelah Muhammad, one of the organizers who came up with the idea, told ABC News. Wow! What an awesome story! Kudos to these two organizations for giving back and making dreams come true!
