Are You That Somebody?? Beyonce’s Lil Sis Solange Rumored To Play Aaliyah In Upcoming Biopic Movie

Where is Drake ? Solange Set To Play Aaliyah In New Film Via All Hip Hop reports: Aaliyah’s status has almost reached the coveted mythic status these days. She has people like Drake and Chris Brown singing with her even thought she’s not here physically. DMX stays dissing those dudes. Timbaland is saying its not too late to apologize even thought he knows he’s the one that needs to be putting out new Baby Girl. OH…here’s something else to rile up the fans of the one and only Aaliyah. There is a crazy rumor that  Solange has landed the role to play Aaliyah an upcoming biopic. Now, the rumor is Solange went out for the role earlier in the month and ended up getting it this week. She reportedly will be working with the same people that did the movie “Think Like A Man.” I don’t know. I didn’t even know Solange was any sort of actress. But, she almost never has her hair straight like Aaliyah did. This is as close to Aaliyah as could see with Solange. Drake is probably sobbing in Marvin’s Room because he wasn’t offered this role. We’re not too sure about this casting, can she really play the side swept bang? Do you think Solo can pull off portraying the late great Aaliyah in an autobiographical film? Continue reading

Grafh Is ‘A Fan’ Of Rick Ross, Lil Wayne Labels

Free agent is considering his options while Rule EP makes some noise, in Mixtape Daily. By Rob Markman Grafh Don’t Sleep: Necessary Notables Headliner : Grafh Key Cameo : “Don’t Stop” (featuring Bun B) Real Spit : Grafh is on the road to reinvention. After splitting with Black Hand Entertainment , the company he had been signed to since coming into the rap game in the early 2000s, Grafh has been putting out new music at a torrid pace. First, there was his Pain Killers mixtape, and then in September, he dropped his Rule EP, which he streams on his website for free and put up for purchase on iTunes. ” Rule ‘s getting a good response, and I really appreciate it,” Grafh told Mixtape Daily. “I worked hard on it, I put a lot of energy into it, and it’s different coming from Grafh. I took a different approach. I attacked the music more laid-back, something you can ride to, smoke to.” Typically, the Queens, New York, MC employs a rapid-fire flow, but for Rule, Grafh slowed his complex bars down just a tad. “Stoned” moves at a syrupy crawl, while a mellowed-out Grafh raps about drinking and smoking. On “It’s All the Same,” he delivers a cautionary ‘hood tale, and on the Too $hort-sampling “Don’t Stop,” the nimble lyricist teams with Bun B for a bouncy banger. Though currently unsigned, the rap free agent hopes to broker a deal for himself in the near future. Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group and Lil Wayne’s Young Money are attractive destinations. “I’m a free agent right now looking for that new money,” Grafh said. “Rick Ross is kicking major ass. He’s one of those dudes that break artists — so is Lil Wayne. He makes hella money and good music. I love what those dudes are doin’. I’mma fan of what they’re doin’.” In the end, however, it is all about the connection Grafh is currently making with his fans. “Without the fans, I’m just a n—a rappin’. They mean more to me than people would imagine,” he said. “The fans allow me to do this, or else I’d be doing something else that probably wouldn’t be legal.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . Akon Says He Can Retire, Thanks To Lady Gaga

‘She was definitely a blessing. She came at the right moment,’ singer/producer says of signing the superstar to a record deal. By Hillary Crosley Akon and Lady Gaga Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage Akon is releasing a new album this year, but the singer seems more excited about his Kon Live imprint artist Lady Gaga’s success than his own. “She’s pretty much retired me,” Akon told The Associated Press . “She was definitely a blessing. She came at the right moment. I’m glad I believed in her, boy. That goes to show you, if you believe in something strong enough, it will pay off.” Lady Gaga was initially signed to Def Jam Records, where she was dropped several months later. Then Akon signed her as a free agent as he was finalizing his Kon Live deal with Interscope Records and label head Jimmy Iovine. Fast-forward a few years and Lady Gaga has become an internationally known pop star, winning two awards at the 2010 Grammys : Best Dance Recording for “Poker Face” and Best Electronic/Dance Album for The Fame. The singer recently swept the Brit Awards in London, where she performed a tribute to recently deceased designer Alexander McQueen and walked away with three awards. “She just blossomed into a super megastar,” said Akon. As for his own upcoming album, Akon says that in addition to Lady Gaga, he’s also working with Dutch dance DJ/producer Chuckie, DJ David Guetta, who recently collaborated with Akon on “Sexy Bitch,” and hip-hop heavyweight Dr. Dre. “You’ve got some straight hard-core hip-hop guys actually moving into the dance realm,” Akon said. “And that’s shocking. When you’ve got someone like Dr. Dre about to do a dance record … that’s crazy.” Akon didn’t divulge much about the Dr. Dre collaboration, except to say the record “actually sounds great. He played it for me. I was shocked. So I was like, ‘Wow, that’s dope. When the world hears this, they might go crazy.’ … When you’ve got the two worlds mixed together, clashing, it’s going to be a monster.” Akon’s as-yet-untitled forthcoming CD is slated to hit shelves toward the end of 2010. Justin Timberlake Isn’t ‘Running From’ Next Solo Album

‘I find that when [inspiration] comes up … it comes up like a freight train,’ singer says of ideas for new music. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Tim Kash Justin Timberlake Photo: MTV News At his latest William Rast fashion show, Justin Timberlake admitted there is a “blatant correlation” between music and fashion — however, for the time being, Timberlake is more focused on the clothes and less worried about putting out new music. He hasn’t put out a solo album since 2006’s FutureSex/LoveSounds, but he said he isn’t going to force the tunes out. “You know, music is … music exploration, I find that when it comes up … it comes up like a freight train,” he said. “So when it does, I definitely won’t run from it.” However, the bottom line is that Timberlake has no plans to release his own new music anytime soon. In addition to his fashion empire, he’s also busy promoting acts on his Tennman label, like Esm
