Source: Prince Williams / Getty The gang’s back in the A on tonight’s episode of Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta . We begin with Stevie, Mimi, Bambi, Scrappy, Rasheeda, and Kirk kicking it. Rasheeda rehashes her problem with Jasmine again. It doesn’t help that Jasmine has been talking smack on social media about Rasheeda, and Kirk hasn’t even told Rasheeda that he has been directly in touch with Jasmine lately. This is going to go swimmingly once it all hits the fan. As we all know by now, Yung Joc as a salon called Eshelon. His business partner, Sharonda, is the one who gave him all those wacky hairstyles that kept blowing up the #TheBlogs. Anyway, Joc has been having issues with Sharonda. He’s the investor, but she’s the one who runs the shop. Apparently, she doesn’t get along with Kendra, Joc’s girl, or anyone for that matter. She has run stylists out of the shop and is running his investment into the ground. That’s Joc’s side of the story so he asks Shekinah to check on the shop for him. Then we touch on Joc being tight that Kendra doesn’t want to have kids with him. He got some nerve, but anyway, he still plans to propose so that’s that, for now. Let’s fast forward a bit. Shekinah goes to the salon and there’s not even a receptionist on duty. Sharonda get an attitude, of course, when this is brought up. She also tells Shekinah that they don’t need a receptionist. And if she’s so pressed about that then she can do it herself. Then Sharonda decides to take a break and let Shekinah handle things. Shekinah gives Joc the bleak report about how unprofessional his business partner actually is, but agrees to have a heart to heart with her. Then Shekinah calls Joc during her break and starts going off on him. Joc is actually ziplining in the woods with the fellas. Speaking of the fellas, they rightfully question his relationship with Sharonda because there’s a lot of tension between them and knowing Joc, it could be sexual tension. Joc denies ever having relations with Sharonda, but you know he gets down. Do we believe it or nah? Shekinah catches Sharonda after her break, in a calmer state, and asks her what all the tension is about. Sharonda says it’s because Joc creates favoritism amongst stylists and gets inappropriate with them. We will finish this situation next week because you know Shekinah is about to go around gossiping. Finally, we end the episode with Karlie Redd and Mo attempting to get therapy from Dr. Jeff Gardere. It ends with Karlie telling Mo he doesn’t support her. Mo takes off his ring and storms out. Jeff stays behind with Karlie and tells her not to allow disrespect, to keep her dignity, and move on. Then they end with a hug and Karlie will probably have a new man by next week. Source: SPEX PHOTOGRAPHY, INC / SPEX PHOTOGRAPHY, INC Spice is wrapping up her time in the Gambia and preparing to head to Trinidad at the beginning of tonight’s episode of Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta . The rest of the group is on a swamp tour and all the fun touristy tings. It’s all good until Rasheeda confronts Kirk about not telling her that he has been texting with Jasmine (Rasheeda found out by just so happening to see the texts in his phone). Initially, his daughter was the go-between, between Kirk and Jasmine but she got tired of that, because it’s obviously exhausting and sometimes inconvenient, so Kirk ended up communicating with Jasmine directly without telling Rasheeda. Rasheeda is pissed because, obvious trust issues, but Kirk actually gives her a sensical explanation, which is that it just makes sense to deal with Jasmine directly and not ad middle man when it comes to their son. That doesn’t excuse him not being honest, but he has long been not honest at times, so… Later on, Rasheeda decides not to deal with it on the trip and wait until they get home, but this has become a thing. She complains about it to the Bam, Mimi, and Shekinah. They support their girl and tell her to open a line of communication with Jasmine. We’ll see what happens with that when they get back to Atlanta. Let’s fast forward a bit. Spice links with socca legends, Machel Montano and Destra, in preparation of Machel Mondays. This is the non-drama portion of the program where Machel tells Spice how much he loves her natural beauty. This is all because Spice is conflicted about whether she should sing “Black Hypocrisy” or not. We don’t know whether she’s going to sing the song or not but Machel’s pep seems to be motivation for a good show. The other ladies have a beach day, and the whole, “Did Karlie have a threesome with Hiriam and Pooh or not” situation comes up…again. Mimi fans the flames by mentioning that the story has mysteriously leaked to #TheBlogs, but no one knows who leaked it. Then, Karlie suggests taking a lie detector test. We’ll have to wait until another episode for that drama, but at least they didn’t attempt to brawl this time. Back in the A, Che Mack is back talking to made Man. She has been nursing him back to health since he got shot but she still hasn’t forgiven him for cheating (even though he denies it). She moved out and got her own place but Made Man wants her to come back home. She loves him and all, but she can’t trust him so that’s not going to help him. Back in Trinidad, the group turns up at Machel Monday. Spice, who is dubbed the Queen of Dancehall, does her thing in a spirited opening number with backing from Destra, the Queen of Bacchanal. A good time was had by all. But it’s back to reality next week! Source: Maury Phillips / Getty We all watched Eva Marcille walk down the aisle on Sunday’s episode of Real Housewives Of Atlanta , and apparently so did her estranged (maybe not estranged) baby’s daddy Kevin McCall. According to the former Chris Brown collaborator, he and Eva have been creating “drama” between them to “create revenue.” Oh yeah? Does Eva know this? McCall was responding to a fan on social media, who claimed they saw him in the audience at the wedding. He responded, ““Bingo. This is all scripted. But don’t let me spoil the fun.” When another fan suggested he couldn’t possibly be at the wedding because Eva has an order of protection out on him. McCall then chimed in, “I’m amazed that people still don’t realize the obvious… look the Jigs up, me and my Bm work together to create Drama for revenue. It’s nothing yal can say… ‘yeah we played you…so!’ – cross Over Voice I have my child’s birth certificate we gonna be just fine keep watching” He also said the order of protection in fake. “That’s scripted too. Show me the order.” Whatever the case, Eva and Mike Sterling are happily married and seem unbothered by McCall’s antics. Source: Lisa Bonner / Lisa Bonner São Paulo is getting a facelift. It is easy to understand why Brazil’s largest city of 12 million people, was once known as a commercial city catering solely to business people: because that’s exactly what it was. No longer. Over the past few decades, São Paulo began to slowly reinvent itself, making it more livable for its citizens using its natural resources, and began subtly courting tourists with its global spin on São Paulo’s distinctly Brazilian culture. It worked. São Paulo transformed itself from a flyover city into a destination in its own right. Leisure tourism is up 50% over the past 5 years thanks to São Paulo’s urban renewal that touts medical tourism, Michelin starred restaurants, bustling nightlife, and world-class museums. If you only had time to visit Avenida Paulista (Paulista Avenue), you’d get a good representation of São Paulo all on one street. Visiting on a Sunday, the Avenue is closed to cars, so you can hop on a bike down São Paulo’s most famous thoroughfare. Otherwise, take a stroll town this storied street, which depending on the time of year, plays host to the Gay Pride Parade, and the Sylvester Road Race, and on any given day it’s not unusual to spot a political protest. This commercial corridor headquarters financial institutions, and features both street and retail shopping. Spend some time in the areas buttressing the Avenue, Parque Tenente Siqueira Campos (Trianon Park) that mimics a tranquil rainforest just off the Avenue on one side and MASP, South America’s most famous fine arts museum on the other. MASP is home to many famous European artworks, but also features a large collection of impressive Brazilian and Afro Brazilian pieces as well. Vila Madalena, arguably São Paulo’s chicest and coolest neighborhood is famous for its eclectic street art, graffiti and art galleries, but was once little village owned by Portuguese farmhands and accessible only on foot or by horse. Now easily reached by public transportation or ride share, you can wander through Batman Alley to see some of the neighborhood’s famous murals and street art, then pop into Bar Samba https://www.yelp.com/biz/bar-samba-são-paulo for some of the city’s best Samba dancing. If you’re looking for retail therapy, there are some lovely boutiques here that feature artwork and crafts from local Brazilian artisans. Source: Lisa Bonner / Lisa Bonner Looking for shopping, Rua Oscar Freire (Oscar Freire Street) is one of South America’s most elegant shopping districts featuring high end local and international designers, restaurants and ice cream parlors. The best kept secret, there were a few international bookstores, which are increasingly hard to find in the Americas outside of an airport, and each had copies of our #ForeverFlotus’ book “Becoming.” I hopped off the plane craving some Brazilian rice and beans, and couvee (Brazilian’s version of collard greens), but I quickly learned that traditional Brazilian fare is harder to find here, because this city has a gastronomic identity all its own. Source: Lisa Bonner / Lisa Bonner Casa de Porco https://acasadoporco.com.br (House of the Pig) a 2017 and 2018 Michelin starred restaurant is consistently voted one of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, and for good reason: it’s a carnivore’s dream. The Brazilian born chef creates a mixture of dishes from the entirely of the pig; and I’m talking about cooking up everything from the rooter to the tooter, and the innards, and the skin; imagine your Granny’s cooking with a Y2k flair. Think pork sushi, or pig’s feet stew, everything you can imagine and more that can be made from the pig, is. If you abstain from meat like I do, there are plenty of vegetarian options created to mimic the pork dishes. The veggie options and the craft cocktails were quite good, making it easy to accompany your flesh eating friends to this restaurant, because this is a dining sensation for pork eaters that truly should not be missed. If you’re up for a little jaunt outside the city, hop in a rideshare, which are insanely inexpensive, hightail it to Restaurant Mocoto, an unassuming little shack about 30 minutes outside of the city center, that houses a Michelin starred restaurant https://mocoto.com.br/en/ . Helmed by Chef Rodrigo Oliviera, who is super easy on the eyes, this eatery is one of the World’s Best 50 Restaurants. The restaurant, started by Rodrigo’s father in 1974, is now a gastronomic must and features signature dishes of feijoada (on Saturdays), tapioca cheese cubes with pork, homemade pork sausages flambéed with cachaça, along with poetry inscribed walls and Brazilian artwork, along with a caipirinha bar featuring over 100 varieties of cachaça. If you can’t make it to São Paulo, Chef Rodrigo will be opening a stateside location in West Hollywood later this year! Your visit to São Paulo wouldn’t be complete without trying these typical dishes: Source: Lisa Bonner / Lisa Bonner Mortadella Sandwiches- these are huge stacks of mortadella sausage (roughly a half pound) which must be folded in half to avoid the obvious density of a half pound of meat, provolone cheese, sourdough bread, mayonnaise and Dijon mustard. Feijoada- The national dish of Brazil, is a black bean stew served with various cuts of meat and pork sausage served on Saturdays. Head over to one of Boteco São Bento’s locations for this famous dish. Pão de queijo- the famous Brazilian cheese bread which can be eaten for breakfast or just as a snack. You’ll find them on every street corner or deli and many restaurants throughout São Paulo. People flying down to Brazil for medical procedures is nothing new. Think the “Brazilian Butt Lift.” São Paulo is undeniably the leader in medical and healthcare services in Brazil, and has the most accredited private hospitals in Latin America. Aside from the typical butt lift, breast implants and the various cosmetic surgeries readily available, including facial fillers, you can easily obtain eye surgeries, fertility treatments, dental treatments and implants, bariatric surgeries, even chemotherapy at a fraction of the cost of the treatments available in North America. Plan in advance by doing your research for the more invasive procedures. https://www.health-tourism.com/medical-tourism-brazil/sao-paulo/ However if you are just looking for a little “refresher,” the hotel concierge can easily refer you to an outpatient clinic or stop into one of the many “clinics” available for a quick touch up, such as Espaco Pop Beauty http://espacopopbeauty.com.br . Source: SPEX PHOTOGRAPHY, INC / SPEX PHOTOGRAPHY, INC Colorism is an issue not only prevalent in American culture but in Caribbean culture as well and this Love & Hip Hop Atlanta artist Spice (real name Grace Hamilton) is using her platform to speak out about it. Spice scammed all of us when she posted a questionable photo on Instagram that left fans speculating she bleached her skin. It turns out, the image was a super effective marketing ploy to grab our attention. Spice released her mixtape Captured , which debuted at #1 on the reggae charts. Spice’s controversial promotion raised eyebrows, but for good reason. Her first single is about the affects of colorism and how it could push someone to bleach their skin. “I get hate from my own race yes that’s a fact,” she raps. “Cause the same black people dem say I’m too black and if you bleach out you skin dem same one come a chat.” Celebrities and artists like Michael Jackson, Vybez Kartel and Sammy Sosa infamously bleached their skin to appear lighter. Spice’s stance, banish colorism, was met with polarizing comments. While some fans understood her message, others couldn’t understand her tactics. I want to congratulate Spice’s PR stunt and people because they successfully nailed these goals. Her single #BlackHypocrisy topping the charts, statement is proved, and her followers grew from 1.4M to 1.6M in a matter of 36 hours. Here, light-skinned means ‘exotic’ to many, and exotic, in turn, is considered to be more interesting,” Michael from Trinidad and Tobago said. “Light-skinned people tend to have the advantage/upper hand when it comes to the way they are treated by the general public. I’m not just saying that. I’ve seen it with my own eyes, and, being dark-skinned, have been on the receiving end of negativity because of my shade of black. Slavery definitely has a part to play in this mindset.” Spice is using her platform to promote change in the culture. We’re here for it. Stream her mixtape, here . Celebrities attend The 84th Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade on Hollywood Boulevard. Featuring: Sean Kingston Where: Los Angeles, California, United States When: 29 Nov 2015 Credit: Brian To/WENN.com “Beautiful Girls” Singer Sued Club Where He Said He Was Jumped & Robbed Of $330k In Jewelry An L.A. judge has thrown out Sean Kingston’s lawsuit accusing a Hollywood nightspot’s security guards of being in on his beat down and robbery after the singer straight up stopped coming to court over the matter. Sean Kingston sued SK WS Enterprises, the owners of Playhouse nightclub in 2016, accusing the club’s security of helping to set him up to get jumped and robbed of necklaces worth more $300,000. The club owners said in court papers that they had nothing to do with Sean’s assault and robbery inside the venue. The case was supposed to head to trial, but Sean abruptly stopped moving the legal proceedings forward. He missed his last two court hearings, and the fed up judge ordered the case dismissed last month, according to court papers obtained by BOSSIP. The judge said Sean didn’t tell the court why he was blowing the case off, but the singer’s major money troubles could be the blame. Last year, he admitted in court papers in a suit over unpaid legal work that he had less than $500 in the bank and was living with his mother. On the night of the alleged assault, Sean said he was hanging out in the VIP section, when the club’s security approached him and asked him to visit with another high profile guest. But as the singer approached, an unknown person began hitting him with their fists and knocked him over the head with a champagne bottle, according to his complaint. When Kingston’s friends tried to intervene on the assault, he said the club’s security guards stopped them in their tracks. He said a robber then snatched his chains – worth more than $300,000 – and fled the scene. Kingston demanded $900,000 for his pain and suffering and he’d been living in fear and suffered from crippling anxiety as a result of getting jumped and robbed. But last month, the judge dismissed the case, with prejudice, which means he can sue the club again if he wants.
Rachel Dolezal Gives Herself A West African Name Totally and completely white woman Rachel Dolezal is still insisting that she is a Black woman , and using a curly fro wig and microbraids to somehow make it true to the rest of us. Now, on top of all her “natural” hair endeavors, the former NAACP leader has now given herself a super Afrocentric name, just to really drive the point home. wRachael has legally changed her name to Nkechi Amare Diallo. Rachel filed the docs for the official West African name change in Washington State. According to Mail Online , “Nkechi” is short for Nkechinyere which means “gift of God” in the Nigerian language of Igbo. Meanwhile, Diallo comes from the Fula people of West Africa and means “bold.” So Rachel says she’s a bold gift of God , huh? Well if you don’t believe it for yourself, who else will, right? You would think she’d give up this tired culture vulture routine since it hasn’t done anything but get her fired from her job, relentlessly memed and criticized, and send her to the poorhouse.
