American Idol Ratings Drop; Nicki/Mariah Feud to Blame?

Much to the chagrin of Fox, it turns out viewers might not want to watch two multi-millionaire recording superstars snipe at each other for two hours straight. Amazing, right? But the ratings for last night’s American Idol premiere fell by 19 percent in comparison to the Season 11 opener, as 17.8 million households tuned in to see Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey go at it. And to watch Ashlee Feliciano , Tenna Torres and other audition, we suppose. But did the judges’ feud hinder or enhance your viewing experience? And which new panelist do you like best so far?   Nicki Minaj Mariah Carey Keith Urban View Poll »

Subway Foot-Long Subs: Actually Only 11 Inches!

Subway customers are up in arms and busting out measuring tapes amid reports that the chain’s famous foot-long subs fall a half an inch or even a full inch short. The controversy began on Tuesday in Perth, Australia, when a discerning customer named Matt Corby ordered one and pulled out a tape measure: Corby found the sub measured only 11 inches long and took his outrage to Facebook, where he posted a photo of it with the caption “subway pls respond.” The photo, predictably, sparked an abundance of similar photos on Facebook of subs being measured and countless comments on Subway’s page. The New York Post followed up on Corby’s post with an investigation of its own and found Corby’s viral photo to be closer to the rule than the exception. Four out of seven “Five-dollar Footlongs” purchased at Subways in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, measured only 11 or 11.5 inches, the Post said. A local franchisee said the chain has cut the portions of their cold-cut meats by 25 percent recently and raised the cost of food to individual store owners. Deliberate recipes for cost-cutting, one could say. Subway said it will look into it, but the discrepancy in length may be due to the fact that the bread is baked fresh daily in each of its 38,000 restaurants. You buying that explanation, or is Subway guilty of false advertising? Or actually doing you a favor by saving you the extra calories of that last half-inch?

There are few anti-gay activists as vehemently hostile as Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber and so, generally, when we see a new episode of LC’s “Faith and Freedom” radio program that has a title like ” Homosexual Activist Propaganda Gaining Steam in Public Schools ” and features Barber, we anticipate that we’ll be grabbing some part of his rant to post and highlight here. Lisa Vanderpump "Sings" Debut Single: Try Not to Listen Now!

Lisa Vanderpump is the latest member of the Real Housewives franchise to try her voice at a singing career. And we use the term singing as loosely as Lindsay Lohan uses her vagina. The reality star appeared on Ryan Seacrest’s radio program this morning, rambled on for five minutes about her role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and then launched into a version of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” that makes Kim Zolciak’s Tardy for the Party sound like a Grammy nominee. We’ve posted the video below and it really only leaves one question: Should we blame Seacrest more for actually airing this nonsense, or for unleashing Kim Kardashian and kompany on E! viewers? Lisa Vanderpump – Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow
