Eminem Warns 50 Cent Not To Die Over A Hamburger

Fif tells MTV News he’s ‘in good spirits’ despite nearly having to go into surgery to remove blockage in his small intestine. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Ade Mangum 50 Cent Photo: MTV News Nine gun shots wasn’t enough to take out 50 Cent , but a bad hamburger could have been the undoing of rap’s #1 bad guy. The G-Unit general was hospitalized this week with stomach pains, but a phone call from his homey Eminem surely lightened the mood. “I’m in a dead serious moment like, ‘Damn, I don’t believe this is happenin’ right now,’ ” Fif said recalling the moments before Slim Shady phoned him. “He goes, ‘Yo Fif, you were shot nine times man if you die over a burger, this sh– ain’t gonna go right. People ain’t gonna be feelin’ this.’ ” On Wednesday, Fif tweeted a picture of himself in a hospital bed and sent a public message to his boxing friend Floyd Mayweather that read: “I don’t want to go into surgery.” Lucky for him, he didn’t have to. When MTV News checked up on 50 at his NYC G-Unit office on Thursday, just hours after he was released from the hospital, he said he was able to avoid going into surgery to remove blockage in his small intestine. “I’m feelin’ better; I’m in good spirits,” Fif added. DJ Drama, who is in New York to promote his upcoming mixtape with 50, The Lost Tape, told MTV News he was worried about his boy. To lift the gangsta rapper’s spirits Drama sent three stuffed animals to 50: a giraffe, an elephant and a lion. They say it’s the thought that counts, but Drama’s get-well gifts didn’t go over so well. “That wasn’t cool. That’s all you get,” 50 told Drama jokingly while our cameras rolled. “You get 15 tracks, you damn near have to die to do a Gangsta Grillz and this is the thanks I get?” Stay tuned to MTV News’ Mixtape Daily for more on 50 Cent and DJ Drama’s The Lost Tape, which will be released on May 22. Howard Stern Calls ‘American Idol’ Judges ‘Selfish’

Stern promises real criticism from ‘America’s Got Talent’ judging panel. By John Mitchell “America’s Got Talent” judges Photo: NBC On Monday, America will gets its first taste of controversial radio personality Howard Stern as he joins the judging panel on “America’s Got Talent,” and on the “Today” show Thursday morning (May 10), Stern promised to bring something to the table he says is missing from other reality competitions: actual criticism. The Sirius radio superstar even cited “American Idol” judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez as particular offenders. “I think what you’ll find is that we have a panel that unlike these other judging shows, you know, I watch ‘American Idol’ sometimes, and those three judges, they don’t have a word of criticism,” Stern told Matt Lauer. “And I think that’s selfish. I think you owe it to the contestants to offer criticism.” Stern went on to say that while he intends to be compassionate and constructive in his criticism, he will also be honest. “I’m an honest judge and that’s what I think America needs. No more of this kind of ‘Oh, everyone’s wonderful,’ ” Stern continued. “Everyone can’t be wonderful. It’s a talent competition, and what I’m going to offer the contestants is a way to win the competition.” It will be interesting to see how the public reacts to Stern’s judging style. Recently, controversy broke out on “The Voice” when judge Christina Aguilera was criticized by fellow panelist Adam Levine and a contestant, Tony Lucca, for being overly critical. Her pointed criticism of Lucca — specifically that he was a one-dimensional performer — drew the ire of Levine and Lucca, who seemed to imply that she had a personal vendetta against the guitar-slinging singer-songwriter. We’ll have to wait and see whether Stern will be forced to apologize for taking a tough stance on a contestant, as Aguilera did . Drake Breaks Down His ‘Rapport’ With 2 Chainz

‘It’s great to see him at the top of his game right now,’ Drizzy tells MTV News from set of Deuce’s ‘No Lie’ video. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Felicia Morris Drake Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images and Drake have developed quite the camaraderie. Not only are the two currently touring together on Drizzy’s Club Paradise run, the Toronto MC also provides the hook on Deuce’s new single, “No Lie,” off his upcoming debut album, Based on a T.R.U. Story. But their relationship dates further back than fans may actually know. “Like I say in the song, ‘Me and Chainz go way back,’ that’s no lie,” Drake recently told MTV News from 2 Chainz’s video shoot in Los Angeles. “I spent a lot of my early days with Young Money on the road with 2 Chainz. We definitely built a rapport. It’s great to see him at the top of his game right now. The world loves him and it’s well deserved. He’s a hardworking guy.” Back then, 2 Chainz was known as Tity Boi, one-half of the Atlanta duo Playaz Circle, and he was riding high off of the group’s stand-out Lil Wayne-assisted single “Duffle Bag Boy.” Drake, on the other hand, hadn’t yet broken through; he spent significant time with the YMCMB team before dropping his 2009 classic So Far Gone. “This record is just the first time that we’ve got to work, and within the first few days the feedback has been incredible,” Drizzy said of “No Lie,” which was released on May 1. “I’m excited about the record — I feel like it’s another anthem,” 2 Chainz said of his debut’s official first single, before putting it in context with his previous mixtape singles. “It’s like a ‘to be continued’ of what I did with ‘Spend It’ and ‘Riot’ and just bring that energy back to the scene.” The two wasted no time preparing the video, shooting it only two days after the song was dropped to the public. “Director X is shooting the video and it’s great, a lot of beautiful women,” Drake said of the temperature on set. “It’s definitely a performance video. X took more of an artistic approach. Everybody’s looking good — it’s gonna be great.” Are you excited to see 2 Chainz and Drake together in the “No Lie” video? Tell us in the comments! Kanye West Slays Coachella Festival’s Last Night Sunday

‘Ye owns his weekend-ending set with a relentless string of hits. By Mary J. DiMeglio Kanye West performs at Coachella Photo: Flanigan/ FilmMagic INDIO, California — In what is sure to go down as one of the most memorable performances in Coachella history, Kanye West only disappointed anyone who was expecting the controversial MC to phone in his festival-ending set Sunday night. As his troop of tribal dancers got the stage warmed up, West rose on a platform that soared him above the crowd, asking, “Can we get much higher?” ‘Ye took the crowd into his “Dark Fantasy,” in a song that shouts out other 2011 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival acts Nas and Kings of Leon. He then urged, “Everybody do the ‘Power’ clap” and sent fireworks into air. The jams continued relentlessly with “Jesus Walks” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” a song from 2007’s Graduation that had a recent surge in popularity when it was featured in “The Hangover.” Nicki Minaj fans were no doubt hoping she’d come out to spit her “Monster” verse, but her Twitter followers were informed that the femcee was in Arizona over the weekend. West’s relentless stream of popular tracks, including “Flashing Lights” and “Touch the Sky,” kept the captivated masses from leaving to explore what other late-night options were in the festival’s tents. And even after “All Falls Down” and “Gold Digger,” ‘Ye wasn’t lying when he promised, “The hits ain’t over yet. We just keep goin’ and goin’. ” “All of the Lights” and “Stronger” followed, and as midnight rolled around, the crowd, desperate for more, was relieved when the screen announced “Act 3” was still to come. When ‘Ye returned, it was in his red suit for the “Runaway” anthem. After such an emotional performance, whatever he had left in his heart poured out with “Hey Mama,” during which he declared, “This show is dedicated to you, Mama.” ‘Ye and his dancers then lined the stage and held hands for a triumphant bow. Earlier, the Strokes packed the main stage, tearing through “Under Cover of Darkness,” “New York City Cops” and “Someday,” in front of lights so bright singer Julian Casablancas joked, “Can you make it brighter in here?” making sure to clarify, “That was sarcasm.” Duran Duran, who said, “We have been looking forward to this moment for weeks and weeks,” played everything their fans desired. The set, beginning with “Planet Earth,” also featured “A View to a Kill,” “Girls on Film” and, of course, “Hungry Like the Wolf.” Scissor Sisters vocalist Ana Matronic, whose band closed out the Mojave tent Saturday night, joined the ’80s icons onstage. In the afternoon, Nas and Damien Marley joined forces, playing both their solo hits and cuts from their collaborative album, Distant Relatives . “Are there any Bob Marley fans out there?” they asked before closing with “Could You Be Loved.” Wrapping up the Sahara tent, Steve Angello easily coaxed out any remaining dance energy. And, in front of her adoring fans gathered at the Outdoor stage, PJ Harvey presented mostly new material from Let England Shake . Her Coachella debut was greeted with a sign in the crowd reading, “PJ Harvey is the real closing headliner.” She tapped into her earlier albums for “The Sky Lit Up” and her 1995 breakthrough hit, “Down by the Water.” Also Sunday, Best Coast took advantage of the remaining daylight to sing the sun off with their sweet soaring vocals; Chromeo had the crowd getting down to their synthed-up funk; and Health brought their frenetic energy to the Mojave tent. Lady Gaga Reveals Surreal Born This Way Cover

Gaga is pictured as a half-woman, half-motorcycle hybrid in the image, which she posted on Twitter on Saturday. By Gil Kaufman Lady Gaga Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images The slow reveal of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way continued over the weekend as Mother Monster pulled back the veil on the cover of her hotly anticipated album, which will be released on May 23. Although now, perhaps we should start calling her Motorcycle Mama, since the Nick Knight-conceived artwork for the LP that Gaga tweeted on Saturday shows the pop star transformed into a half-woman, half-motorcycle hybrid made of shining chrome and perfectly tousled blond hair. Under gleaming, metallic-silver bubble letters spelling out the album title, Gaga’s head serves as the handlebar accoutrement to a badass chopper, with her arms forming the front fork of the street machine. The entire image is in black and white except for the pop star’s lips, which are colored a deep red. The cover reveal came shortly after the leak of Born This Way ‘s second single, “Judas.” Though the tune isn’t slated to drop until Tuesday, Capital FM in London played the RedOne-produced song on Friday afternoon. The track finds Gaga in familiar territory, singing about a lover she knows might not be right for her, but whom she just can’t resist. “Ohhh, I’m in love with Judas,” she croons at the opening of the track, accompanied by building synths. Soon a thumping electronic beat kicks in as Gaga wails, “Judas/ Juda-a-ah/ Judas/ Gaga!” in a battle cry reminiscent of the one in her previous smash, “Bad Romance.” And that’s not all the Born This Way news. A Gaga fan site has reported that legendary Queen guitarist Brian May will be featured on the ballad “You and I,” which Gaga has been performing live on tour for several months. How Much Oil Is on the Gulf Coast? | Shocking Interactive Map

The map shows the amount of oil on the coastline as reported each day by the federal government based on information from air and ground surveys. The amount of oil on portions of the coastline often changes from day to day because of many factors, including recent visits by cleanup teams or tides washing in new oil. For the first month of the spill, the oil stayed mostly in the gulf. But in the last week of May, waves of oil began washing into Louisiana’s fragile wetlands and beaches. In June, oil landings began to be reported more frequently in the states to the east. Survey areas for Louisiana were first released on May 24 and for Mississippi, Alabama and Florida beginning on June 12. Survey data were not available for some days.
