During a recent performance in Brazil, one of her background dancers collapsed to the ground with a seizure. The other dancers stopped performing almost immediately to tend to their fallen co-worker, but what did Iggy do? Amethyst Amelia Kelly turned around, stared at the aforementioned collapsed dancer, looked at the other concerned dancers who had stopped, said “somebody get the medic up here”, THEN TURNED AROUND AND TRIED TO GO INTO ANOTHER MEDIOCRE WHITE WOMAN VERSE (one she didn’t write in the first place) WHILE THE WOMAN CONVULSED BEHIND HER. Once the venue cut her music, THEN Iggy decided it was time to stop “rapping” and see about the woman experiencing a medical emergency. Later, Amethyst hopped on the ‘gram to give people an update on the dancer’s condition, what happened to her, and attempt to explain why she thought it was a good idea to keep performing afterwards… Hey guys, Just wanted to let everyone know my dancer is OKAY! The lights & heat caused her to have a seizure. She is backstage feeling much better *hearts and Brazilian flag* Iggy was definitely feeling the online outrage at her seemingly heartless behavior. Let’s just be clear up front: We do not think Tim Burton is a racist. Not in the least. But the director is under pretty major fire at the moment for some remarks made about his latest movie. Speaking on Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children to Bustle, Burton made the following remark in regard to diversity in his movies. Or lackthereof, really, considering there are practically only white people in this latest flick. “Nowadays, people are talking about it more,” Burton said, elaborating: “Things either call for things, or they don’t. I remember back when I was a child watching The Brady Bunch and they started to get all politically correct. Like, OK, let’s have an Asian child and a black. “I used to get more offended by that than just … I grew up watching blaxploitation movies, right? And I said, that’s great. I didn’t go like, OK, there should be more white people in these movies.” What Burton seems to be saying here is that he’s against quotas. He’s saying one should not hire a minority simply to hire a minority. And he’s come under attack for this point of view; and/or the way he expressed it. Samuel L. Jackson, the only nonwhite cast member in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, was made aware of Burton’s comments and rushed to the director’s defense. “I had to go back in my head and go, how many black characters have been in Tim Burton movies?” Jackson said. “And I may have been the first, I don’t know, or the most prominent in that particular way, but it happens the way it happens. I don’t think it’s any fault of his or his method of storytelling, it’s just how it’s played out. “Tim’s a really great guy.” Unsurprisingly, however, Twitters users were less forgiving. “He’s just one of the many directors who think that for a world to be magical and fantastical it must be white,” one user wrote of Burton, whose name began trending on Twitter. Another added: “Its fascinating that Tim Burton has a huge imagination in the rendering of his films, but a Asian kid in Miss Peregrine is a stretch for him.” This person, meanwhile, made a salient and also humorous point: And this person did the same: Do you find Burton’s remark offense? U.S. Marshals Make Arrests Over Student Loan Debt Scary news for anyone out there with outstanding student loans . Apparently government resources in the form of fully outfitted and armed U.S. Marshals are being allocated to collect old loan debts — for amounts as low as $1500. One Houston man was shocked when a SWAT Team-level sting operation hit his doorstep and carted him down to the courthouse without bothering to read him his rights, in demand that he pay a 20-year-old loan debt. And the worst part is that they plan to use this method even more in the future… Via Complex : As seen in Aker’s case, which is (sadly) far from unique, federal resources are being used to essentially carry out the duties one would usually attribute to a lowly debt collector. This seemingly ridiculous allowance, as noted by Rep. Gene Green, was made possible thanks to Congress just a few short years ago. According to Green, private debt collection agencies are getting judgments against the owners of these debts (even, apparently, 29-year-old debts) secured in federal court with ease. After a judgment is secured, the agencies are apparently asking for (and being granted preposterous access to) the usage of armed U.S. marshals. Aker, who was forced to sign a repayment plan for his 29-year-old debt, will sadly not be the last person to be arrested by armed federal agents. In fact, FOX 26 estimates that another 1500 arrest warrants are expected to be issued over unpaid federal student loans in the Houston area alone. Yikes.
