Andrew Burton/Getty Images Please get well soon… Erica Garner Suffers Heart Attack The 27-year-old daughter of Eric Garner is currently on life support after a medical emergency. The New York Daily News reports that Erica Garner suffered a heart attack Saturday and is currently in ICU in a Brooklyn hospital. Esaw Snipes-Garner, Erica’s mother, told the publication that while her daughter’s condition was grave, the family hadn’t given up hope. “(She) is still with us. She’s fighting,” said Snipes-Garner. Erica’s cardiac arrest was believed to have been brought on by an asthma attack. The mother of two has been protesting against police brutality since her father’s 2014 death when a police officer put him in an illegal chokehold. 11:24 a.m. UPDATE: The family’s released a statement noting that Erica’s condition remains “grave.” “The Garner/Snipes family wants to thank you all for your prayers and support,” the statement said. “At this moment there are no updates on Erica’s condition. They ask that you take this holiday to enjoy your loved ones and for self care. More updates will come as they are available.”” We’re sending out prayers to Erica and the entire Garner family. The NFL player announced in September that he would continue to kneel for The National Anthem until Donald Trump says he’s sorry for calling protesting NFL players “sons of b*tches,” ESPN.com reports. There’s word that the NFL may institute a rule that requires players to stand for the National Anthem, which would make it impossible for some players to peacefully protest police brutality against Black people before the games. When asked what he would do if it became mandatory for him to stand during the anthem, Rishard tweeted, “I will be done playing football.” Rishard wiped the tweet from his timeline, but not before an NFL reporter Paul Kuharsky captured and reposted it. Another piece of sad news for Hollywood. Stephen Furst, an actor best known for playing Kent “Flounder” Dorfman in Animal House, has passed away. He was only 63 years old. We first heard of his death last night when his sons, Nathan and Griffith Furst, made a touching statement on his Facebook pace. “Actor and comedian Stephen Furst died on June 16, 2017 due to complications from diabetes,” the statement read. “Steve has a long list of earthy accomplishments.” “He was known to the world as a brilliant and prolific actor and filmmaker, but to his family and many dear friends he was also a beloved husband, father and kind friend whose memory will always be a blessing.” “To truly honor him,” they wrote, “do not cry for the loss of Stephen Furst.” “But rather, enjoy memories of all the times he made you snicker, laugh, or even snort to your own embarrassment.” “He intensely believed that laughter is the best therapy, and he would want us to practice that now.” His sons concluded the statement with “If you knew him personally, remember his gift for lighting up a room.” “And no matter who you are, when you think of Steve, instead of being sad, celebrate his life by watching one of his movies or use one of his bits to make someone else laugh — really, really hard.” Sounds like a great way to remember this beloved actor. Though he was known for his role in Animal House, Stephen also had notable parts in shows like Babylon 5 and St. Elsewhere. And who could forget his guest-starring roles on classic shows like The Jeffersons and Newhart? Fans would also point out his roles in National Lampoon’s Class Reunion, Midnight Madness, and The Dream Team. Many of Stephen’s co-stars over the years have taken the time this weekend to remember their friend. Tim Matheson, also from Animal House, tweeted “Ah, Flounder! You f-cked up. You trusted us! Seriously, what is it with airlines and their employees losing their damn minds on flights lately? Earlier this month, we heard the sad, bizarre story of a United Airlines flight that had gotten overbooked: five passengers were selected at random to leave the plane, and when one man refused, he was brutally beaten. A few days after that, we heard about a bride and groom who were allegedly removed from a flight to their honeymoon destination. Even Jenelle Evans jumped on the new trend, claiming that an American Airlines employee assaulted her in an airport . But right now, American Airlines is under fire again — and there's a pretty damning video to go along with the allegations. On a flight yesterday, a mother was boarding a plane with her twin babies and a stroller. A passenger on the flight explains that a flight attendant “violently” took the stroller from her, hitting her and “just missing the baby.” After that, several passengers began taking video — you can see the aftermath of the incident below. The mother in question stands at the front of the plane, sobbing, and you can hear a man say that he's “not going to sit here and watch this.” He makes his way to the front as well, and asks for the flight attendant's name. It's a little hard to hear what's being said, as the woman is crying so loudly. Which, fair — it must be hard enough to fly with two babies, and some guy has to hit her with a stroller? The flight attendant who did the deed returns to the plane to talk to the pilot, and the man who'd been asking for his name confronts him. “Hey bud,” he tells him. “You do that to me and I'll knock you flat.” The attendant first tells him to stay out of it, but then he charges towards him, saying “try it, hit me, hit me,” over and over. The pilot and another employee diffuse the situation, and as they're leading the flight attendant away again, he tells the man “you don't know the whole story,” which doesn't exactly make a ton of sense. The man, rightfully so, says “I don't need to know the whole story, you almost hurt a baby.” American Airlines has already released a statement about the incident, and they say that they've started an investigation. The flight attendant has been removed from duty for the time being, and the woman and her family were upgraded to first class for the rest of their trip.
