Source: Matteo Marchi / Getty Kristaps Porzingis seems to be steeped in the struggle since being traded by the Knicks. The man many call “The Unicorn” allegedly caught a fade courtesy of some Russians while he was back home in Latvia. The Mavericks are investigating All-Star Kristaps Porzingis’ altercation in Europe over weekend and current understanding is he was jumped at a club, assaulted and hit by objects, @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium has learned. — Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) May 12, 2019 It would seem that these “Russians” were also Knicks fans, and not to happy Porzingis requested a trade. Reports TMZ Sports : Dallas Mavericks star Kristaps Porzingis was reduced to a bloody mess in his home country of Latvia after he was apparently involved in a brawl that left him wanting more. Eyewitnesses tell TMZ Sports … the Euro NBA player was in his hometown of Liepaja over the weekend, where we’re told he was celebrating some occasion through a number of clubs and pubs in the area. Our sources say that a handful of Russians confronted Kristaps, supposedly upset with the fact that he’d switched teams down here in the States … and an all-out tussle broke out. It would appear to have been pretty violent, ’cause Kristaps was bleeding from his head. This video appears to capture the aftermath of the fight … which almost wasn’t over if Kristaps would have had his way. You can see him — again, bleeding and with a torn shirt — being held back by a woman at first, who he shoves aside. How is Porzingis even getting touched up like this in his hometown? The Dallas Mavericks have acknowledged the incident, but that’s about. Sounds like Porzingis needs to get some goons on the payroll. — Photo:
N ew York City rush hour traffic was literally brought to a halt Monday morning ahead of administrative trial for the police officer who killed Eric Garner nearly five years ago. NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo , who has not only avoided being arrested for the flagrant killing caught on video but also managed to secure a lucrative salary boost in the interim, could be fired if found guilty. In anticipation of the ruling, protesters took to a major highway in Manhattan to bring attention to something they say should have been done immediately following the death caused by the use of a chokehold that the NYPD bans its officers from using. A small handful of activists unfurled a banner in the middle of the busy southbound lanes of the FDR Drive to show the words reading “ERIC GARNER” followed by the declarative hashtag “#FIRE PANTALEO.” #EricGarner Black life matters protesters stoping traffic on the FDR highway, standing up against what they are calling police injustice. pic.twitter.com/1HiMhzmDNc — Marvin Hoffman (@theeye74) May 13, 2019 The vantage point from a nearby highrise building showed the extent of the disruption in traffic. However, there were not any immediate reports of angry drivers, which could be an indication that even the typically temperamental motorists in the city’s five boroughs were sympathetic to what under normal circumstances would have been considered murder. However, according to the New York Times, even though the trial was open to the public, its verdict may not be made public immediately. The decision “will be sent to the police commissioner, James P. O’Neill, who has the authority to uphold, modify or even vacate the ruling,” the Times reported . Wow. Power & solidarity. That questionable decision could provide a hint at what to expect from Pantaleo’s trial. Garner was approached by undercover NYPD officers on July 17, 2014, for the alleged offense of selling untaxed loose cigarettes. When officers failed at handcuffing him for the nonviolent misdemeanor, Pantaleo was caught on video with his arms wrapped tightly around Garner’s neck from behind. The chokehold ultimately killed Garner. The entire deadly episode was captured on cellphone video and filmed by a bystander. Garner’s final words “I can’t breathe” — became a rallying call for social justice advocates who saw his death as a murder. The New York Police Department (NYPD) only began disciplinary proceedings against Officer Daniel Pantaleo in June of 2018. A grand jury decided not to indict Pantaleo and the Department of Justice declined to bring a civil rights case against him. Source: Pacific Press / Getty Despite newly surfaced video evidence from Sandra Bland ‘s point of view during her ill-fated 2015 arrest, Waller County District Attorney Elton Mathis has no desire to re-open her case. “Five special prosecutors were appointed to consider the evidence. The grand jury was diligent and considering the facts and circumstances considering the arrest and her subsequent death of Ms. Bland. I have no knowledge at this time of new evidence to second guess the work of those five prosecutors or the grand jury.” The video, cellphone footage from Bland’s phone on the day of the July 2015 arrest was released to the public after being obtained by WFAA. Her sister demanded that her case be re-opened in light of the evidence surfacing. “Open up the case, period,” Bland’s sister Shante Needham said when reporter Brian Collister showed her the video. On Tuesday, investigators and special prosecutor Darrell Jordan pushed back on that notion, saying Bland’s cellphone video was considered during the original investigation. The lawyer for Brian Encinia, the arresting officer in the case said that Bland’s cellphone was given back to her family years ago. “It was part of the evidence that was considered since day one,” Encinia’s attorney Chip Lewis said. “It actually goes towards the defense I put forth that he did what he was required to do under the law and his training which was remove her from the potential threat.” Encinia was indicted for perjury. However, the charge was dropped in exchange for him never working in law enforcement again. Texas DPS also released a statement about Bland’s cellphone video: “The cellphone recording is referenced by Ms. Bland in the dash cam video that was released by the department on July 22, 2015. The video recording from Ms. Bland’s cellphone was specifically identified multiple times in the Ranger Report of Investigation. The Ranger report was made available to all the litigants during the civil litigation filed by her family. At all times, the department complied with its discovery obligations in the civil litigation. “Additionally, the video from Ms. Bland’s cellphone has been treated as public information and made available upon request (see attached). Brian Collister, the reporter who describes the video as “newly discovered,” filed a public information request back in August 2017. Mr. Collister specifically requested the video from Ms. Bland’s cellphone, and the department provided the video to Mr. Collister at that time. Again, we reiterate that the video is not newly discovered and has in no way been concealed by the department.” RELATED: Sandra Bland Secretly Recorded 2015 Traffic Stop With Overly Aggressive Officer RELATED: Sandra Bland HBO Documentary Releases First Clip Ahead Of Premiere RELATED: Sandra Bland Museum Exhibit Is Latest To Use Art To Honor Police Deaths Of Unarmed Black People
Long before Jinger Duggar began wearing pants in direct violation of her family’s bonkers dress code, there was another female threat to Jim Bob’s patriarchal reign. Amy Duggar has been the family’s resident rebel for years, and we assume the only reason she hasn’t been shipped off to a mysterious facility for reprogramming is because she’s JB’s cousin and not his daughter. Amy married Dillon King back in 2015, and since then, the couple has rebelled against Duggar orthodoxy in two big ways: For one thing, they have yet to procreate. (Duggar women typically get pregnant on their honeymoons.) On top of that, Dillon and Amy aren’t shy when it comes to talking about their sex life. There have been reports that Amy has held off on having children because she isn’t sure she wants to stay with Dillon. Others have claimed that the couple has been unable to conceive. But Amy says neither one of those explanations is accurate. Instead, it seems that despite the Duggar ban on birth control, she and Dillon have been getting in plenty of precautionary “practice.” “Oh, all the time,” Amy told People magazine when about the amount of sex she and Dillon have. “All the time. You can’t hide that. You can’t hide that.” “The kids are coming,” Dillon added. “We’ve been practicing.” And much to the likely chagrin of Jim Bob, Amy and Dillon didn’t stop talking about their bedroom shenanigans there. Dillon went on to say that he and Amy like to “keep it fresh, keep it wild” in the bedroom and are both fans of literally keeping things hot via “firelight, candle, one of those big massage bed things. The whole shebang.” “He does like candlelight,” said Amy. “I have a built-in masseuse as a husband. He’s incredible.” Last year, Amy and Dillon appeared on Marriage Bootcamp , and Splitsville seemed to be in their future. Needless to say, their relationship is on the mend these days. “I think for me, especially after the Bootcamp and all that kind of stuff, for me it’s like, two people are going to grow at different rates, right? So, you’re never going to be at the same place at the same time,” Dillon says of the experience. “So the little arguments that might come up throughout the way, you’re going to have those. That’s going to happen,” he added. “So if something does, it’s not like it’s the end of the world, we’re not compatible.” “That’s exactly right,” Amy echoed. “For me, whenever we would, we still argue of course. Whenever we argue, I would be like, I would freak out. He’d be like, ‘Babe, this is life. This is normal. I’m here, and I’m not leaving.’ And he gave reassurance.” View Slideshow: Amy Duggar Swimsuit Photos: Girl Gone (Sort of) WILD!
Morning commuters were in for a bittersweet treat this week. An armored truck managed to spill some cash, littering a New Jersey highway with money. Motorists slowed or even stopped their cars to pick up the bills, slowing traffic and causing multiple accidents. At about 8:30am on Thursday, December 14, an armored truck spilled cash on the westbound lanes of Route 3. This was in New Jersey, near Metlife Stadium, right outside of New York City. It also happened during the peak of morning rush hour. Rush hour traffic is never good, but on this fateful morning, it was considerably worse than usual. Why? Because people were leaving their cars and running out into the street to collect stray cash that was littered along the asphalt. There is absolutely video, which we have included here. Travel reportedly slowed to standstill as people stopped their cars to root around on the asphalt for cash. Those with passengers simply slowed their vehicles so that someone else could scramble for cash. According to police, there were “multiple” accidents that appeared to be a direct result of people hoping to get their hands on a little free money. Not all of those collecting cash from the highway were opportunists. Among the people was a man in a Brinks security uniform. Some openly wondered if he was making an attempt to clean up his own mess, or that of a colleague. Incidentally, this is not the first time that something like this has happened. In June of 2015, a Brinks truck took a spill after a door on the vehicle malfunctioned. This went down in Baltimore in the Harbor Tunnel. At the time, motorists and pedestrians made an eager grab for the littered cash. Others, however, were fully cooperative with authorities and even helped to return the cash. So, is it legal to just pick up spilled cash in a situation like this? In a word: No. Contrary to jokes made about items “falling off of trucks,” finders keepers is not how property rights generally work. A small amount of cash with an unknown owner might be awarded to the person who finds it, but the cash in spills like this is not ownerless. In the Baltimore case, police released a statement that people who had grabbed cash from the asphalt had two days to return it. If they failed to do so, they could face charges of theft. Assuming, of course, that they were caught. Unless it's The Purge, don't just assume that you own any money that you happen to be able to touch. Maybe bearer bonds work that way, but even then, snatching them in broad daylight would be a little brazen. Cash is just currency. The same laws and social rules that make it illegal to just grab a television and run also make it illegal to pocket random money. Between widespread surveillance technology and the omnipresence of personal cameras, usually on people's phones, you can easily be identified and caught. Resist your impulses, folks. Snatching $20 that aren't yours off of the road isn't worth being late for work.

In a tweet posted early Monday morning (July 2), the Migos rapper says a Facetime call from his better half got him out of a ticket jam with police. “W H E N G O D S H O W S Y O U N O B I T C H C O M P A R E S !!!!!!! Just got let go on a pull over for a FaceTime pic with my wife (SHES THE BEST),” Offset tweeted after 4:00 AM ET this morning. Details around the traffic stop haven’t been publicized, but apparently being married to the hottest female rapper in the game has paid off handsomely. The couple quietly tied the knot last year and largely kept that out of the public eye for the most part. Cardi B and Offset are expecting a little girl any day now.
