The X Factor kicks off Season 2 in just a few weeks, and the Fox competition is still without a host. But it has hired at least one mentor to assist contestants with their songs and routines – and you may be familiar with his work: Justin Bieber!!! Sources confirm to TMZ that Bieber will be one of four celebrity mentors brought in to help the judges with their teams. Look for him to be aligned with L.A. Reid and that panelist’s contingent of hopefuls. Rumors also state that Nick Jonas will work alongside Demi Lovato and her group, while it’s unknown at the moment who will take sides with Simon Cowell and Britney Spears. The X Factor , which returns on September 12, won’t mark Bieber’s only appeared on Fox this fall, either. He has booked a cameo on The Simpsons . [Photo: WENN.com]
A Montana man was struck and killed by a car Sunday night while apparently trying to create a Bigfoot sighting hoax, according to news reports. The Montana Highway Patrol reported that Randy Lee Tenley of Kalispell was pronounced dead at the scene on U.S. Highway 93 near Kalispell. Tenley was wearing a military-style camouflage suit that resembles vegetation or foliage. He was struck by two cars consecutively and killed.
Maine Man Brings Gun To Dark Knight Rises We knew these copycats would continue smh. BIDDEFORD, Maine — Maine State Police seized an arsenal of weapons from a Biddeford man who told police he brought a loaded gun to a showing of “Batman: The Dark Knight Rises” in Saco on Saturday night, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland. Timothy Courtois, 49, was arrested in York about 10 a.m. Sunday after state police Trooper Phillip Alexander clocked Courtois’ Ford Mustang traveling at 112 mph on the Maine Turnpike. Other motorists had called police to report the vehicle was speeding southbound on the turnpike with its hazard lights flashing. Inside the car, police found an AK-47 assault rifle, four handguns and several boxes of ammunition, McCausland said Monday afternoon. Also in Courtois’ car, police found newspaper clippings about the mass shooting Friday during a showing of the same Batman movie at a Colorado movie theater, according to McCausland. Courtois told police he had attended the Batman movie at the Cinemagic Theater in Saco on Saturday night with a loaded gun in his backpack and that he was on his way Sunday to Derry, N.H., where he planned to shoot a former employer, McCausland said. They’re going to throw the book at this clown. We just hope this is the last of the idiots that try to double up on the tragedy of the weekend. Source
Planted evidence, no charges on trooper and the UPD under fire: The Utica Police Department is coming under a ton of scrutiny and outrage throughout the community the past few days. On social networks, the outrage has become viral. First, the Utica Phoenix reported on an ongoing case involving a videotape that appearently shows a UPD officer planting evidence during a veichle stop back in February. The tape was brought to the NAACP and then brought to the attention of UPD and the FBI. One of the officers involved, Officer Holt, is the son-in-law of newly elected Mayor Robert Palmieri. UPD says they’re conducting an internal investigation. Considering the relation, Palmieri needs to get out in front of this and demand that the F.B.I. takeover the investigation in order to avoid any perception of preferential treatment. Now the community is up in arms about a recent case in which a NYS Trooper, Jesse Miller, allegedly kicked in a couple’s door in the middle of the night and attacked the occupants. The resident, who was sent to the hospital, say he didn’t know the individual and reports indicate that he did call 911 while Miller was “pounding on his door”. Before police arrived, Miller kicked in the door and attacked the resident. The resident responded in self defense by hitting Miller with a hammer. However, UPD has yet to file charges and claims to be treating the trooper like any other individual. Interesting considering the hawkish intensity in which the UPD posts mugshots on their facebook page of anyone arrested on the slightest of charges. For example, you can find mugshots of people who have been arrested for stealing lipstick. The way in which these cases are being handled is once again raising tensions in the community about the perceived corruption that’s been systemic in Utica over the decades. The planted evidence video harkens back memories to the Walter Washington case a few years ago. In that case, Washington was shot dead by the UPD after allegedly pulling a gun on officers, which was later learned to be a BB gun. However, it has been maintained by eye witnesses and those close to the incident that Washington never had possession of the gun, and that it was seen being pulled out of a police cruiser’s trunk and planted beside Washington after he was killed. Whether these allegations are true or not, the UPD and local elected officials aren’t helping the situation with their lack of urgency to respond to the public’s questions. Hopefully the FBI will come in and do a full investigation of UPD practices over the years. That Anthony Graber broke the law in early March is indisputable. He raced his Honda motorcycle down Interstate 95 in Maryland at 80 mph, popping a wheelie, roaring past cars and swerving across traffic lanes. But it wasn't his daredevil stunt that has the 25-year-old staff sergeant for the Maryland Air National Guard facing the possibility of 16 years in prison. For that, he was issued a speeding ticket. It was the video that Graber posted on YouTube one week later — taken with his helmet camera — of a plainclothes state trooper cutting him off and drawing a gun during the traffic stop near Baltimore. In early April, state police officers raided Graber's parents' home in Abingdon, Md. They confiscated his camera, computers and external hard drives. Graber was indicted for allegedly violating state wiretap laws by recording the trooper without his consent. Related. Arrests such as Graber's are becoming more common along with the proliferation of portable video cameras and cell-phone recorders. Videos of alleged police misconduct have become hot items on the Internet. YouTube still features Graber's encounter along with numerous other witness videos. “The message is clearly, 'Don't criticize the police,'” said David Rocah, an attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland who is part of Graber's defense team. “With these charges, anyone who would even think to record the police is now justifiably in fear that they will also be criminally charged.” Carlos Miller, a Miami journalist who runs the blog “Photography Is Not a Crime,” said he has documented about 10 arrests since he started keeping track in 2007. Miller himself has been arrested twice for photographing the police. He won one case on appeal, he said, while the other was thrown out after the officer twice failed to appear in court. “They're just regular citizens with a cell-phone camera who happen to come upon a situation,” Miller said. “If cops are doing their jobs, they shouldn't worry.” The ACLU of Florida filed a First Amendment lawsuit last month on behalf of a model who was arrested February 2009 in Boynton Beach. Prosecutors refused to file charges against Sharron Tasha Ford and her son. added by: im1mjrpain
Megan Mariah Barnes caused a two-car accident in Key West last week because she was trimming her bikini line while driving. (She was headed to see her boyfriend.) After the crash, her ex-husband took the wheel. So: her ex-husband was with her while she was ladyscaping for a date with another guy, while driving. Florida! The Best Links: Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a two-vehicle crash Tuesday at Mile Marker 21 on Cudjoe Key was caused by a 37-year-old woman driver who was shaving her bikini area while her ex-husband took the wheel from the passenger seat. “She said she was meeting her boyfriend in Key West and wanted to be ready for the visit,” Trooper Gary Dunick said. “If I wasn’t there, I wouldn’t have believed it. About 10 years ago I stopped a guy in the exact same spot … who had three or four syringes sticking out of his arm. It was just surreal and I thought, ‘Nothing will ever beat this.’ Well, this takes it.” The Thunderbird she was driving slammed into the back of another vehicle and she kept on going. Cops say about a half-mile down the road Barnes pulled over and jumped into the back seat and let her ex-husband get in the driver’s seat. Barnes was convicted of a second DUI and driving under suspension the day before, so she really didn’t need to get caught driving again. Read
