Road To Nowhere: Mindy Kaling Defends Aziz Ansari Following Backlash For Attending His Show

Source: Jeff Vespa / Getty Mindy Kaling Comes To Her Friend Aziz Ansari’s Defense Mindy Kaling going to fellow comedian Aziz Ansari’s show on Friday night sparked a heated debate between the the actress and her fans about defending those who have been accused of sexual assault. The latest performance on Ansari’s Road to Nowhere tour drew the likes of Mindy Kaling, who went as far as posting a photo of her ticket stub on Instagram, with the caption “Funniest s**t ever.” Unsurprisingly, a large number of both Kaling’s fans and critics decided to chime in on her continued support for Ansari throughout the backlash he’s faces following sexual assault accusations. View this post on Instagram Funniest shit ever. A post shared by Mindy Kaling (@mindykaling) on Feb 22, 2019 at 10:17pm PST But Mindy definitely didn’t back down. Kaling spent the rest of the night doubling down on her support for Ansari and her decision to attend his stand-up show. “I’m a feminist and standing up for women is very important to me,” she said in response  to one of the comments. “I’m not rehabbing him Bc I think he did a fine job doing it himself.” She also made a point of deleting certain comments she took offense to, including one which compared Ansari to R. Kelly: “I think comparing Aziz to R. Kelly was offensive and degrading to the victims of R. Kelly, so yeah, I deleted it,” the actress wrote, according to reports from BuzzFeed . This all stems from a story back in 2018, when Ansari was the subject of an article written by a woman he allegedly pressured into having sex with him. The woman claimed that Ansari failed to acknowledge both “verbal and non-verbal cues” that indicated she was not comfortable being intimate with him. But unlike most cut-and-dry stories, Ansari’s case had many readers scratching their heads on what is and isn’t consent, along with what is and isn’t sexual assault. Earlier this month, the comedian addressed the incident for the first time since releasing his initial statement once the allegations were published. He repeatedly apologized and signaled that he had spent a long time reflecting on his behavior. “There were times I felt really upset and humiliated and embarrassed, and ultimately I just felt terrible this person felt this way,” Aziz reportedly  told a crowd  in New York City. “I definitely don’t separate the art from the artist,” Kaling wrote to someone else in another response . “His experience has shaped his art and he talked about [it] eloquently. I hope you check it out.”

Put On Blast! RihRih’s London Fashion Week Debut Trashed In Review Calling It “A Horror Show”

What were people expecting, Rihanna’s line to be classy? While some of the British press was fawning over RihRih and comparing her to Princess Diana it seems that not everyone is a fan of her new River Island line, which made it’s debut in London over the weekend. You’ve gotta read how Daily Beast writer Tom Sykes trashed her show: There were few who anticipated a fashion triumph, but, even allowing for the limited expectations, Rihanna’s collection for River Island as brought forth in London tonight was a horror show. The clothes were hideous and without an ounce of panache or style between them. True, there were some consolations. For example, if you really, really like belly buttons, if you are totally nuts for navels, then this could be the collection for you. If you only feel capable of wearing clothes on the lower half of your body if they are slashed up to your waist, then again, you are in luck. Similarly, if you were a guy hoping for a one night stand and a girl started chatting to you in a bar wearing anything from the Rihanna for River Island collection, you could feel fair confident you’d be getting lucky. The only lingering uncertainty in your mind would be whether or not she would take a credit card. Even before Rihanna unveiled her unsurprisingly slutty and yet tiresomely predictable collection for River Island at London Fashion Week tonight, there were many who said that it was a mistake to allow the world’s most famous pop star of the moment to hijack an event which is supposed to be about celebrating creativity, passion and original thinking in fashion (as opposed to lazily co-opting celebrity endorsement to shift mediocre, mass-market product, which is what McDonalds is for). Wow… That’s harsh. But Sykes also fairly questioned Rihanna’s credentials: Rihanna’s a fantastic singer with a talent for publicity, but has she ever drawn a line of chalk on a piece of cloth? Graded a pattern? Spent a year or four at St Martin’s? But the bashing didn’t end there: Rihanna claimed in a pre-show promotional video that her collection was “casual”, “chic” and “flirty”. In the event it was like Fright Night in Kmart. But doubtless this hardly matters to Ri-Ri. She flew in today, she’ll probably be on the first flight back tomorrow, dismissing the haters like me, her million dollar cheque safely cashed, her part of the contract fulfilled. No doubt the River Island collection will sell furiously to Rihanna’s fans, who will be delighted with the new, porny additions to their wardrobes. Maybe – brace, brace – she’ll even be back for a second season. Yikes… Does this make you want to run out and buy the line or what? Hit the flip for shots from the show to see what you’d be getting yourself into.

Serbian Politicans Give the Voters What They Want [PIC]

Voters have grown weary of empty promises and attack ads, so Serbian political party Srpska Lista has decided to appeal to their base by appealing to their baser instincts. This billboard, erected (heh. erect.) along the side of a Serbian highway, encourages voters to punch #5, Srpska Lista’s position on the ballot, when they go to the polls (heh. pole.) on Election Day. There’s sort of a reason for the dairylicious display- “5” is roughly equivalent to a “D” in American bra sizes- but we all know they’re just pandering to the horny male vote (not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course). Unsurprisingly, the billboard is coming under fire, but not for the reason you might think. Apparently it’s been causing traffic accidents thanks to drivers too busy staring to keep their eyes on the road. Remember, guys- one hand on the wheel, the other on the stick shift. Are you helpless in the face of hooters? Then dive face first into our Jamambo Jugs playlist right here at MrSkin.com!

Jeff Bridges Relayed ‘Lebowski’ Theories To Coen Brothers On ‘True Grit’ Set

Oscar-winning actor says he’d love to team up with directing duo again. By Terri Schwartz Jeff Bridges Photo: MTV News Fans might find Jeff Bridges’ most-memorable performance to be as The Dude in the Coen brothers’ 1998 comedy “The Big Lebowski,” and Bridges is looking to impress audiences yet again as Rooster Cogburn in his second Coen brothers flick, “True Grit.” Unsurprisingly, Bridges is a fan of Joel and Ethan Coen’s directing style, which is what had him returning for more. When MTV News asked what his favorite Coen films are, Bridges responded with a laugh, “[‘True Grit’] is the freshest in my mind. Number two would be ‘Lebowski.’ I’m partial, but two great movies!” For Bridges, returning to the set of a Coen brothers film was like returning to an old group of friends. On each of their films, the Coens surround themselves with many of the same crewmembers, including cinematographer Roger Deakins and composer Carter Burwell, and Bridges said the sense of community onset makes the environment “very easy-going.” Bridges and the Coens only made plans for the Oscar-winning actor to star in “Lebowski” and “True Grit,” but Bridges said he’d love to team up with the directing duo again. “I’d like to do whatever. They’re a joy to work with, and they really know how to do it,” he said. That comment might have fans crossing their fingers for a “Big Lebowski 2,” and Bridges said The Dude still has a special place in both his and the Coens’ hearts. With fans still approaching him to talk about “Lebowski,” Bridges said he and the Coens talked about the cult classic on the set of “True Grit.” “Everybody’s got different things to say about ‘The Big Lebowski,’ ” Bridges explained. “One guy came up to me with a theory. He said I’ve got to check this out with the brothers. It was very earnest and desperate. He said, ‘Donny [Steve Buscemi] is a figment of Walter’s [John Goodman] imagination. He doesn’t really exist.’ It gets you thinking a little bit, doesn’t it? So I ran that by the brothers, and they chortled, and that was about it.” Which is your favorite Coen brothers film?
