Pauly D Reflects On ‘Jersey Shore’ Finale

‘This season, we kind of appreciated Jersey more,’ he tells MTV News of season five. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Sway and Pauly D Photo: MTV News In a sea of laughs (courtesy of Vinny trying to hook up with two lesbians) and drama (including the Situation gossiping about Deena’s sister’s bedtime activities with his brother) on the “Jersey Shore” season finale, perhaps the biggest drama of all was caused by a prank pulled by Pauly D and Vinny. After the crew returned from a camping trip, they found that their pals had pulled the ultimate practical joke, putting all their belongings and the house’s furnishings outside. While almost everyone laughed it off, their pal the Situation didn’t find it as amusing, complaining ad nauseam about the joke. “The finale’s crazy because we go all out with the pranks,” Pauly told MTV News about the season ender. “So me and Vinny, we’re like prank-war champions. The whole house [suffers]. They appreciate it, but they get mad.” It capped off a season that was full of fun, drunken nights, as well as some real emotion, especially when Vinny left the house for a minute to deal with his anxiety issues . In the end, Pauly recalled all the laughs he shared with his roomies. “Well, this season, we kind of appreciated Jersey more,” he said. “So we took advantage of it and everything it has to offer. We were in Italy for so long [last season] that we never were away from the country for that amount of time, so you realize how much you miss gym, tan, laundry. There was no tanning beds in Italy. “Something that surprised me? When Vinny left,” he added about his buddy’s short break from the house. “I never thought he would ever leave me. So he left me, but good thing we brought him back.” With season five over, it’s not clear if the show will come back for a sixth season . If it does happen, Pauly D is down to hit Seaside again. “Absolutely! I’m there! I love summers on the Jersey Shore,” he said. “I love it as a show, and I love it with my roommates. I wouldn’t do it without [them]. I gotta do it with them. I want all of them, and I want the Jersey Shore.” Until then, fans can get their DJ Pauly D fix with his spin-off, “The Pauly D Project,” kicking off on March 29, the same day as the premiere of “Punk’d.” And of course, the “Shore” spin-off featuring mom-to-be Snooki and JWoww is currently in production. Don’t miss “Jersey Shore” every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. For continuing “Shore” coverage, be sure to check in with MTV’s Remote Control blog. Vinny Remembers Pre-‘Jersey Shore’ Bullying

After ‘DISconnected’ premieres Monday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, Vinny will take part in an MTV News special discussing digital abuse. By Eric Ditzian Vinny Guadagnino Photo: MTV News Long before Vinny Guadagnino was beating the beat on “Jersey Shore” (and beating off the attention of club-hopping ladies), he was a gawky kid getting picked on by high school girls. “I was really awkward-looking and I got bullied a lot — especially by the hot girls,” he recently told MTV News. “I was cool enough to sit at the popular table with the hot girls, but at the same time, I wasn’t the most popular kid at that table. They would make fun of me and it would really hurt me, because you don’t want the girls thinking that you’re a loser.” How times have changed. But Vinny hasn’t forgotten what it’s like to be bullied, and he’s made an effort to use his celebrity to bring attention to the issue, taking part in MTV’s A Thin Line campaign to empower kids to identify, respond to, and stop the spread of digital abuse. On Monday, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the channel is set to premiere “DISconnected,” a film about online bullying. After the movie, Vinny will take part in an MTV News special to discuss these issues. Though he’s now a celebrity with almost 2 million Twitter followers, he still encounters digital abuse. Not long ago, he posted a YouTube video with some of his young cousins in the background and, as he put it, “some hater called a little girl in the background fat.” “I’ve learned not to let it affect me, but there are other people that can be affected by it,” Vin added. “That’s why I want to share a message with young kids that whenever someone is pointing the finger at you, they have a ton of problems themselves that are making them do that. That’s their own insecurities talking.” Be sure to tune in to “DISconnected” on Monday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, and check out the movie’s Facebook page. Plus, stay tuned after the movie for MTV News’ Q&A special.

‘Jersey Shore’ Stars Escape ‘No Joke’ Hurricane Irene For VMAs

‘I was not missing the VMAs for nothing,’ Pauly D tells MTV News. By Eric Ditzian Sammi, Ronnie, Pauly D and Vinny Photo: MTV News As Hurricane Irene bore down on the East Coast and the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards heated up on the West, “Jersey Shore” stars Snooki, Vinny, Deena and Sammi, hopped a last-minute private jet from New Jersey to Los Angeles. Nothing was going to stop them from missing the VMAs. “We had to get out here for the VMAs,” Vinny told MTV News hours after touching in Los Angeles. “MTV did whatever they could to get us out here. We wouldn’t miss it for the world.” His pal Pauly D, meanwhile, had been safely kicking back in Oklahoma City after an earlier brush with the hurricane in North Carolina while touring with Britney Spears . “Irene got nothing on my blowout,” he declared, while acknowledging the storm poses a serious risk to the public. “I was nervous. This storm’s no joke,” he said. “Immediately I texted Vinny, because I didn’t think we were going to make it. … I thought I was going to have to fill in for everybody. I can’t talk for everybody. I talk a lot. But it was no joke, and I was not missing the VMAs for nothing. Seriously, I was coming here. I didn’t care how I was coming here, but I was going to make it.” It’s no doubt going to be a big night for the “Shore” kids. The highly-anticipated episode showcasing the resolution of Ronnie’s dustup with the Situation is set to air at 7 p.m. ET immediately before the VMA Pre-Show . And as soon as “Jersey Shore” ends, the cast will be making their way down the VMA Pre-Show black carpet and settling into prime seats for the main event . But while they kick back and enjoy all the VMA craziness, they’ll be thinking of their friends and family back home. “Our prayers go out for everyone on the East Coast,” Vinny said. “We’re looking out for them, but I think they’re going to be all right.” The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday from Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8.
