Shia LaBeouf And ‘Transformers’ Director Michael Bay Are ‘Like Brothers’

‘We have our bickering in public sometimes. But I love Michael,’ star says. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Shia LeBouf Photo: MTV News With “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” set to hit theaters at the end of the month, and a new face in Rosie Huntington-Whiteley ready to battle the alien bots, it seemed the sometimes turbulent relationship between director Michael Bay and former star Megan Fox was a thing of the past. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, though, Shia LaBeouf seemingly added fuel to Fox and Bay’s fiery relationship when he suggested Fox felt “awkward” working with Bay. But when we caught up with LaBeouf at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, the 24-year-old actor said his comments had been misconstrued in the media and that he has nothing but affection for the director. “I love Mike; we’re like brothers,” he said. “And we have our bickering in public sometimes. But I love Michael. And he’s still the favorite director I’ve ever worked for, and I would work with him again, and I’d do anything for him. “But no way was anything I was trying to say in malice or trying to attack Michael,” he added. That didn’t stop news outlets and blogs from publishing screaming headlines about how Fox couldn’t handle Bay’s directorial style and how LaBeouf was coming to the defense of his ousted co-star. The truth, the actor told us, is that part of the creative potency in his partnership with Bay — an alliance that has driven the franchise to $1.5 billion in box-office receipts — is the way in which they can butt heads, take a breather and then move forward with the task at hand. “We scream at each other all the time,” he explained. “That’s been sort of our relationship. There’s a contention that needs to exist for us to get through the movie, and we push each other.” MTV News has all of the highlights from the 2011 MTV Movie Awards . Relive the best moments, watch red-carpet interviews with your favorite stars and read all about what went on behind the scenes on the big night. Bret Easton Ellis on How The Informers Went Wrong

Bret Easton Ellis has written six books (his seventh, Imperial Bedrooms, comes out next month ), and all six have been optioned by Hollywood. Of those six, four were made into movies, and they run the gamut from iconic to underseen, acclaimed to lambasted. Each day this week, Ellis will tackle a different adaptation of his books for Movieline, giving his take on what worked, what didn’t, and what went on behind the scenes. Gregor Jordan’s The Informers begins with a quick, abrupt car accident, but to hear Bret Easton Ellis tell it, the production was something like a car crash in slow motion. Though it’s the only adaptation of Ellis’s novels where he actually served as a producer and co-writer on the film, he’s not happy with how it turned out, and he’s hardly alone. When The Informers was released last year, audiences stayed away and critics were scathing (pundit Devin Faraci, unwilling to review the film according to a normal ratings system, scored it a “F**k God out of 10”).

Anderson Cooper to Bachelorette Lady: How Many Men Did You Sleep With?

So here’s Anderson Cooper on his show tonight talking to Erica Hill about an innocent little interview he did with ABC’s Bachelorette, Jillian Harris. But then a clip from the interview is played and Cooper immediately inquires about the sexing.

The interview in question took place yesterday on Live With Regis and Kelly while Cooper was filling in for Regis Philbin. You have to kind of admire him for cutting to the chase and asking the question that so many wonder but dare never to ask, and then turning around and defending himself with such animated vigor. Then again, he is the son of an octogenarian smut-peddler, so it kind of figures that he’d dive right in and ask about the boning that went on behind the scenes on the show.

But the highlight of the clip may actually be when Harris replies that she kissed ten guys on the show, provoking Cooper to say, “You know what…I just threw up in my mouth a little.” Oh come on Andy—really?
