Missing actor told friends he planned to move back to Vancouver to ‘start over,’ pal tells TMZ. By Gil Kaufman Andrew Koenig Photo: IMDB While Canadian police continue their search for missing actor Andrew Koenig , a longtime friend told TMZ on Tuesday (February 23) that the former “Growing Pains” co-star emptied out his apartment in Venice, California, because he was looking for a fresh start in Vancouver. Pal Lance Miccio visited Koenig’s California apartment on Monday night and said the flat was cleaned out and that the actor told friends two weeks ago he planned to move back to Vancouver to “start over.” Koenig, who was last seen February 14 and is said to be suffering from depression, chose the site of this year’s winter Olympics because he lived there nearly 20 years ago and considered it his “place for solace.” According to a report from RadarOnline.com, police have tracked electronic information, such as usage of his ATM card and phone, leading them to believe that the 41-year-old Koenig is in the Vancouver area . Constable Tim Fanning told the site that this indicates “Andrew is just lying low in Vancouver.” Koenig, best known for his role as Richard “Boner” Stabone on the hit series “Growing Pains,” reportedly disappeared after visiting friends on February 14. But this week, multiple reported sightings of Koenig have Vancouver police feeling “hopeful that he is still alive.” Police say they’ve gotten a number of tips reporting sightings of Koenig in the Vancouver area. The actor’s family — including his father, “Star Trek” alum Walter Koenig — told People magazine that they were concerned when he did not arrive in California on February 16, as he had previously scheduled to meet friends upon arrival. “Andrew was suffering from depression at the time of his disappearance,” a statement from the family read. Fellow “Growing Pains” star Kirk Cameron recently released a statement pleading for Koenig to contact him. “I am praying for his family during this time of distress and for his safe return,” he said. “Andrew, if you’re reading this, please call me.” While Vancouver police conduct an investigation, Andrew Koenig’s Hollywood peers have begun spreading the news of his disappearance via social-networking sites. Alyssa Milano, Kevin Smith, Alyson Hannigan and Sarah Silverman have all sent out updates from their Twitter accounts about the developing situation.

Lance Miccio, a producer and director who worked numerous times with Koenig, told ABC News that Koenig recently turned down an opportunity to collaborate, saying he didn’t want to work anymore. “He’s been my editor on about 15 projects,” Miccio said. “I told him, ‘Look, I have a new gig, are you interested in working?’ And he said, ‘No, I’m not.’ Then I invited him out for drinks to talk and see where his head was at, because I knew he wasn’t feeling great, and he declined on that.” “I think it’s something that has been a part of his makeup for a long time,” Walter told People of his son’s disappearance, which he doesn’t think had anything to do with drug use. “There’s no single trauma. There’s no episode.”
