Jay-Z Is Two Songs Deep Into Next Solo Album

Working on Watch the Throne with Kanye got the creative juices flowing for Blueprint 3 follow-up. By Alvin Blanco Jay-Z Photo: Getty Images NEW YORK — While fans are still eagerly waiting for Jay-Z to drop his collaborative album with Kanye West, Watch the Throne, he has already started working on his next solo album. At an exclusive listening session for Throne on Thursday night at the Mercer Hotel, the Brooklyn rapper revealed that he is two songs deep into recording his 12th solo LP. The experience of creating the collaboration was so positive, Jay said, it inspired him begin working on new material of his own. Besides the two songs he has already completed, which he claimed were the best first pair of tunes he has ever created for one of his albums, he also has another four ideas ready to go. “I know exactly the tone and the whole feel of the album,” Jay-Z said of the follow-up to 2009′s platinum-certified The Blueprint 3. “I think when you experience creativity, you should get it out as much as possible.” Even though Watch the Throne isn’t in stores yet (pre-order receipts seem to indicate, unofficially, that it will be out on August 2), the “Empire State of Mind” rapper doesn’t want to stifle the creative juices that started flowing when he was working with West. And the inspiration flowed both ways, it seems. After getting Odd Future singer Frank Ocean to record a song for his solo album, Hov decided to have the crooner contribute his vocals to two Watch the Throne songs. So will this new solo effort come out before the discs from his Roc Nation signees J. Cole and Jay Electronica ? “Hopefully,” he quipped, before adding, “I don’t play that. We’re all competing for the same mind share. J. Cole and Jay Electronica are both making inspiring music.” Related Artists Jay-Z

Joe Jonas Wants Fans To Dance To His Solo Album

‘They’ve been wanting this for me for a long time,’ he tells MTV News of support from Jonas Brothers Nick and Kevin. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Joe Jonas Photo: MTV News The Jonas Brothers always seem to stand by one another, even if that means stepping away from the trio to try out new projects. Last year, Joe and Kevin gave Nick their blessing when he released a solo LP. And now that Joe is working on new music , his brothers are showing him the same support. “I think there’s a lot of emotions that I feel about doing my solo project. I think I was nervous in the beginning,” Joe told MTV News when we visited him and producer Danja at the studio. “I wanted to have my brothers’ support, and the fact they’re both so excited for me and they’ve been wanting this for me for a long time [is great].” As part of Nick Jonas and the Administration, Nick released the bluesy, pop rock album Who I Am in 2010, but Joe’s project will likely have a different sound. “To be able to go on a musical journey for a while and finally, with finding Danja and working with him, we’ve been able to collaborate on something that really works for me,” Joe explained. “And [to] find me and not try to mold it into something it’s not, to try and be myself and my music and kind of tell stories and be honest and just have something … [that] when people hear it, hopefully they’ll be able to dance to it and have a good time.” While their solo musical directions may differ, Joe said he learned some things from Nick. “I think the biggest thing that I saw from [Nick], he just had a good time,” he said. “He made a record that was for him and this one is for me and my fans. To be able to get in here everyday and just vibe out, we’re all just having a great time in here. The biggest piece is that I’m on the journey. … It’s just gonna be a fun vibe to everything.” Are you looking forward to hearing Joe’s solo material? Tell us in the comments! Justin Bieber And Chris Brown Team Up For Song

Brown tweeted that the song will drop ‘at the top of the NEW YEAR!!!’ By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: Jeffrey Ufberg/ Getty Images Justin Bieber has never shied away from a good collaboration. At the ripe old age of 16, the singer has worked with everyone from Sean Kingston and Ludacris to Kanye West and Raekwon. Now it looks like he has found a new collaborator: Chris Brown tweeted that he and the Biebs plan to drop a joint song this weekend. It’s unclear whose album the song is for, but Brown seemed enthusiastic about the collabo. “ME and @justinbieber got a BANGER/SMASH record for all the fans out there at the top of the NEW YEAR!!!” Brown teased. “2011.” Bieber had hinted at a possible collabo with Brown back in October on his Twitter , sharing a thinly veiled message with his fans about a duet with the “Deuces” singer. “Kinda hyped rt now. for a new single teamed up with one of my friends and an artist I used to sing covers of on youtube. BIG RECORD. SMASH!!” He then tweeted a video of himself covering Brown’s “With You.” After Brown’s assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna, the singer hit a personal and professional low. But he seems to be making his way back into the spotlight, with Keri Hilson co-signing his return . “People are already putting [Brown] back in their good graces, ’cause they see his remorse,” Hilson told MTV News. “And I know people are saying, ‘Is he really a man? You have him on your album.’ I mean, yeah. To me, a man is someone, you don’t go backwards in life. You learn from your mistakes, and you don’t do it again. You show remorse, and you move on. You move forward onto bigger and better things. That’s a man trait.” Meanwhile, Bieber has been busy working on new music. MTV News recently caught up with him while he was hanging with Diddy in the studio , and both he and Rascal Flatts frontman Gary LeVox have confirmed that they’re working on new music together for the pop star’s 2011 album. Justin Bieber’s ‘Latin Girl’ Leaks

There’s no word yet where the club-ready track will end up or when it was recorded. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: Sohyung Kang/ MTV News Justin Bieber only released one new track, “Pray,” on his just-released My Worlds Acoustic, but it seems that he is working on some more music. A track called “Latin Girl” leaked online late Monday with no information about where it came from or when it was recorded. On the track, Bieber pines for a girl, singing, “I was on the beach, yeah/ I was on vacation/ I was doing nothing/ I was just sittin’ patient/ Then you walked by/ You caught my eye/ I said, ‘Who’s this girl? She’s lookin’ superfly’/ Hey, miss beautiful, I’ve never seen you before/ And I would like to be the one to show you I am cool and all/ Hey, little momma, what you got on ya/ Looking so good that I just want to telephone her.” Later on, with a club-ready beat pumping on the Latin-flavored track, he sings, “She’s my Latin girl/ Ooh, pretty lady, don’t you think it’s crazy/ She’s my Latin girl/ Oh she tries to fight, but she knows she likes it.” There are two rumored inspirations for the song, both of whom have been romantically linked to the singer: Jasmine Villegas and Selena Gomez . No further information about where the track will eventually end up was available, and a rep for the singer had not responded to MTV News’ request for comment by press time. Bieber has admitted that he is working on new music for an album to be released sometime in 2011. “[It'll] probably [come out] fourth quarter next year,” he revealed to MTV News in September. “Drake is gonna be on that album; I’m not sure [who else]. I’m gonna ask him if he can get [Lil] Wayne on there.” What do you think of “Latin Girl”? Share your reviews in the comments! Related Artists Justin Bieber

Demi Lovato Wants To Embrace Her ‘Inner Soul’ Diva On Next Album

‘I’m straying away from the rock this time,’ the ‘Camp Rock 2′ star says of new R&B sound. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Audrey Kim Demi Lovato Photo: Jesse Grant/Getty Images Last year, Demi Lovato released her pop/rock sophomore album, Here We Go Again, and now Lovato is, well, at it again. She’s back in the studio, but unlike her first two efforts, this one will sound a little less hardcore, as Demi embraces her inner-R&B diva. “I’m really excited for working on new music in the spare time that I have before I go out on tour with the Jonas Brothers,” she told MTV News on Monday in Los Angeles at the VH1 Do Something Awards . “I’m working on new music, writing new songs, trying to approach a different route, doing a new sound,” Lovato continued. “I’m really excited. It’ll be fun. It’s more R&B/pop. I’m trying to bring out my inner ‘soul’; a new side of Demi,” she laughed. “I’m straying away from the rock this time.” If Lovato’s enthusiasm about working on her next project wasn’t obvious already, her Twitter posts make it clear. A lot of her recent tweets have been updates about working on that new album or just gigging around with friends. “I’m literally in love with music . Everything I do in life is for music. If I could, I would marry music,” she wrote over the weekend. “Gathered around with friends playing music.. I live and breathe for these moments in my life. “Yes!!! Finished writing a song that I’m so proud to call my own!! It’s moments like these that make me never want to stop writing music.. icon biggrin Demi Lovato Wants To Embrace Her Inner Soul Diva On Next Album ,” Lovato tweeted just days before. “Writing a song that I think my South American fans will love…. icon wink Demi Lovato Wants To Embrace Her Inner Soul Diva On Next Album this ones for you guys…. Just got the rough cut of the song we did yesterday… soooo excited right now!” Although it’ll be some time before fans actually get to hear these new songs, they can check out Lovato on her Disney Channel series “Sonny With a Chance.” Earlier this year, she teased some of what to expect during the rest of the season. “I think surprises will include guest stars, really awesome guest stars,” she told MTV News. “And also the romance between Sterling Knight’s character and Sonny. There’s definitely a romance factor, but it’s interesting because they play on rival shows and the casts aren’t really fond of each other. So, you see what happens.” Are you excited to hear what Demi sounds like singing R&B? Let us know in the comments! Related Photos Demi Lovato, Joe Jonas Attend The 2010 Do Something Awards

Eminem Says ‘There Is No Relapse 2′

After repeated delays in releasing Relapse follow-up, rapper tweeted that the project has been scrapped. By Gil Kaufman Eminem Photo: Chelsea Lauren/ Getty Images Last spring, Eminem promised to drop a sequel to his Relapse album in late 2009, announcing that he’d almost finished work on the follow-up to his comeback effort. “It’s extremely close to being finished,” he said of the sequel LP. “It just depends on how many songs I wanna put on it.” Then, the rapper pushed the release back to 2010. And early Wednesday morning, he did a complete reversal, tweeting , “There is no Relapse 2. ” It was the first tweet from the rapper since March 29, when he promised, “Don’t worry. Some big news is coming. Soon.” With no elaboration, the latest terse missive sent fans into wild speculation about whether the notoriously exacting, and reclusive, MC had decided to completely scrap the album, or if he is headed back into semi-retirement. A spokesperson for Eminem could not be reached for comment at press time to elaborate on what his future plans are and what will become of the tracks he’d recorded for Relapse 2. Just last week, producer Just Blaze told MTV News that he’d been working on new songs for Eminem, saying “[the album], it’s getting there, but we still got a lot of work.” Though he was sworn to secrecy, Blaze did reveal that “a lot of good music is being made. … He’s really back spitting. The wordplay is crazy, the metaphors are crazy. He’s really back on his game. He had his ups, he had his downs, he’s back way, way, way up. This is definitely going to be up there with the best of his albums, for sure, for sure. The fact that he’s branched out working with a lot of different people now, collaborating in a lot of different ways that he never has before, I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people.” In addition to seemingly working on exciting new music, Em will also pop up alongside Paramore’s Hayley Williams on B.o.B.’s upcoming debut album, The Adventures of Bobby Ray. Williams was hyped about Slim Shady’s rhymes on the track they did together, “Airplanes (Part II),” saying, “he just slays me, he’s such a genius.” Related Artists Eminem
