Morrissey Rails Against Prince Harry & Kate Middleton: Absolute Useless Idiots!

Morrissey? Not a big fan of the royal family. No stranger to controversy, the legendary Smiths frontman is slamming the monarchy in the wake of the Prince Harry and Kate Middleton nude photo scandals. He does not mince words. Like at all. “I wasn’t surprised by Prince Harry in Vegas because he’s always been an absolute idiot,” Morrissey said in an interview with the Herald Sun in Australia. “The monarchy is foremost a business.” “It’s important to them that the British public continue to finance the excessive luxurious lifestyles of the now quite enormous, wasteful and useless ‘royal’ family. I find it very sad.” The outspoken musician didn’t even spare the beloved Duchess of Cambridge, even though the infamous Kate Middleton photos were an invasion of her privacy. “They are all the most dysfunctional, unpleasant and arrogant people on the planet. A sour soap opera, and they should just resign and retire,” the 53-year-old added. “Can you imagine how the Prime Minister of Argentina viewed [ Prince Harry naked ] in Vegas? Or the Pope? Or the Archbishop of Canterbury?” We really can’t, no. [Photos: WENN.com]

Prince William and Kate Middleton: Clear Heads, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose!

Prince William and Kate Middleton are ready to do this thing. With just one week to go until next Friday’s royal wedding, the chaos is off the hook, but the couple remains clear-eyed and focused on what really counts. So says Archbishop of Canterbury Dr. Rowan Williams, who will conduct the marriage ceremony of Prince William and Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey. “I’ve been very struck by the way in which William and Catherine have approached this great event,” the archbishop said , praising the royal couple. “They’ve thought through what they want for each other. They’ve had a very simple, very direct picture of what really matters about this event.” William and Kate realize that their vows carry unusual weight. They’re making a sacred promise to each other, and a royal pledge to the public. Even that doesn’t intimidate them, says Dr. Williams. “I think that they have a clear sense of what they believe they’re responsible to,” says the archbishop. “They’re responsible to the whole society.” “They’re responsible to God for their relationship. I think it’s impressive that they’ve had that simplicity about it, they’ve known what matters, what’s at the heart of all this, because I think they are deeply unpretentious people.” The archbishop calls on everyone watching the Royal Wedding to truly engage with the event as these two 29-year-olds enter holy matrimony. “William and Catherine are making this commitment very much in the public eye, and they’re both sensible, realistic young people,” he says. “They know what the cost might be, and because of that, they will need the support, solidarity and prayers of all those who are watching.” “We have to be witnesses in an active sense: the kind of witnesses who really support what’s going on. To be a witness is more than to be a spectator, and I hope that’ll be part of people’s experience at the time of the wedding.” In short: Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose. We’re here for you William and Kate, and wish you nothing but the best in one week’s time. [Photo: WENN.com]

The Pope Took Days to Remove Archbishop Who Defied Celibacy, But Years for Pedophiles [Hypocrisy]

A lawyer for the Vatican claimed, in a statement earlier today, that the two years it took the current pope to defrock a convicted pedophile was quick . But in 2006 he excommunicated an Archbishop who defied the celibacy doctrine ‘automatically’. On September 24th 2006 Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo, of Zambia, defied the Vatican by ordaining four married priests . On September 26th the Vatican issued a press release announcing that he had been excommunicated for ” ordaining bishops without the approval of the Holy See .” On December 11th 2006, in defiance of that excommunication, Milingo ordained a further four married priests in Washington. On December the 17th, six days later, the Vatican issued a press release announcing that he had been reduced to the lay state. “The commission of these grave crimes, which has recently been established,” said the press release, “is to be considered as proof of the persistent contumacy of Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo. The Holy See has therefore been obliged to impose upon him the further penalty of dismissal from the clerical state.” All the clergy he ordained were excommunicated automatically too. Milingo had been defying the church for many years. But when he finally committed what the Vatican thought was a ‘grave crime’, there was no delay. Flagrantly breaking with the doctrine of celibacy was met with swift, decisive condemnation. The men he ordained were removed immediately too. In 1978 the Reverend Stephen Kiesle, of Oakland, California, pleaded no contest to charges of tying up and molesting two young boys in a rectory . He was not removed from the church until 1987, despite requesting it himself in 1981. A portion of that delay meant that Kiesle was still dealing with children. The Associated Press have a letter from the then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger , about laicizing Kiesle — a process that took six days in the case of Milingo in 2006. He said that “the arguments for removing Kiesle were of “grave significance” but such actions required very careful review and more time.” It was not the only occasion that such “careful review”, was required. In two other cases that we know of, in Germany and in Wisconsin, he failed to act decisively to remove known pedophiles from the church . The German priest, the Reverend Peter Hullermann was, according to the New York Times , “later convicted of molesting boys in another parish.”
