Nicholas Sandmann who previously tried to paint himself as a peacemaker to NBC News and said he stood still simply to “diffuse the situation” sucked up some airtime on “The Today Show” Wednesday. Sandmann sat down with Savannah Guthrie and refuted claims that he’s an unangelic, ignorant, entitled, bra and instead he says he and his Cheeto approved friends were just minding their business when they became victims. He also denied that he was smirking—-even though we all have working eyes and can clearly see his smug facial expression. “People judged me based off one expression, which I wasn’t smirking,” Sandmann said to “Today. And they’ve gone from there to titling me and labeling me as a racist person.” “As far as standing there, I had every right to do so. I don’t – I – my position is that I was not disrespectful to Mr. Phillips,” Sandmann added. “I respect him. I’d like to talk to him. I mean – in hindsight I wish we could have walked away and avoided the whole thing.” In case you didn’t know, Nick’s been coached by RunSwitch, a PR firm run by a former adviser to Mitch McConnell and a current adviser to a Mitch McConnell super PAC. Nathan Phillips will be on The Today show tomorrow to tell the real side his side of the story. Tomorrow on TODAY: We sit down with Nathan Phillips for his reaction to Nick Sandmann’s interview. pic.twitter.com/5QjdqX35OC — TODAY (@TODAYshow) January 23, 2019 That Nicholas Sandmann, he’s no angel. Who will advance to the final five on Dancing With the Stars? Kellie Pickler, Aly Raisman and Zendaya Coleman. No doubt. The three women have been the best all season long, leaving two spots – and three men vying for them – as we headed into this evening’s results show. Given this week’s scores, Jacoby Jones appeared to have the edge over Ingo Rademacher and Sean Lowe, who came in a distant last Monday. In fact, it looked very difficult for The Bachelor to pull this out, and he did end up in the bottom two – along with NFL star Jacoby, in a bit of a surprise. Did he? The contestant leaving the ballroom tonight is … Sean Lowe . He had an entertaining run though. Props. You’re officially on notice next week, Jacoby and Ingo! What do you think: The right decision by America? Yup. Good run though, Sean! No! Someone else! View Poll »
Who will advance to the final six on Dancing With the Stars? Kellie Pickler. That we knew going in, given that she earned immunity last night. For everyone else, it left six people vying for five spots in the field. Who got them? Were there any big surprises? Let’s find out! Given Monday night’s scores, the celebs in danger coming into this evening pretty much made sense – Andy Dick, Ingo Rademacher and Jacoby Jones. Sean Lowe was safe early on, leaving the three of those fellas at risk. Of the three, Dick seemed like the odds-on favorite to get the boot. But did he? The contestant leaving the ballroom tonight is … Dick. He had an entertaining run though. Respect. You’re on notice next week, Jacoby and Ingo! What do you think: The right call?

‘He’s the best celebrity dance partner anyone could ask for,’ his pro dance partner Peta Murgatroyd said. By Kelley L. Carter Peta Murgatroyd and Donald Driver on “Dancing With the Stars” Photo: ABC Upon hearing his name called as the season 14 winner of ABC’s hit show “Dancing With the Stars,” Donald Driver stopped, dropped and rolled. “Amazing! This is awesome!” he said, his fist punching the sky in excitement. It was a sweet moment, considering that Driver, an NFL star, revealed that he’s been a longtime fan of the show and had watched it since its inaugural season. Driver ran around the ballroom dance floor and screamed his excitement, while rolling around on the floor after he found out he outscored classical singer Katherine Jenkins (Monday night’s top scorer) and her partner Mark Ballas. On Monday night, Driver and his partner, Peta Murgatroyd, danced the Argentine tango for their first dance, and head judge Len Goodman said he loved Driver’s intensity. The other judges thought his storytelling through dance was moving. The three judges gave him one point shy of a perfect score for that round. For the freestyle round, the Green Bay Packers wide receiver two-stepped to country music, which could have been a risk on the ballroom floor. The judges loved it, and Carrie Ann Inaba actually jumped up on the table and proclaimed, “This is my favorite dance of the season!” For that, Driver earned a perfect score. As for Tuesday night’s finale, he danced one last shirtless dance, for which the judges gave him another perfect trio of 10s. Len Goodman named him the best dancing footballer they’ve ever had on the show. “He’s the best celebrity dance partner anyone could ask for,” Murgatroyd said before her partner was crowned the winner. “I was lucky.”
The first elimination on Dancing With the Stars is the dubious honor no one wants, but here in Season 14, the second Tuesday ouster was even sadder. That’s because Martina Navratilova double faulted her way out the door over the opening routines, leaving little doubt she should be sent packing. This week, however, five couples not only tied for the lowest score, but that score was 24! Someone was going home after all 8s! Or better! “No one deserves to go home tonight,” proclaimed Dancing With the Stars judge Len Goodman as Tuesday’s elimination show got underway. But alas, someone did … Seemingly out of nowhere, it was Jack Wagner who got the boot despite a solid samba dedicated to long-lost daughter Kerry, who was in the ballroom Monday night. “It was a great time and it was fun to test myself. Thanks to the judges, I appreciate it, and good luck to everybody else!” the surprised, but classy actor said. Perhaps in response to this unprecedented situation, Tom Bergeron introduced a new twist. For the next four weeks, the bottom two will dance for their lives! Simultaneously! The judges will then decide who goes home, giving them a chance to save a favorite … not that it would’ve helped if no one deserves the pink slip. You tell us: Did Jack deserve to be voted off Dancing With the Stars?

My mama is old-school with her courtship expectations. If ever a dude wanted to get on, he had to pursue and properly court her before anything jumped off. Yet sometime in the mid-aughts, shortly after the death of my grandmother, she decided to go against the grain of convention and semi-court her ballroom dance teacher. It was the first time in her more than 50 years of life that she’d approached anyone on her own volition. It all worked out and they’re now happily married. I realize this was a stretch for her considering her generational ideals, but I’m blown that, in 2011, many American women are still yoked to the antiquated tradition of waiting for dudes to pursue them. Even women who consider themselves otherwise “liberated” and dependent in any sense scoff at the idea that they would have to ask a n*gga for his digits. ( Continue reading… )
So You Think You Can Dance is down to its final 20. How did it arrive at that number? Read on for a review of last night’s two-hour episode… The Contemporary Dancers – Ricky, Miranda, and Melanie ended up as finalists. Of the three I loved Miranda’s face when Nigel said “bad news” and how quickly she changed when she found out she was in. The fourth space was filled by one of the Mallory sisters. Sasha (the skinny one) was in, but Natalia (the diabetic) was cut, yet remained supportive. Stacey Tookey Contemporary Routine – I’m usually upset when they use dry ice in performances, but there were enough leaps and the smoke moved around well with the dancers’ turns. I’m not sure what the story was, but the performance covered some good area. I assume that all four dancers were supposed to be as lost as the song exclaimed, but it was mostly flowing ripped clothing looking pretty. The Hip-Hop Dancers – With seven hip-hop dancers left and no females (because Hero, Patty Anne and Princess Lockaroo) got cut too early, the male contestants took all the glory. Chris made it through, after auditioning last season and having to dance for his life during the jive. Joining him were Wadi, Tadd, and Robert “Wooo” Taylor Jr. Sadly, we lost the vertically challenged Lil’ O and Professor “Indubitably” Lot. Dave Scott Hip-Hop Routine – The routine was a bit simple looking in the group choreography and the people didn’t look that synchronized. When the contestants got moments to have their solos, they shined. I worry for all four when they get paired up with a contemporary girl and give a ballroom routine. The Ballroom Dancers – It was a tough season for the ballroom dancers. Ivetta and Lenny were the only two left. Lenny was the only male ballroom dancer and he was probably confident that since he was the only male ballroom contestant he’d slide right through. Sadly, he was cut. Ivetta was the only hope and would have been her last chance to be on the show because of her age. She finally made it through. Jason Gilkinson Latin Routine – Since Ivetta was the sole Ballroom dancer, she was paired up with All-Star Pasha. I love a good Paso Doble and I was blown away. Not many of the dancers could stand next to Pasha outside of Anya (his partner) but Ivetta was the center of the dance. She flowed so elegantly and her toned legs looked amazing. The Contemporary/Jazz Dancers – Because this show can’t admit that it has just a whole ton of contemporary dancers, it uses the phrase “Jazz” as if makes a difference. I would have placed Sasha Mallory more in Jazz. We welcomed Clarisse and Marko. As for the naughty, female dancers, both Jordan and Missy made it in. Sonya Tayeh Jazz Routine – I missed Sonya’s choreography; it had that jazz spirit and the edginess. It seemed like Marko had a bit of an issue with a few of the lifts and I wasn’t sure it was because of the bullet in his arm or the fact that one of the girls looked heavier than the others. The “Other Male” Category – Jess and Nick were the lone representatives of Broadway and Tap, respectively. Jess was called out for being a bit cocky and a little uncomfortable in some of the other genres. Luckily for Nick, there was space for him as well. I guess with no Ballroom dancer, it was easier to say yes to the tapper. Christopher Scott Tap Routine – I’ve seen the “Rich Guy/Poor Guy” routines a lot before and the biggest issue I had was that the camera focused on only one dancer at a time in the beginning half of the performance. I was quite happy to see Jess doing some tap when I don’t think we were told he had any knowledge (Nigel hinted that four girls also knew Tap so we could actually see a tap routine during the competition). The Final Five Dancers – The judges were looking for three girls and two guys to fill in the spots. Caitlyn, who had star quality, was easily in. She was quickly followed by Ashley. Mitchell was nervous in front of the judges but was in. The final two girls were Ryan and Alexa; the two looked and acted like fake blonde twins. Alexander and Jeremiah were the last two males. Though both Jeremiah and Ryan were repeat contestants we followed last episode, Ryan was the only one to make it through. The final two were Alexander and Ryan. How do you feel about the top 20?
