Who got the boot on Dancing with the Stars, and who lived to dance another week after some good, bad and ugly Vegas Week performances? As always, it came down to the wire as the contenders are starting to distance themselves from the pretenders of the Season 24 crew. Not going home? Heather Morris, the former Glee star and Beyonce backup dancer who has critics saying Dancing with the Stars is rigged . It’s not, but she is quite good. With per partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy out at least a week due to an injury, she and sub Alan Burston did not miss a beat on Monday. The two performed a tango to Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” which had the judges (and those who remember the classic music video) floored. Heather and Alan earned a 33 out of 40, tying them with Nancy Kerrigan and Artem Chigvintsev, who performed a samba to Ricky Martin. Kerrigan is breaking a leg , but only in the figurative sense, so far; Nick Viall, on the other hand, has yet to find a post-Bachelor groove. Nick and Peta Murgatroyd struggled in rehearsals, and while the judges offered some kind comments, their score was a modest 26. Tying that total were Bonner Bolton and Sharna Burgess , who went down faster than his hand on her waist during the infamous premiere. They were tied with Simone Biles last week, so falling back into a tie with Nick and Erika Jayne, who also scored a 26, was not ideal. At the very bottom of the scoreboard, though, were two other celeb couples: Mr. T and Kym Herjavec, along with Charo and Keo Motsepe. Mr. T’s foxtrot was a hit, but not a scoring hit, and while Charo threatened to quit last week, she may get her wish as both scored 24. Last to dance Monday night? Normani Kordei and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, whose foxtrot earned them two 8s and two 9s, and sole possession of first place with 34. Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater, David Ross and Lindsay Arnold, and Simone Biles and Sasha Farbery, all performed solid routines. Solid, but not great, landing them in the middle of the pack. Simone, in particular, struggled to bring the personality to match her athleticism. All of the above were safe on this evening, as the bottom of the group who you would expect to be sweating it out sure as heck was. The two couples in jeopardy: Charo and Keo , along with Nick and Peta. No Bachelor star has ever gone home this fast (Melissa Rycroft is the only one to win it). View Slideshow: Dancing with the Stars: 9 Raciest Moments in Show History History was on Nick’s side, it turned out. As it turned out, Charo and Keo were the ones eliminated from Dancing with the Stars, which prompted this interesting quote from her: “Bruno, I’ll see you in the parking lot!” Okay then … Bruno, you want to give me low scores and kick me off the show bruh? Then you can cash me ousside, how bow dah ?
The NFC Title game was a dud, as Atlanta blew out Green Bay by a score of 44-21. But Twitter still managed to have fun with the lopsided contest, debating the merits of an unexpected celebrity lookalike, one offered up by Turd Ferguson. This user, who uses the handle @moske, shared a photo of Fox broadcaster Troy Aikman and wrote as a caption:
If you watch Counting On online , you probably already know that the Duggars have some extremely conservative religious and political views. Hell, even if you’ve never seen an episode, you’re probably vaguely aware of the Duggars far-right views on just about everything, particularly all matters related to sex and reproduction. We suppose it’s not surprising that a family that views all sex that’s not for the express purpose of procreation as sinful would take a hard-line stance on abortion. What is surprising is just how far the Duggars will go in service of their strict anti-choice views. In the past, they’ve compared abortion to the holocaust and gone to alienated viewers with their controversial belief that the termination of a pregnancy should be illegal even in cases of rape and incest, or where the life of the mother is at risk. One would think that the Josh Duggar sex scandals might have at least temporarily knocked the Duggars off their moral high horse, but if anything, it seems to have had the opposite effect. As though attempting to prove a point through overcompensation, the Duggars seem more resolute in their fundamentalist belief system than ever before. And it’s not just Jim Bob and Michelle who seem galvanized by both their family’s public humbling and by the election of Donald Trump. The latest to take up the fight against women’s rights is Jill Duggar, who is currently expecting her second child by husband Derick Dillard . The day after hundreds of thousands participated in the Women’s March on Washington and millions more showed their support around the world, Jill participated in a demonstration of her own. Jill posted the above text to her Instagram page yesterday. She captioned the image: “Join us today at 2:30 for the March for Life and/or at 3:30 at the support for life rally! #crosschurch #prolife #everylifematters” We didn’t look into the 40 Days NWA website, but we assume it’s a six-week program devoted to studying the lyrics of Eazy-E. Anyway, Jill seems to have met with more condemnation than support for her plans to prevent women from receiving necessary health services: “Just went and donated (more) money to Planned Parenthood! Judge not, lest ye be judged, Duggars,” wrote one commenter. “Marching against abortions is not pro-life, it’s pro-birth. If your family actually wanted to reduce the number of abortions (and not just control women’s bodies), you would support sex-education programs and contraceptive access. That’s how you reduce abortions,” wrote another. We imagine Jill was shocked to learn there are people who see this issue differently than she does. Then she went and marched with other people who think that folks who live near coasts exist in a bubble, and all her fears were laid to rest. View Slideshow: Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard Photos
Last we checked on Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, the couple was going strong at the People’s Choice Awards . BS and GS certainly aren’t shy about their love, but they are careful about controlling how much of their life together goes public. Pretty much from the time they first hooked up, we’ve been hearing rumors about Gwen and Blake getting married , but both parties have been evasive when asked about plans to tie the knot. But that may be soon to change … Radar Online is reporting today that Shelton and Stefani are receiving more money to return for future seasons than any other judges on The Voice. The reason seems to be that producers are well aware that viewers love ’em some Gwake chemistry, and the relationship has proven to be a ratings bonanza. “[Blake and Gwen] are getting paid an exceptional bonus that is significantly higher than the other judges to keep the spark alive on-camera,” a production source tells Radar. Of course, the novelty of the fact that two of the judges are dating will eventually wear off, which means Gwen and Blake may have to offer fans more of an insider’s view of their relationship if they want to keep the audience interested. The news of the bonus has led to speculation that Gwen and Blake might have promised producers something special. Like, for example, an on-air proposal during one of the show’s live segments. Obviously, that’s just speculation at this point, but makes an awful lot of sense. Without the expectation of that sort of event television, it wouldn’t make much sense for the network to offer Gwen and Blake significantly more cash than the other judges. After all, the tabloid interest in their relationship has begun to die down, and that will likely translate to diminishing returns in terms of ratings. Blake proposing to Gwen on the air would certainly boost interest in the show, however temporarily. But it seems like producers have some other tricks up their sleeve, as well: “The producers really want to see Gwen and Blake in competition more often this upcoming season, versus working with each other like they have in the past,” says the insider. View Slideshow: Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani: 11 Most Adorable PDA Moments “And, of course, there is a stipulation in their contract, which is more of a break-up clause,” the source claims. “If, for some reason, they call it quits, they are both required to finish out the remainder of their existing contracts.” Now that could make for some intense competition.
Forget winter. Amber Rose hopes that great scores are coming. Amber Rose Goes All Game of Thrones on Dancing with the Stars In the video above, Rose and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy go to extreme, impressive lengths on television night, giving Dancing with the Stars viewers a look at a very unique Viennese Waltz. It features Rose dressed as Daenerys Targaryen and Chmerkovskiy as Khal Drogo. The duo is also dancing to the beloved Game of Thrones theme music while spinning all around. Coming off a combined score of just 24 (out of a possible 40 points), Rose really needed this routine to go over well on Monday evening. Did it?!? Len Goodman told the talk show host that she “captured Game of Thrones” and that her dance was “full of imagination.” Julianne Hough said she thought Rose made an improvement from last week to this week. And Bruno Tonioli added, a bit condescendingly: “I could see the effort.” After the judges’ critiques, Tom Bergeron also told Amber that she seemed “more confident,” to which Rose responded that she “took what the judges said” to heart. Still, she only earned 24 points again. Were they robbed? Is Rose right in thinking that Dancing with the Stars is rigged ? Rose is considered an underdog on the competition. She does have a huge fan base on social media, but it’s unclear how many of those people watch Dancing with the Stars. She also used to work as a stripper, so she might have more moves in her repertoire than the average contestant. But those moves might not be appropriate for a family show. Does Rose deserve to stick around for another week? What did you think of her Game of Thrones-inspired routine? And do you agree with the overall odds as we’ve posted them below? Sound off now!
