Desus Nice and The Kid Mero are finally returning to television with their Showtime premiere tonight at 11pm, following their hiatus after leaving a nearly 2 year gig at VICELAND . Even though the duo still uploaded their podcast, Bodega Boys, weekly while on hiatus, fans are still understandably thirsty for the return of the visual art. Now that February 21 is here and we’re all only a couple of hours away from a hot & fresh interpretation of Desus and Mero’s classic late night banter, fans all over the internet don’t know how to contain their excitement. From their daytime appearance on The View yesterday to them overcoming some spicy challenges on Hot Ones today, all of these teasers have the Bodega Hive’s anticipation at an all time high. Knowing just how insanely unfiltered Desus and Mero’s content is, it’s probably a no-brainer that their fanbase is pretty problematic, too. With that being said, let’s take a look at how fans are reacting on Twitter to all of the excitement surrounding tonight’s premiere of Desus & Mero  on Showtime:   Finally the end of a dark period of time in our country. Desus & Mero's new show starts tonight. — Wizard Ocular (@WVGauntlet) February 21, 2019 You know, the hiatus of Desus & Mero was at the same time as a lot of messed up stuff happening with our country–coincidence? I think not. But New Yorkers are more proud of them than anyone else. Because, ya know, the Bronx. Desus & Mero on showtime start tonight. I feel like this is an accomplishment for all New Yorkers — Willie Carroll (@WILLIECtheMC) February 21, 2019   And there are some real concerns to be had, like keeping that same energy they had at VICELAND . Desus & Mero on showtime better be as good or better then it was on Vice, cuz it was Classic on Vice | Tonight at 11 — C R O M E (@Cromexmusic) February 21, 2019   While some of us are just in straight up disbelief because it’s been so long since we’ve been blessed by the Bodega gawds. (@firstklass_regg) February 21, 2019 And of course, there’s just some real, raw excitement. The Bodega Hive is on Cloud 9. DESUS & MERO ARE BACK TONIGHT THE WAIT IS FINALLY OVER AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA — transplant disliker (@lameposter) February 21, 2019 Desus & Mero premieres tonight nothing else matters — Gert (@parkergert) February 21, 2019 I feel like we all should be watching Desus & Mero tonight as a unit… — Goddess (@aricayvette) February 21, 2019 Oh, and lots and lots of Desus & Mero GIFS. In the meantime, while we all wait for that new Showtime goodness, peep Desus and Mero on Hot Ones being even more spicy than usual. And if you haven’t gotten your premium cable subscription yet–it’s time to bite the bullet; If you really think about it, $4.99 is nothing for an endless amount of Trumpito jokes, hot takes, and throwback City Island stories.

Salty CEO Talk: Vice’s New CEO Doesn’t Have High Expectations For Desus & Mero’s Upcoming Show

Source: Charley Gallay / Getty Vice ‘s New CEO Has Some Choice Words For Desus & Mero You never know what you got ’til it’s gone–but in Nancy Dubuc’s case, it looks like she still doesn’t know what VICELAND had with Desus & Mero ; The new CEO of Vice seems to think the network’s formerly highest rated program won’t last at their new network, Showtime . In a recent interview with Elle , Dubuc expressed some disbelief in the brand, saying that Desus Nice and The Kid Mero’s fanbase isn’t in line with the group of people willing to pay for a platform like Showtime. How VICE's new CEO Nancy Dubuc plans to turn the historically male, historically dysfunctional company around. https://t.co/9nwdQ8LtTS — ELLE Magazine (US) (@ELLEmagazine) December 17, 2018 She is trying to fill up airtime on Vice’s television channel with high-quality content; later this year, she will introduce a two-hour nightly live broadcast in place of the former talk show hosted by Desus and Mero, whose departure to Showtime marked a major loss for the brand. “They’re going to a platform that their audience doesn’t pay for,” she tells me. “I told them, ‘You can always come back.’ ” Though accessibility is something that Bodega Boys fans were initially worried about as well, Desus and Mero know their fanbase–and as they expressed to Bossip in an interview following their live show in Atlanta this past summer, the new show (which starts February 21) will be available in more ways than one: Mero resumed, “people are scared because they think it’s gonna be wild inaccessible, and it’s not gonna be wild inaccessible.” “You don’t have to have a Showtime login to watch what we’re gonna put out,” Desus assured.  “ Bodega Hive  is something very personal to us…we cannot just sh*t on this f**king fanbase.” So, after ending their show 2 months early following the exciting announcement of a new Showtime gig, it looks like Vice still isn’t done taking shots at the most notable show to grace their own network. If Dubuc is still open to welcoming Desus and Mero back after the grief they expressed about the network following their departure, it seems pretty clear who needs who more. See you on February 21, ballbags.

Source: Patricia Schlein/WENN.com / WENN By now, the journey of Desus & Mero going from Twitter’s most-retweeted funnymen to media darlings is known to most. After the ending of their popular show on Viceland, it has since come out that the network pulled the plug two months early on the pair, who both suggest that they were largely undervalued. In an exclusive sit-down with Bossip after appearing together at the Atlanta Symphony Hall, the Bodega Boys told their side of the story involving the end of their time up at Viceland. From Bossip : “Can I just be messy off the rip right now?” Desus began. “Vice has us for 2 more months….we did not leave Vice, Vice ended our contract. They were in their feelings because we were leaving.” He continued, explaining, “We could still be doing the show, and it bothers me because now people are tagging us like ‘do this, do this, what would your reactions be for this?’ and I’m like, ‘yo wow, what would my reaction be?’” Mero summed up the situation succinctly: “Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face.” The pair added in the chat that Viceland wanted them to shoot 160 episodes per year and to not take a vacation as it tanked their ratings. Desus and Mero’s show, by their account, was the network’s highest-rated show and the online chatter surrounding them certainly signified that. For their part, Desus and Mero don’t seem bitter about the split and instead are poised to keep giving Bodega Hive the content they’ve come to know and love. — Photo: WENN
