Scott Disick to Sofia Richie: Please Help Me Save My Failing Reality Show!

From the perspective of an outsider, it might appear that there's a tremendous power imbalance in the relationship between Sofia Richie and Scott Disick. After all, Scott is more famous and much older. He maintains closest ties to one of the world's most heavily-scrutinized family, a family to whom Sofia owes at least the majority of her notoriety. As it turns out, our initial impression was accurate, and Scott and Sofia are not on equal footing But unexpectedly, it seems Sofia is the one who enjoys the upper hand. As you may be aware, Disick has a new reality show that focuses on his new career in real estate. Of course, judging by the ratings, there's a very good chance that you had no idea Flip It Like Disick even exists. According to Radar Online, a paltry 377,000 viewers tuned in for Sunday night's episode. That's a steep drop-off from lead-in Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which has been holding steady with just under 1 millions viewers. It seems the rather predictable problem is that viewers just don't care about Scott's house-flipping business. However, they remain interested in his personal life, which is why producers have made the decision to bring Sofia into the mix in a last-ditch effort to rescue Flip It from the chopping block. “Scott is just extremely upset about this. Anyone who knows Scott knows that he put his entire heart and soul into the project,” a source tells Radar, adding that producers were initially opposed to the idea of having Richie take part in the series: “The producers just felt that, in the end, having her on would just take away from him.” A trailer for this Sunday's episode confirms that the show will focus heavily on Scott's relationship with with Sofia: “I think it's hard, anywhere, to find somebody that you can be comfortable with,” Disick tells the camera in a preview clip. “The truth was, without her, I was always looking for somebody or something,” he adds. “She's definitely been that little piece that's calmed me down and made me a better man and made things easier in my life.” In the clip, Sofia is seen offering her two cents on Scott's living situation: “I love Malibu, I would be down to move to Malibu any day,” she tells the father of three. “I think it'd be fun to move because then maybe I can put my touches on some things.” It's one of the first filmed interactions between Scott and Sofia to be released to the public, and it may help allay some concerns about her place in the relationship. After all, if Disick is asking her opinion on real estate, he clearly has the utmost respect for Sofia.

The Bachelor: Spoilers Reveal Sad Shocker About Mike Johnson

We are one week away from learning the identiy of the next Bachelor on ABC. The upcoming star of the 2020 season will be announced on the Bachelor in Paradise reunion special, which will air on September 17. But here’s the thing: We already know the identity of the next Bachelor on ABC. Thanks to a handful of The Bachelor spoilers , led by the ever-reliable Reality Steve, we can very safely announce that Peter Weber will be the man to walk across that stage in a few days. He’s best known for three things: Being perfectly nice and harmless. Having sex in a windmill four times in one night with Hannah Brown on The Bachelorette. Not being Mike Johnson. Indeed, everyone mostly likes Peter Weber. But almost everyone absolutely loves Mike Johnson. And that was before we found this photo of Johnson and a baby lamb… Immediately upon Brown giving Johnson the boot, fans started clamoring for him to take up the mantle of The Bachelor. He’s charming, he’s funny, he’s entertaining and, yes, he’s African-American. Diversity is a good thing, right? Now, however, we’ve come to find out that Johnson was never even contacted by ABC executives for the gig. NEVER! NOT ONCE! This is both crushing and also confounding. Every year, Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss claims that selecting each season’s leading man is a difficult choice and that the network has a number of options to consider… … and then every year The Bachelor just chooses the second or third-place finisher from the previous season of The Bachelorette — who is always white, of course. It’s easy to object and to take issue with this pattern, but the following fact is also an easy one for producers to point to: Ratings go up almost every single year. Prior to The Bachelor spoilers revealing that Weber will be the pick, Johnson told Entertainment Tonight that he totally understands why Peter might end up with the job. “I think Peter looks the part… when he gets a 5 o’clock shadow, he looks good too,” Johnson told this outlet, seemingly making a reference  to Weber’s skin color and adding: “I think that Peter’s family is terrific. I’ve hung out with his brother, he’s awesome. “His mom, you know, he’s got a little Spanish flair. I think that Peter and his family are just great.” And in another veiled shot at Weber, Johnson continued: “He’d be a safe Bachelor, meaning that he won’t do anything crazy obnoxious. I think it’d be a good, safe, clean season if he were the Bachelor.” The only upside here, of course, is that Johnson is now free to pursue Demi Lovato . But we still would have preferred to have seen him leading the way this January. Ever diplomatic in chat with ET, Johnson concluded as follows: “I will say this — I do think the show has worked hard to increase diversity in its casting and is continuing to evolve. “And as it evolves, we’ll continue to see more diversity from the franchise.” View Slideshow: Peter Weber as The Bachelor: A Nation Reacts!

Valerie Harper Dies; Beloved TV Star Was 80

The televisionw world is in mourning. Valerie Harper, a veteran actress best known for having played one of TV’s most popular and enduring characters died on Friday after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 80 years old. Harper enjoyed a long and highly respected acting career. However, she will forever be remembered for taking on the role of the constantly dating, constantly dieting Rhoda Morgenstern on The Mary Tyler  Moore Show. Her passing was confirmed late Friday via statement on behalf of the late star’s husband, Tony Cacciotti: It read as follows: “My dad has asked me to pass on this message: ‘My beautiful caring wife of nearly 40 years has passed away at 10:06am, after years of fighting cancer. “She will never, ever be forgotten. Rest In Peace, mia Valeria. -Anthony.” Harper had been dealing with a number of health issues over the past few years, including leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, lung cancer and brain cancer. On July 8, just about two months before she died, a family friend set up a GoFundMe page titled “The Valerie Harper Cancer Support Fund.” It was meant to assist Harper with her daily “unrelenting medical costs” so that she would receive “the best care possible.” Within the first week, the campaign had raised over $40,000 from friends, family and many of Harper’s long-time fans and supporters. Back in 2013, the actress was given a mere three months to live after being diagnosed with leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, an extremely rare condition in which cancer cells spread to the membranes surrounding the brain. And yet: She defied the odds after undergoing chemotherapy treatments, even competing on Dancing With the Stars later that same year. Incredibly. “People are saying, ‘She’s on her way to death and quickly,’” she told Fox News in September of 2017. “Now it’s five years instead of three months.” Harper debuted in her iconic role the kooky neighbor from New York on The Mary Tyler Moore Show in 1970. She won the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress that same year, despite the comedy struggling in the ratings at first. From 1974 through 1978, she anchored the spin-off Rhoda, later winning the Best Actress Emmy. When this character got married on October 28, 1974, the special hour-long episode destroyed ratings records with 52 million viewers. The actress also starred on Valerie (also titled Valerie’s Family and The Hogan Family), in addition to films such as Freebie and the Bean and Chapter Two. She earned a Tony Award nomination in 2010 for her performance as Tallulah Bankhead in Looped. Harper is survived by Tony, whom she married in 1987, and their daughter, Cristina. May she rest in peace. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam

17 Truly Shocking Reality TV Scandals

Reality TV may help its stars earn a pretty penny, but it doesn't make their lives any less scandalous.  The Hollywood Gossip has rounded up some of the biggest scandals to rock reality TV. Seriously, these are huge — and yet not all are that surprising. Know what we mean? Just think of the kind of person it takes to actually go on reality television, right? Scroll down to read through each one… 1. Chrisley Most Definitely Does NOT Know Best Todd and Julie Chrisley, the stars of USA Network’s wildly successful reality series, Chrisley Knows Best were indicted on 12 counts of tax evasion and financial fraud in August 2019. They face up to 30 years in prison. Wowza, right? There are even rumors that their reality show is about to be canceled. It’s not like they can take the cameras into prisons, you guys. 2. TLC Swings the Axe on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Viewers were already disgusted with the antics from the Thompson-Shannon family, but things reached another level when news spread like wildfire that June Shannon was dating her daughter’s former molester. In a word? YUCK. 3. June Shannon Makes the Same Mistakes All Over Again To the surprise of many, June Shannon and her family returned to the spotlight thanks to We TV’s From Hot to Not — a series that focuses Shannon getting a body transformation. Despite the series, and extensive cosmetic surgery being a success, Shannon found warmth in the arms of another man who was less than savory. To everyone on the outside, it looks like June is addicted to crack cocaine. Hell, she was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia in March 2019. Even an intervention months later failed to get June to dump her boyfriend, Geno Doak. Will another TV show be canceled as a result of her dumb decisions? 4. Big Brother 15’s Racism Big Brother has had its fair share of controversial houseguests, but Season 15 featured many of them being racist. It was horrible to watch, but Julie Chen managed to call all of the perpetrators out during their exit interviews. You don’t cross Julie and get away with it! 5. Jon & Kate Plus Lots of H8 Jon & Kate Plus 8 performed very well in the ratings because the titular stars seemed to love each other. All of that came crashing down when it emerged that they were not on the same page and couldn’t stand one another. Yikes. 6. Abby Lee Miller Dances Her Way Behind Bars Abby Lee Miller was sentenced to one year in prison for fraud after creating a secret bank account to hide her lavish income from the IRS. Despite having to quit her post on Dance Moms, she returned shortly after leaving jail. View Slideshow

Jay Smith: Get to Know His Mistress-Turned-Girlfriend, Kayla O’Brien

It's been maybe a week since notorious 90 Day Fiance cheater Jay Smith went Instagram official with his girlfriend . But fans don't really know much about Kayla O'Brien, except that she was Jay's mistress for months before Ashley found out and dumped Jay. Rumors — some of them pretty outlandish — have circulated, and some aren't sure what to believe. Here's everything that we know about Kayla.   1. Kayla is Jay’s girlfriend It was obvious for a while, but finally confirmed when they went “Instagram official,” uploading photos of themselves together for the first time early this month. 2. How long have they been dating? Since January. On January 11, Ashley filed to divorce Jay over his barbershop bang. On January 22, she took him back after he rushed to her side when she was hospitalized with kidney failure. They vowed to make it work … but clearly, Jay’s words were hollow. 3. When did the public learn her name? When Jay turned himself in on July 3 and went into ICE custody for violating a Protection From Abuse order, it was Kayla who took the reigns of his social media — and who started a GoFundMe account. She used her own name … but only referred to herself as “Jay’s friend.” 4. And she greeted him when he got out Ultimately, it wasn’t her GoFundMe but Jay’s boss who bailed him out, but clearly, they were happy to see each other. 5. Is she pregnant? Ashley Martson started a rumor in a recent interview, saying: “From what I saw at court she could’ve been expecting. So if I sign [for him] I would be responsible for paying his child support. No way in hell am I going to put my name on that line. There’s no way.” 6. No That rumor has been debunked — in part by recent photos of Kayla looking not pregnant and also drinking. View Slideshow

13 TV Shows That Really Pissed Off Their Fan Base

Some TV shows manage to keep fans happy for the entire time they are on the air.  Others, not so much.  These 13 TV shows rubbed the fans the wrong way on more than one occasion.  It probably explains why most of them are no longer on the air.  1. The Walking Dead The Negan storyline was a big deal. The moment it was teased that this comic book character was making his entrance into the TV iteration, everyone seemed excited … until he started killing off series regulars. Killing off Glen and Abraham on the Season 7 premiere in brutal fashion resulted in several complaints about the series. It never recovered in the ratings. 2. Arrow Oliver and Felicity broke up at least twice per season. The reasons for why got more ludicrous as the years went on, but still, many fans stopped watching the show in protest at just how many times this couple’s relationship was used to advance a series that was supposed to be about a superhero. 3. Empire When Empire arrived on the scene, it was bursting with the soapy goodness that TV viewers had been craving since Desperate Housewives went off the air. The show was an immediate hit for Fox, but the producers thought it would be a good idea to bring in several celebrities for guest appearances, and it took away from the escapism that the show was offering viewers. The ratings took a huge hit as viewers complained about the stunt casting. 4. The 100 The 100 was going from strength to strength until about halfway through its third season. The powers that be thought it would be rad to kill Lexa off … just as she and Clarke solidified their relationship. It did not go down well. 5. The Vampire Diaries Elena will always be remembered as one of the most crucial characters on The Vampire Diaries — even if Nina Dobrev quit two years ahead of the final season. The show was not the same without her, and the ratings circled the drain. It would have been better to just end the show in a strong way after the sixth season. 6. Game of Thrones For a show that will be remembered for decades after its finale, you would think the creative forces would have been able to craft a coherent final season. Instead, it was drivel, prompting fans to launch a petition to get the final season remade. It has clocked almost 1.8 million signatures. Wowza. View Slideshow

Anne Hathaway: Pregnant with Baby #2!

Anne Hathaway has once again experienced a miracle. Of modern science, that is. On Wednesday evening, the Oscar-winning actress announced she is expecting her second child with husband of nearly seven years, Adam Shulman. The couple became first-time parents in 2016 to now-three-year-old son, Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman. While confirming her blessed baby news, the superstar also expressed some special support for women facing fertility struggles, opening up about an issue both very personal and at times awfully painful. “It’s not for a movie…⁣⁣ #2,” Hathaway wrote as a caption to the sweet image below, making it clear she was not in costume for any sort of role. She then added: ⁣All kidding aside, for everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies. Sending you extra love . Hathaway and Shulman began dating way back in 2008. They got married tied in September of 2012 in Big Sur, California — and they’ve made it a point to keep their child very far away from the glare of Hollywood. “I had never posted a photo of my son, and I decided to post a shot of the back of his head [in March 2017], and almost as soon as I’d done it, I wished that I hadn’t,” Hathaway explained told Jezebel later that year, continuing at the time: “I felt like I had broken some kind of a seal in inviting people into my life. “And even though I felt as though I had done it in as protective a way as I could, even though it was a moment I was incredibly proud of, I don’t know that I’ll ever do it again.” Hathaway earned an Oscar for her supporting role in Les Miserables and then earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame just this past May. She rarely talks about her marriage or her son, but previously spoke to The Sunday Times about how she has evolved as a person and a mother: ‘”I’m not perfect, but if I’m frustrated or distracted, I’m good at making sure he’s safe and walking away, calming down and then coming back to him.” The star said “telling that harsh voice to be quiet” is one of the difficulties of motherhood: “I fall short every day, but I’m not going to beat myself up about it, I’m going to learn from it.” Hathaway has not yet divulged her due date nor the gender of her impending child. But we send her our very best wishes for a healthy pregnancy and applaud her for addressing the subject of fertility problems. Congratulations to her and Shulman!!!!!!!

Teen Mom OG Ratings are Tanking & Farrah Abraham LOVES It!

If you’re a Teen Mom OG fan, it probably feels like the show is a constant topic of discussion on social media and in the tabloids. So it can be hard to believe the long-running series pulls in far fewer than 1 million viewers per episode. Yes, that number may seem ludicrously low given the amount of attention the show continues to receive online, but it appears to be a case in which a very small group of people are discussing a subject so loudly as to drown out all other conversation. According to a new report from Radar Online ratings for Teen Mom OG started off low at the beginning of this season — and they’ve been plummetting ever since. Radar reports that the season premiere on June 10 brought in a respectable 990,000 viewers. On June 17, ratings dropped to 868,000 and they declined to 849,000 on June 24. The numbers have continued to sink from there, with the July 15 episode bringing in only 679,000 viewers. Of course, that wasn’t always the case. For the last season premiere in which the show still featured Farrah Abraham, 1,319,000 viewers tuned in, and ratings remained steady, as the season finale attracted 1,098,000 households. As you probably recall, producers decided to fire Farrah in December of 2017, and the show’s ratings have been declining ever since. In a new interview with Radar, Farrah reiterated her belief that the show “should be canceled!” “No one is believing the fake storylines,” she told the outlet. “These other parents are super fans of the OG girls and have been fans, planned pregnancy is not what Teen Mom OG was about and now it’s okay to keep planning pregnancies to get on TV? Sad mainly for the children.” Yes, Farrah Abraham, of all people, played the “think of the children!” card. She’s also claiming that she’s glad to have gotten fired, as like a cigar-chomping network exec from 1997, Farrah maintains that scripted drama is the way of the future: “I’m thankful I can bring a new element to unscripted and scripted TV soon, as a screenwriter, director and producer,” she told Radar. “I’m blessed for my 10 years and can’t wait to make TV that is original, better made, better talent and better executives.” We have no idea what sort of project Farrah is helming, but it’s almost certainly some sort of Skinamax-style softcore porn, and frankly, we can’t wait. As for TMOG, the show is hoping to get a boost by adding Mackenzie McKee to the cast for this season’s final episodes. Ironically, the other Moms were staunchly against the idea of MTV tinkering with the cast at all, but they may feel differently upon learning how close they are to extinction. The series will likely also receive a bump from Amber Portwood’s recent arrest for domestic violence , even though it doesn’t look as though that storyline will be featured on this season, and Amber didn’t even attend this year’s reunion special. Besides, producers can’t continue to rely on random acts of violence from the cast in order to sustain ratings. Unless, of course, they re-hire Farrah. Then there should be enough insanity to keep things going for another decade or so. View Slideshow: Andrew Glennon Responds to Amber Portwood: Enjoy Your Pity Party, Loser!

13 TV Reboots That Should Never Have Happened

Some shows are meant to stay dead.  But with creativity at an all-time low in Hollywood, networks are banking on reboots of former successful shows to bring in a crowd.  For the most part, reboots suck.  These 13 shows forever tarnished the names of the shows that came before them.      1. 90210 – The CW The CW always seems to have reboots in the works. One of the earlier ones, 90210, was lackluster from start to finish. It had appearances from a select few original series stars, but it was too melodramatic to take seriously. It ended after five seasons after ratings collapsed. 2. Murphy Brown – CBS From the get-go, there was a dark cloud hanging over the Candice Bergen-fronted Murphy Brown. It was never a stellar ratings performer, and the show was not as talked about as the likes of Roseanne. When it premiered, the ratings were paltry and the reviews were just as bad. The only good thing is that much of the show’s original cast returned, but the show was not as good as it was back in the day. It was canceled after just one season. 3. Heroes: Reborn – NBC Heroes suffered from terrible writing and low ratings in its final two seasons, leading NBC to cancel the series after four seasons. To the surprise of many, it returned several years later in the form of Heroes: Reborn, with a largely new cast. It suffered from the same problems the original series had: Bad writing. It was canceled after one season. 4. Charmed – The CW The original Charmed was a huge success, but the reboot decided to ditch everything that came before it and the result was a TV show that felt like a low budget imitation. Despite horrible ratings, The CW renewed it for a second season. 5. Dynasty – The CW The CW’s take on Dynasty suffers as a result of a limited budget. It mostly sticks to the same sets every week, and is saddled with predictable plots, and has very little resemblance to the original series. Additionally, the cast seems to be changing on a weekly basis. It should never have been a thing. 6. Charlie’s Angels – ABC A decent cast was squandered with terrible dialog and even worse plotting. The series paled in comparison to the original series and even the two terrible movies. View Slideshow
